  • How to use the Foster inhaler - a practical demonstration and review of important information about this device. I talk about what it contains (medication), how it is most commonly used, common errors when taking it and important tips to help you gain the most benefit.
    Foster is a very common inhaler used for asthma and COPD. It is a combination inhaler containing an inhaled corticosteroid (antiinflammatory agent) and a long acting bronchodilator (drug which opens up the airways). It is an MDI inhaler, which means it is a pressurised container which releases a puff when triggered. There is another version of this inhaler, in a different device containing dry powder - the NextHaler (see how to use this one here: • NextHaler (Foster/Fost... ).
    Always discuss with your doctor about your inhaler treatment, to make sure you are using the intended doses for your own particular case.

    thanks. Neither my 2 docs nor the pharmacist told me how to use it correctly, nor told me that I had to wash my mouth after. I didn't know that it had to be synchronized exactly that way.

      @@beckhyniazi2939 I've been using my fostair since January this year. I find it difficult using it without the spacer. The spacer is recommended I take it with me all the time.

    Thanks for this, doc! I was advised to use this after Using Seretide for several years. Cool to know that it’s both a control and rescue med in one

    I just got this inhaler and changed from cymbicort, I've noticed its given me a very dry cough and even last night I had a sore throat and think this is the culprit. Is this a common side effect?

    Does anyone understand the counter at the back? Mine was showing 121? Why didn't it start at 1? My last one started at 114? I am so confused?

    • @ktrnlpzs
      @ktrnlpzs 2 года назад +2

      It’s a metered dose inhaler so the counter at the back tells you how many actuations or puffs you have left. The box or the canister would tell you how many actuations you can get out of 1 inhaler.

    • @DrStefanCristianStanel

      made a video trying to answer this in more detail. however in theory yes, your doctor may prescribe an inhaler in another situation as well

    Can you use the fostair canister in the ventolin one, I don't fancy carrying a pink inhaler around with me. Thank you. Very informative.

    It is advised to not use this after 3 months after the date dispensed but has not expired. Can I still use it? It's unused and I don't want to throw it away lol

    • @DrStefanCristianStanel
      @DrStefanCristianStanel  Год назад +1

      these are the instructions from the producer because it is transported and kept cold in the pharmacy and after it is dispensed it should be kept and used at room temperature for up to 3 months. Can double check with your pharmacist though
