In this video, I'm going to show you how to make a simple five strand crochet braided headband. I’m using size 4 medium weight yarn and I’m using **TWO** strands of this yarn to make the braid thicker. Using one strand just didn’t do it for me. You could also use a chunkier yarn and a larger size hook (to fit the yarn).
I hope y'all enjoy! Please let me know if you have any questions.

I am twelve years old and I love crocheting 🧶 I followed your video and it came out just like yours thank you so much 😊
it's 1 am and I'm shopping for yarn... guess who's gonna have a cute headband for this winter? You guessed it right, EVERYONE AROUND ME! :V
😂
😂
😂
😂
Lol I was thinking the same!!! (In my Oprah voice) You get a headband! You get a headband!!!😂😂
Great tutorial, and looks very easy. Since I love headbands, I really have to try this one! Thank you 🙏 for taking the time to make this wonderful tutorial.
I love how she teaches, she is nice and loud I can even hear her once I don't need to repeat the videos
Excellent video. I am going to start one tonight. I love that you went fast and didn't fill time with endless chatter.
I love that you love that! Haha, I try not to waste people’s time 😉
This was my very first project and now I can’t stop making headbands. You’re so beautiful and your tutorials are amazing!
I looooove this. So pretty. I can’t wait to make it. I’m new at crocheting...and already eager to make new things. So happy I found your site. You’re excellent at explaining, and demonstrating, each step into the project I’m crocheting.
So good! Once you start learning new stitches and techniques you can literally make anything. It’s such a versatile hobby.

This is super cool! I was taught by my mom and I usually learn from her and hardly ever watch youtube videos... This changed the game entirely for me and I thank for that because I never realized how easy this headband was!
Oh, so useful to learn how to braid correctly ! Thanks a lot !
How to braid for headband
I am in love with this. I just started learning to crochet and this will be too on my list to do. I love winter headbands and can never find ones I really like. I seriously can not wait to do this. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks a bunch. Just finished mine. It looks nice. I was a little confused with the braiding but I figured it out. Can't wait to try the 2nd one.
Thanks for this! I made it for a gift, but I'm so tempted to keep! Perfect tutorial for a beginner like me!
That’s how you know it’s a good gift! 😂 At least that’s how I judge 🤷🏻♀️
I thought "this gonna be crazy cabling, uh oh... " turns out it pretty and easy to make..... Thanks
Man girl you are so creative!wow! It’s too cute!😀
FABULOUS video!! I’ve been crocheting for 3 plus decades and always looking for fun patterns with helpful videos. Thank you !!
Thank you!! Such an honor from a veteran crocheter! 🧶
You are very clever, I have not seen any crochet project like this before. Hat soff to you, dear.
Hahaha glad you enjoyed it! 💜💜💜
I absolutely love this.....I've never seen any headband like it & that greatly appeals to me. Will be making one for niece & me. Thank you!
Currently running a giveaway on Instagram for the written pattern if interested!
OMG!
I made it, and it came out better than I expected.
Thank you so much Crochet Beignet
.
Great instructions, fits perfectly! I did change it up only slightly... instead of cutting the yarn and starting a new chain for each of the 5 strands, i chained up 70 from the previously finished stand. So it ended up being 1 piece that looked like an octopus (with only 5 legs)... lol i hope that makes sense, it made it easier for me to put together at the end!
Fantastic idea; thanks for sharing.
I just started crotcheting and this is such a good tutorial! It looks super clean too! ❤️😊
This is an amazing tutorial. I like that you doubled the wool. It makes it really solid, nice & warm. You are easy to follow with your very clear instructions. Thank you......
Just finished mine!! Thank you so much. Very easy instructions and very easy to follow.
When start this project and don't realize that you finished at 2am... that was my night... however very happy with the results ❤
Awesome tutorial, so much easier than the headbands I was making. This will save me time and I love the look of the five strands vs a four stranded one.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS LOCKDOWN TO BE OVER SO I CAN START DOING THIS .. LOOKS COMFY AND COZY 😍😍
It's easy to follow the steps with the way you explain them. Loved it! I will do it soon, no doubt.
I saw a similar headband in a retail store and can't figure out how to make the braid and then I came across this video. Well explained and easy to follow. You just saved me $50 from buying it in the store. Weekend project ... here I came.
Omg that’s amazing!! *favorite comment*

