Love your gardening. I'm learning a lot. I love how you are so sweet to Mis Nancy 💕 and you spoil her with her desires of her heart .you'll are so sweet and a big blessing
I love that you have the patience to make these full progression videos - but also that you release them at the appropriate time for us to start along with you! 💚
I absolutely LOVE these progressive gardening videos! They are so very helpful for beginning gardeners as well as seasoned ones. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I know this must be a ton of work.
I just started my buttercrunch lettuce a few days ago and I've already seen a few sprouts coming up 😁 (I use collected rain water. it always helps my plants grow super fast) I hope everyone has a great harvest this year!
Just watched your carrots in container video and now this one. After watching both, I understand the difference between bone meal & blood meal fertilizer. Bone meal is great for root development which helps carrots, and blood meal great for leaf growth. Makes sense why you used these in different applications!
I live in zone 10B, it’s still to not to plant my lettuce here in southern Florida. Love your video been following you guys since you lived in the upper states. Have a great day in the Lord. We serve an awesome God. I name my garden “God’s Garden “. 🙏🙋🏻♀️💕🪴
I love the mini Romain lettuces. They’re great for backyard gardens and for balconies since they don’t take as much room. Thank you for another awesome video.
You did such a great job! I truly enjoy watching you grow those Beautiful Romance from seed! I'm sure you and Nancy enjoyed some delicious salad together❤❤ God bless you both! 🙏🏾
"Salad bar" - yes it is! So thoughtful of you to plant them in threes, with one each of the varieties, to make it lovely for Nancy to enjoy as she's harvesting. Each container is beautiful! Romaine is my favorite type of lettuce. Glad to learn that it comes in colorful varieties, makes a salad even more beautiful. I appreciate the hard work and planning you put into all your videos, especially these progressive videos, which are extraordinarily helpful to new gardeners. New gardeners need to see the progression before they start, and to re-watch as their plants grow to compare, and make sure they're on the right track. Experienced gardeners benefit too, of course, particularly with plants they've never grown before. Invaluable! Thank you very much! Have a great weekend!
I love how you do beginning to end... so many videos just show how to plant, not what the outcome is. Thats why i keep coming back for more! Thank you!!!!!!!
It's getting about that time for fall planting here in 8b. Not quite there yet but pretty close. So a nice and timely video Hollis and Nancy. Thanks for sharing it with us all. God bless.
I have been waiting for this video and am so pleased. I too love in Florida zone 9b so it is still too hot. Cannot wait till it cools off. I do enjoy the planting and cooking the content is very peaceful and the music is top notch. God Bless and stay well.
I’m in Florida 9b as well! It’s so hot 🥵 but this channel has been such a blessing to me and I hope for you and your family as well. God bless and happy planting!
Getting my fall garden ready your videos are helpful. I enjoy the ending not many give thanks its refreshing to see. Looks like its about time that bing bing has a friend to run around with. God Bless
I've only just found your channel and am thoroughly enjoying it. As I live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, we have a very narrow window for growing cold-weather crops like lettuce and brassicas. For this reason, I garden things like these indoors with a little hydroponic help. This way I can grow lettuce and microgreens year-round. Brassicas don't work very well this way though, so I grow them in shade tunnels as early in the spring, or as late in the fall, as I dare. I somehow have great success with broccoli, but am still struggling with brussel sprouts until late fall just before the snow flies. Peppers are impossible to grow here without a hoop or greenhouse, but I've come up with a cheap alternative this year, so we'll see. I would love to get out of Canada and immigrate to Florida (what a haven), but for now, I'll live vicariously through you two. Grumpy Canuck Granny❣
Im in zone 10a (south west FL). Was curious what zone your in. I have learned so much from you and your wife. Your the only channel that I have found that goes through from seed to harvest. But one thing I did notice is most of the time you don't say what month you start your seeds. Thank you for bringing us on your journey. My new favorite homestead channel. God bless.
I'm just so impressed by the way you have a large area under shade cloth. I love my 40% shade cloth. I bought it and used it once, and it was fabulous. But I need a way for it to be secure and stationary. I replayed multiple times the little section where you show yours. Gives me an idea or two. Thank you!
I only recently discovered your channel, and have to admit, I have been on a bit of a binge watch.😊 Your videos remind me of the quality gardening shows that I once watched on public television many years ago. You and Nancy make such an inspiring team. I love the nature clips that you include when you transition from one growing stage to another, and your music choices are awesome! Thank you once again. May God deeply bless you both.
You and Nancy are such an inspiration. I learn so much from you. I’m in Ohio zone 5B. Set in fall plants this week and getting some butter crunch ready. Oct going to set in my garlic and gonna soak over in water and vinegar like you do. 😍
It’s been a while since I watched any of your videos. This one caught my eye since I’m sowing lettuce today. The way you end your videos touches my heart and soul so much, and comforts me. I’m back! 😊
Welcome back Beth. I am curious why you haven’t watched any of our videos in a while???? Just trying to improve our content from feedback from our subscribers ❤️
I wanted to jump on and say I used to watch all the time and then stopped. For me, your videos stopped showing up in my RUclips feed even though I’m a subscriber. I don’t know why that happened.
@DigsinDirt Thank you. It’s a RUclips algorithm thing. This has happened to thousands and thousands is our subscribers. I have lettuce and collard and onions, celery and leeks going on my honestead right now I'm the house because it's only 31 degrees on the mountain can't wait for spring pretty soon I will be starting more. Thank you for all you and Nancy do to help others. And I love how you always talk about God at the end of your videos and put a Bible verse. And Bing bing is adorable my dog helps me with everything on my honestead also. You and Nancy have and Bing bing have a blessed day. Take good care and God bless
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! You lifted me up today. So glad you like our progression style videos. Sure hope they help you in some small way. Your garden sounds very pretty. I bet the mountain environment is beautiful. How peaceful! Thanks again for watching. Bing Bing sends some doggie licks🐶
@@HollisNancysHomestead your welcome and thank you for all you do. And yes your videos have helped alot. I really appreciate it. Absolutely beautiful lettuces. I have a really poor history of trying to grow lettuce. You make it look so easy!! I love the progression videos. Thank ya'll for sharing.
Like you, Hollis, I planted the raw seeds. I treated the tiny seeds as if the germination would be 100%. And it was. So thinning was productive and easy.
I don’t waist the seed starter seedlings . I scoop them out with a spoon , divide and get them into plant starting pots . It gives you the option of selling or giving some away
It doesn't get old.. I'm enjoying every one of ya'lls training videos. One question. How often would you water these assuming no rainfall? Couple of times a week? God bless. Mac
Thank you so much for showing us seed to harvest in one video! I love that!!! Did you do videos of your move to Florida? I would love to see when that happened. I love your Florida homestead!!!
Confession: I've been binge watching you. Question: after you give the initial blood meal (and bone meal and whatever else), do you do any other fertilizing? I suspect you don't since I haven't heard you mention any top dressing later on but thought it's better to ask. I'm convinced you can literally grow anything and if that's all the fertilizing you do, I'm here for it.

