    I must say Rob that you gave the tool a real workout with all of those different vehicles. Unfortunately, it looks like it's not available here in the US. I figure if Amazon doesn't have it, it wouldn't be anywhere here. Looks like a pretty good tool! :)

    I rented a car a couple years ago in Germany and I didn't know it has that "stop/start" system. It freaked me out. I had my wife translate the owners manual for me so I could disable it. Anyway, the technology is here and were stuck with it. That tool is completely up to date and I especially like the "life" estimate. Helpful to show customers exactly what's going on...either that your they'll think your selling them snake oil. :)

      Yes Wyatt it’s great evidence to show them. Start/Stop takes some getting used to for sure.

    Sweet tool Rob! I have the Snap-on EECS550A Wireless which is great b/c I can do all the loading and accel/decel but it doesn't have a printer on it which would have been a nice feature but it has an IR dongle that you can transmit to a regular printer. Hubitools have some nice tools especially when they give them to you! Cheers Rob!

    I finally found the thermal paper rolls. Man that took some searching. Seems that JB Tools and a few others sell a 6 roll pack for about $15.

    Having a print function really makes it an perfect and verified tool requirement for a garage or shop servicing customer vehicles. This looks similar to the Solar models from Clore Automotive.
    Both the Hubitools and the Solar seem to be very reliable. I can verify for the Solar but this is the first time to see a Hubitool product. What I also like besides all of its capabilities is that it is testing the complete system while the battery is fully connected. Can I ask a couple questions of you?
    1) What is the average price that someone might pay for this tester directly from a tool supplier or factory - not from a discount third party seller, such as E-Bay or Amazon? E-Bay and Amazon sell the Clore Automotive equal Solar BA427 ($350 - $450) or Solar BA327 ($300 - $400).
    2) How much are the printer paper rolls?
    3) Where do you get replacement paper roll?
    4) Saying you did 2 average type battery tests with a printout a day, how long (days) would the paper roll last in an average shop or garage like yours?
    Thanks for showing us this and this is a really great video. And I sent you a couple cups of some JavaJoe. Brother man, I know it ain't much but it really atm, it's is all I can do. Wife's gonna fly off the crockpot when she see's the bills, lolz =-b. That's my piss poor attempt to a laughing man's thumbs up. Brother-man, stay warm and enjoy a couple much deserved Java breaks.

      Thanks Rick for the Java brother! Glad you found the thermal rolls. I’m still on the first roll and have printed loads out. I think these testers are about £300 inc tax. I looked up your Solar one and it’s over £500 here! Thanks for your donation and kind comments 👍

    Great tool ,Is there any reason why a NON stop start car, can`t have a Stop start battery fitted in the car , as I only do short journeys my normal lead acid battery starts failing after 18 months as it does not get long enough charge,
    So I figure using stop start battery may be best, But I don`t know if the cranking amps or ma or technology of the battery may not be ideal for my alternator,
    Any advice would be great thank you

    Like most people, I tend to wait until a battery leaves me temporarily stranded, then get a boost and test. That leads to an overnight trickle charge, topping up electrolyte with distilled water and rewarming, and then testing with an old style carbon pile tester the next morning. Because the first freeze in October is an extra challenge to a borderline battery, like most people I tend to replace batteries in the fall when a crisis has forced my hand. As you point out, new style testing can identify a gradually failing battery before leaving the driver stranded, at the expense of fixing the problem before it's broke. I suspect I probably get an extra year out of a failing battery, if I wait for it to practically fail compared to replacement based on routine regular screening. If that is true then I will guess I get about 20% longer life out of a battery, which isn't a big saving. The inconvenience of asking a stranger for a boost needs to be considered, not to mention risk and possible expense. Also Hybrid cars don't give the same kind of early warning by the sound of a slow crank, and their accessory batteries are notoriously weak. The biggest issue in my opinion is whether the predictive power of conductance testing is good enough to throw out a battery based on a fail. Interestingly, one company working in this area described some batteries that fail the day they are sold new, since estimation of CCA's are often exaggerated. That company also identified marked variance in the predictive power of conductance testing based on the frequency and technique used. Traditionally a low frequency for conductance testing is used but they showed that an amalgamation of data using various frequencies gave better predictive power and fewer false positives. They further showed that you can't reliably test an undercharged battery, so it's hard to escape the standard method of an overnight warm and trickle charge if you want good data. In the end, they suggested routinely testing batteries every three months, so that a curve of conductance data for a battery can be plotted to show the slippery slope of declining function. That technique would be especially useful for a solar array or other battery banks, with one testing device so that results are standardized. I would hesitate to take action based on one reading unless I was sure the battery was warm and well charged, and the battery had other evidence to support the diagnosis of failure. Nice video, Rob!

    Nice job with the review Rob. I hate start/stop technology, for some reason it is annoying as hell to me. Would Hubi just sell me the alligator clamps that connect to the terminals? My old nipple clamps are weak and worn out. :)

      Me too Glen, I’m not a fan of it. Annoying if your backing the car in the workshop etc. The clamps have one side that is serrated so would make great nipple clamps.. send them a message 😜

    Is it true that agm start stop batteries don’t last much longer than 3 years?

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  4 года назад +1

      Like any other battery really. I find that they are the main cause of the stop start from not working. They still start the car ok but when the life gets lower the PCM will stop the stop start function from operating

    • @Mickytdi
      @Mickytdi 4 года назад

      One Auto, i just feel the Varta AGM in my 3 year old Passat isn’t what it used to be. It’s rated at 680 EN and when it was new it read 780 ish amps. Today it reads 600 amps ( a friends 4 year old exact same battery still reads 750amps).
      Stop start works mostly. I have seen SOC on vcds drop down to 58% for no reason and then it would be 80/90% the next day. When it drops i get the power consumption is high and start stop won’t work for about 10 miles. It will then work flawlessly for another week or 2 if the soc doesn’t drop.
      Another thing that happens is sonetimes after a cold start i find the heated steering wheel turns itself on, some sort of glitch.
