- In the year 2000, Bandai released 4 series of Digimon trading cards, and one of these series is so rare that nobody has ever even seen a photo of it. I tried to track one down. Enjoy!

Love the video!!!
That reveal was insane. I went from "yeah, of course he wouldn't spend 6k on a card... How responsible of him" to "of course he bought the card, how silly of me" so fast
me too lmaooo
that was me lmao
My farts are better than Kurtis’ farts.
I busted out laughing as soon as he showed us the pack. I loved that reveal.
there was the hint at the start that he had that 24,000 dollar slabbed card
Kurtis spending $5900 on a video with no sponsor really shows how devoted he is to digimon
Making it a video probably makes it a write off tho
I actually clapped for him 😂
And I don't know why!
@@msjkramey he still has to pay for the cards
@@jaymevosburgh3660 me too! It was reflex! Hahaha
Bro do you know how much this video is going to make in ad cents alone? Get real.
kurtis is the neurodivergent representation we’ve all needed in our lives
ok
haha
No bruh, that’s not being neurodivergent. Don’t generalise it, it makes me loose brain cells. And I already have very few
@@antoniaae1957i’m sorry your brain cells aren’t very tight 😔
Yo, Bandai should sponsor him
25:30 I personally call this style of content "Rabbit Hole RUclips." I'm sure other people have come up with a different name for it, but that's what I call it. It's a subgenre of commentary content where someone asks a specific, highly esoteric question, and then has to go on a journey of research and investigating in order to find the answer. Like Hbomberguy's video on the Roblox Oof, or Defunctland's investigation into the Disney Channel theme.
It's quickly become my favorite type of content on RUclips. I love seeing people's creative solutions to finding answers or how deep some of this stuff can go. I especially love when creators reach out to people and can get an interview (like you did here). Really brings out the human element. These aren't just subjects to study and learn about, they're the creations and interests of real people. Even if I don't care about it myself, I like seeing how much others do. I think it's cool.
Great to see you dipping your toes into this style of content!
I assume you've seen defunctland's deep dive into who wrote the Disney channel song, it's soo good for that type of video!
If you want a fun channel that specializes in this, I highly recommend Willie Muse’s Knitting with Willie series.
ooo theres one about circles in the sahara that is a great deep dive
Don't mind me, just gonna add those two videos to me watch later 🏃♀️ thanks for the suggestions, this type of content is right up my alley

Kurtis Conner is the only person who could get me to watch a 26 minute video on Digimon.

Also, holy shit. My heart stopped when Kurtis held up the blister pack. As a fellow ND person who hyper fixates on their interests, the sheer amount of excitement I felt for him getting that pack was dizzying. That's a huge W, and I'm so happy for him. I can't imagine how pleasing it must be to own all the waves like that.

Kurtis goes on a fantastic journey across time and space. There's sadness, suspense, loss, trumph, hopes raised and dashed and an awesome ending. Someone should adapt this for the big screen.
Donald Trumph sucks. Don't associate him with Kurtis. XD
Maybe someone can make an adaptation with The Movies
Kurtis’s big break in the movie industry
i'll just mirror cast it on my parents' TV
Your comment got stolen, but only the first sentence
This is honestly fascinating and makes me feel a little more normal about my own collections. And the money I've spent on them
Omg same I’ve spent over 3000 dollars on anime merchandise over 7 years and my wallet hurts thinking about it 😭
As a fellow adult collector (not of Digimon, but of dolls), I loved this video! I think we should normalize adults collecting stuff from their childhood more, plus it's always fascinating to see what it's like inside different collector communities :)
I basically know nothing about digimon, but I DO know what it's like to go on insane, hyperfixation-driven deep dives looking for incredibly obscure information about a very, very niche topic, and I will literally watch this type of video every time. It's the second best thing to going on one of those hunts yourself, watching someone else do it for whatever their niche thing is.
omg exactly lol

It gives me a boost of dopamine to see people so happy about the result of their dedication to their nerdy endeavors 🥺💜
The fact bro spent that much money on a sponsorless video about something that won’t get him as much views shows his pure passion and love and that’s awesome

