  • Pokemon Legends: Arceus is not even close to being a flawless game, but it might be the most fun Pokemon game I've ever played.

Wtf. I watched the whole video and NOW i see, this is just watched by 289 people? This shocked me more then if i would have seen 500.000 views. Great video. No beginner errors. Nice voice. Entertaining. Great job.

Omg never has that Reggie quote felt so relevant. All of the things we are missing in games today. I almost freakin' teared up! Miss that son of a gun.
On another note, now I wanna try this game

This is so interesting to watch because I felt the exact opposite at pretty much every turn. Arceus was probably the least streamlined of any Pokemon game for me. Alpha Forms went through this weird never-quite-right feeling for me where sure, the first time I saw one it was a rush, but then after that it ranged from "oh great now it's a pain in the ass to go anywhere near there" to, later on in the game, "oh great a slightly longer fight that feels exactly the same as the others". The battle system changes felt like one step forward, two steps back (being able to switch moves at will is so great but then they scrapped held items which makes everything feel oversimplified, and tried to make up for that with a half-assed attack speed mechanic). The overworld catching was cool when it just let me do it on my own, but every time I felt like I was really getting into the groove of things and ready to continue exploring new lands, I hit that classic "um actually please capture 50 more Bidoofs" roadblock. Everything I felt like I at one point wanted to do became less and less interesting, because they tried to force an extrinsic motivation onto something that was already intrinsically motivating. It went from my favorite first 5 hours of any Pokemon game, to a forgettable experience by the end.
To be clear, this doesn't mean this video isn't great. I always find it fascinating to hear someone disagree with me so wholely, and you describe your perspective so well. Glad that Chill Games video popped up on my recommended so I could watch the rest of these hidden gems.

Yeahhhh, looking back (especially after attempting to catch Arceus and realizing what a slog that is) my opinion on this game has dropped a bit, it just felt so nice to play a Pokemon game that actually felt new and different after I had a pretty bad time trying Sword/Shield. In a lot of ways I think Violet/Scarlet is the best Switch pokemon game, but it has it's own big mess of issues and 'one step forward two steps back' changes lol. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!

The last couple days have been crazy but reading this on one of my other videos that nobody really watched is absolutely wild and means so much, thanks a ton!