This was my first crochet project (I learned to crochet like 3 days ago). Super easy to do and follow, took me less than an hour to make, super comfort, and so super stylish! My closet may or may not be filled with multiple colours of this! And like everyone else mentioned, in an Oprah voice, you get one, you get one, you get one, you get one!!!!
Really enjoy your crochet videos! I’m almost done with this one. Hope to see more videos from you 😊
So sweet!
Thank you so much for this video. I am part of a support group and we do crochet. I am not very good but I am learning. I wanted to give a special gift for a close friend who is like a sister as she has been through everything with me and never turned her back on me. This video finally gave me the idea for her christmas present. Thank you so much for this video.
So sweet. I hope she loves it!!

Thank you so much! This is so simple yet cute. It looks incredible on variegated yarn with all of the colours woven together. :)
Wow, I bet it is! I Love This Yarn has some cool prints, I might try it with one!
That’s what I was thinking. I’m gonna make a solid one first. Then I think I want to do one with each braid a different color!
I love this headband! Just finished mine yesterday...super easy video to follow. Thank you!!!
Yay! So happy!
I love your headbands and plan to make some for gifts.
This was my first video I've watched about crocheting. I like so many things about this video I can't even begin....the slow, visual process, calm voice, visual effects....great work and thanks!
So glad! Thank you so much!

Wonderful! I've been looking for a pattern for a wide crochet belt and I think I've found it! Thank you!
Oh, I love the tutorial. I will try and make a headband. Thank you!
Thank you for this awesome video. I am having a really difficult time with the braiding but I will keep trying.
Sorry! Try pausing after a few rows. Promise it gets easier!
Yes! I struggled with the braiding as there were five strips, but somehow it worked. I used two strands of Aran or worsted. It turned out well although I was not pleased with the join I did. Going to experiment with different yarns including super chunky.
I love it! Thanks for sharing this cute project!
So easy and pretty. Thank you for the tutorial.
Oh I made one tonight and it is GORGEOUS when its finished. Thank you!! I plan to make a few more :-)
Jody Wellborn did you double your yarn like she did?

Awww thanks so much girl!! You are too sweet! So glad you like them!
I love your tutorials! I really love when you zip through the parts that need it 😉 Great job!
Aww I am so glad!! I really love when tutorials are concise, so that’s what I try to do. You are maybe one of the first people to say that! It means a lot!
Crochet Beignet The braiding part was a challenge at first but I just kept with it. Finished my first for my daughter who lives in Alaska. She will love it! Thinking of lining it with something warm and fuzzy. I want to make one for a 6 year old. If you have made that how many stitches would I start with? Appreciate the help. Again, great job!
That is a fantastic idea. For a six year old, I might chain between 64-66. I haven’t made it in that size yet, but you really dont need to take much away!
I just crochet my first headband. You are so easy to follow, please post more videos
So exciting learning a new skill! Thank you! I will, I promise 🤦🏻♀️
Wow thought it would be much harder , perfect for last minute gift idea . Thanks for posting this
I LOVE those pillows
Amazon girl!
I loved your clear instructions. Thx so much,I subscribed.
I love this headband! The braiding part was a bit fast but the key is to memorize the left 3 strips & then the right 2 strips & alternate working them & together to get this 5 strand braid. It's actually the same concept as making the little friendship bracelets we made as children. Made myself a very elegant, classy looking headband. Thank you for sharing.
I am so glad!! Yes, once you get the hang of it, the braiding becomes second nature. It’s basically weaving. You can do this with hair too! That’s actually what gave me the idea!
How many more chains would I do to make a size larger?
U have made it so easy I have seen some other videos and those are damn confusing! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful work. Looks great on too
I did it with a much thinner kind of yarn but it's as cute and I love it😍
Właśnie skończyłam przepaska wygląda świetnie dziękuję 😍🤩