there's really nothing more wholesome than an entire video all about someone's ultra-specific niche interest and watching them be super excited about it... love this genre of youtube lol
couldn't agree more, it's a very specific type of glee that you get watching this type of video haha
never wanted to be a youtuber until i realized it can mean getting paid to infodump abt your interests to a captive audience and THAT is very appealing ngl
I love that RUclipsrs going on a journey to get a Thing they want is a legitimate genre at this point. Jenny Nicholson with her big-ass spider plush, Quinton with Gargantua-field, Defunctland with the composer of the Disney Channel theme, and now this. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Edit: Oh, Ray Mona's journey to find the Saban Moon pilot is a great one.
I had very vague knowledge of what digimon were before watching this, but I just absolutely love watching people being passionate about their hobbies and collections
You know Kurtis is passionate about a video when he doesn’t even say a “detector, I hardly know her!” joke
People talking about something they love and documenting important moments in that subject's timeline are seriously some of the best videos on RUclips imo.
Thanks for sharing your geeky passion with us, Kurtis! This was genuinely really fun to watch
i LOVE it when people are super into something . even if im not really into it myself. i just love hearing them talk about stuff with so much enthusiasm
Currently stuck on lost media and people’s dedication to it.
Being a Digimon fan can be rough considering how little attention it gets, so these videos always put a smile on my face. I love seeing people be just as passionate about these stupid little computer monsters as I am :)
I absolutely loved the Digimon cards as a kid. I learned about all these new Digimon and evolution lines and I was completely fascinated looking up Japanese cards in the early internet and seeing all these new evolution lines and Megas I would never hear of otherwise. What an awesome experience for a kid.
love when kurtis has a question and just documents his entire process of figuring it out, even if it turns out to be a comedically easy journey. banger video :)
My farts are better than Kurtis’ farts.
Kurtis’ unadulterated enthusiasm for his silly little cards is so pure 🥰 i have the widest smile on my face because of his palpable excitement for getting the series 6 pack. a good reminder that loving the things you love, even if they can be termed meaningless or stupid, is never a bad thing if it brings you that childlike joy
I literally know nothing about digimon other than what I’ve learned in this video and it’s not something I’m really interested in at all but I absolutely love seeing someone be so happy and passionate about something that brings them joy. And realizing he got the box in the end is so fun.
@@noaag if he can afford his hobby then he can, its not his fault you cant afford it 😭 im poor too but i like seeing others happy, the person who sold it to kurtis could have been poor too, you never know 😭 he didnt flex or come off rude in this video anyway

I got into Digimon primarily because of my older brothers and this video was veryyy interesting for me cuz I feel like I can now talk to them more about their interests. Thank u Kurtis
I’m so excited to watch the rest of this but I have to stop to mention how incredibly accurate the impression of that one kid who no one liked bragging about Pokémon was - I had zero friends through most of elementary school and I still couldn’t stand that kid, lol
Got two blasts from the past for the price of one in this video. The Movies was AMAZING. First thing I ever put on RUclips was a class project I made in that game.
Welp... thats an unexpected but pleasing crossover I never thought I would see.
I spent so much time playing that game. So much of it grinding R&D to get the coolest props, sets, and effects!

I was assigned Tamagotchi at birth so I never got into Digimon as a kid, but you better believe I ate up this journey of epic proportions. Congratulations on your collection Kurtis!
Afab and amab are now Atab and adab, thank you for coming to my TED talk.
You're ATAB? When will doctors learn that children should be allowed to chose their own digital pets when they're old enough?
Does Assigned Pokémon At Birth fit in there somewhere? Tamagotchi was pretty much gender neutral in the Netherlands, but I remember Pokémon being more of a boys thing
@@De_Pieremegoggel Pokémon is more like being gender fluid so it's inherently Trans. In that sense, you can't be assigned Pokémon at birth.
Thank you for staying for my after-TED Talk. Would you like to buy a time share?

I used to collect this comic series when i was a kid that i stupidly gave away, and now it doesn't seem to exist anymore. i've been trying to hunt them down since covid! So i love seeing other ppl getting so excited about something nostalgic
What was the name of the series? I’m curious! I collect stuff too and also like comic books so on the incredibly rare off chance…
I have a friend who’s dad collects a shit ton of random and obscure comic books that he regularly sells for wayyy cheaper than the market price. What’s the title of the series? He might have some of them

I'm glad these bigger creators like digischnitzel can help out the smaller creators like Kurtis Connor 👍
Congrats on getting the pack! As a vintage toy collector, I related to this video so much. I have been tempted on many occasions to write toy companies about obscure releases from 30-40 years ago.
I genuinely just love hearing him talk about things he’s passionate about. Especially because with something like digemon, it does take a decent amount of confidence and comfort in the things you like

This random sleuth mini series where Kurtis tries to get world records and looks for mysteries in mundane nostalgialand are some of my favorite vids on the internet
YES! I just watched your year old Pokémon video, and here you are, still at!!!! As a collector myself (sealed video games) I'm happy you found the nostalgia of "owning" your childhood. 🎉🎉🎉
For some reason this made me feel such a rush of emotions. Hardcore nostalgia, heartwarming community, and the eagerness of preserving such an obscure piece of history.
So many things like this we never thought about as a kid that were taken out of the plastic, well-used, and even thrown out, that we may never see again.
