Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Dream Worlds, Dates, and Death (Ending Deep Dive 2)

- Aerith's final free moments, possibly ever. A date. Where Dreams and Worlds and meaning become one. Where heroes fight for the right to exist, where deities exert their initial salvos of direct cosmic warfare, where every innocent detail comes alive with intense meaning, and where two people discover something in each other. The next instant they'd have would be when Cloud is vainly trying to stop Sephiroth from killing Aerith.
Answers and questions arise like an army caught awash in the flood of relentless emotion. The best and the worst happens, and from it Cloud, Aerith, and Zack are forever changed. As is Biggs and every other beloved entangled to these three direly entrenched heroes.
It is humbly recommended to have already watched the previous episode of the Ending Deep dive, for better contextual awareness of some of the ideas presented:

Incredible video. My eyes became shiny towards the end. I hope we can still save Aerith somehow but even if that's not the direction of the new narrative... I'm awaiting how Cloud interacts with Aerith in his imaginative state. I like them as a couple so any more interactions with Cloud and Aerith are treasured for me.

Aerith doesn't lie, she has good reasons to believe what she is trying to convey, and so do I. I am hopeful and I trust, that the story's buildup will pay off in the end. I believe that the devs have cooked an ending for part 3, that will leave us speechless.

You've done it again!
The lifestream in the putting cloud together sequence being the same design as the torn world is a wild discovery. And I completely missed that cloud didn't see the feather fall during the dream date.
I'm interested in seeing how the theme of memory plays into this solipsistic dreamers create world narrative. And its interplay with the idea of Fate. 10x more interesting than the og's and finally deep diving into how the world of ff7 truly works.
. I thought meteor just came out of nowhere in the og and they missed some opportunities. I think the being doomed theme will hit significantly harder this time around

This thing going on with Cloud, it feels a lot like Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. I'm thinking that scene when Palpatine explains Darth Plagueis this Wise and immortality.

This was pointed out to me. In the Ultimania (Kindle version at least), in a blog on the Edge of Creation it's mentioned that Sephiroth carries the burden of the universe of death, and Cloud carries the burden of the universe of creation.

Zack in Rebirth is a leaf in the wind. So happy he had at least one good scene right at the end.

I wanna ask you something about the end scene of the game.
Sorry if you already brought the topic in a previous video.
What’s your take on The fact that Aerith is not impacted by the environment surrounding her when she walks around her friends (when the tiny broncos engine blows out Cait sith’s cap is moving but not Aerith hair or clothes and she only reacts when she sees Barret and Cait reacting) but she is by the end when the Tiny bronco’s is ready to take off.
Knowing that all that scene is seen trough Cloud’s eyes. It’s like Cloud sees her because of his new « ability » but the devs tricks us by adding the prism of a word/conscientiousness where she is dead (she is presented to us like a ghost) and then they show her trough the prism of a word she is alive interacting with her environment. But it would mean the tiny bronco exist in this reality too ? What about the rest of the party ?
Odd stuff during the end credit the last screens we see of the party is during the boss fight’s cut scene, the last time we see cloud is when he is holding Aerith in his arms. They skip all the lake scene and only show Aerith for the last shoot. It made me wondering if something happen to them during the boss fight.

You've hit upon a key detail that I will get into in a later Ending Deep Dive.
It's definitely of notice that Aerith's physical manifestation doesn't respond to the engine blow out, but does respond to whirring of the blades. What's especially interesting is that her physical manifestation responds to the wind the whole time. And she is able to maintain manifestation even after Cloud has flown scores of kilometres away.... :)
It's as if worlds are being brought together, like a reunion.

@@dreamphoenix Nice. It’s like she doesn’t make sound but at other moments we hear her footsteps.
Did you notice that when Cloud starts watching her we don’t see Tifa and Nanaki in the background despite the fact that we can identify the spot they are sitting on when Aerith is close to them. Then she looks up to Cloud and he sees the 3 of them. It maybe just a mistake, they forget to add them in the background or they took a sit after the beginning of the scene.
@@Foxheimer I'll have to watch for that specifically as I definitely didn't notice. If you don't mind, could you give me an idea of when are Tifa and Nanaki not in Cloud's view?

At 0:27 Cloud starts watching Aerith and we don't see them.
At 1:39 He sees them
And I'm almost 100% sure their spot is already entirely visible at 0:27 probably a mistake but a big one.
@@Foxheimer Wow! Just watched and you are absolutely right. Tifa and Nanaki also aren't visible at 0:11, the wide angel shot from Cloud's perspective. But once Cloud notices them as Aerith walks to their position, they remain in view.
Though Yuffie could easily be blocked by Cloud's head, she also isn't visible from Cloud's initial perspectives.
This could be a mistake, but as:
At 0:48 Cloud can clearly be seen in the background, and all the rocks and flowers match location between perspectives, and considering this is SE whose engineers spent many hours figuring out the train schedule for all of Midgar so that the timing of trains in Remake was holistic... I'd wager this isn't a mistake. And the implications are alarming.

What is decision point? Spot where timeline splits?
Exactly that! The point in space and time on which the divergent worlds are based.
I use 'decision' because choice and action seems to be the most common progenitor for worlds.