I planted some little gem lettuce in the summer (8b) in containers. They grow, but bitter. So I'm going to try again in couple weeks.
They will get milky and bitter in hot weather. They prefer cool temps👍
Great video, question, is top water u use to water ur plants with? and if so do u use any kind of filter device for chlorine etc? Thank u.
Hi Hollis & Nancy, can you also just cut a few leaves off the lettuce plant and have the lettuce plant keep growing?
Yes
Vert pretty lettuce

do you use well water or city water for your garden?
It’s still too hot here in Brevard County Fl, 9b. Got my seeds picked out though.
I was given a rabbit this summer. Now i have to plan his garden this fall.He loves to eat.
He will love you for that 🐇🐰
Hi Hollis, many of my veggies died. Cucumbers got fungus peach fuss what it looked like. Lettuce started growing but died peas started growing but died. We had several heat wave temp. Over 90° 101°.

My question now is can I re-use the dirt to plant fall veggies??
Oh my potatoes just gave me 1 tennis ball size and 2 cherry size 😞
Since you harvested the entire plant. Will it regrow again?
Hollis what is your container mix made of?
Its 108° here....all week. Got my seedings under 40% shade cloth
I got a new phone so I had to find you all I watch you because of Jesus Christ
Hollis, what is the brand of your little tiller and do you recommend it?

@@HollisNancysHomestead thank you so much!
Hi, my question is: once you cut the leaves off a full grown plant will the plant send up regrowth?
Hollis what breed dog is you and Nancy’s dog? I so want one. Loved this video
I'm guessing Jack Russell
Jack. Russell and Dachshund mix
Bing Bing is tooooo cute!!!
Hollis what is the name of you sprinkler attachment? Love to purchase one!
Those lettuces look delicious 😋 Do you grow Cos lettuce in Florida ? It's very long leaved and crispy. 🌍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌍
Since I'm only using containers does it matter what soil I use? Potting soil or container soil?
Potting mix is a stand alone soil to be used with nothing else added. Go with the potting mix👍
Waiting for my seeds to come up!
What medium of soil did you use….. what % black kow and what else?
