Nice thing about being modern - more possible for great artists to meet. Actually, is true - more good artists live longer, distances are "fewer"... Is the reason this music is reaching such heights. The interaction, the intertwining of instruments and melodies - it's not only a blast to listen to, but so much fun to watch each master musician being impressed, inspired and entertained by the other. The reactions mid-performance to each other's contributions, in addition to seeing how each is riveted to one another while playing the most complex of arrangements. The silent acknowledgement of each player to the other's solos and then to finish with a subtle, verbal high-five. Masterful in every way. Thanks for blessing us with the joy you both bring the music and each other's performance.
Incredible talent. At 1:35 Chris start a run and Bela gives him a look that says it all. And again at 2:50 they land together and trade a great smile, as if to say "Yeah, that's how it's done"
The 2:50 one was nuts, they're just off playing God knows what, making brains warp with some shit you can't even comprehend let alone remember there's an actual song structure they started with, and then just bam, back to your regularly scheduled programming
Beautiful music. I love how Bela's Picking is still jawdroppingly complex, but (to me personally) so much gentler and soothing than his work with the Flecktones. The new records is I think one of those albums that I will keep listening to discovering new things every time. It has but one drawback...I have to fight the urge to put my banjo back in the case because I know that this level of playing as waaaaaaay out of my reach.
I was thinking the exact same thing! Love the Flecktones and what they did for a season. Bela's playing is still so technically complex, yet... gentler. I think it's the beard!
These two are really leading the way in terms of modern improvisation across genres and just in terms of skill and unbelievable musicianship. It really doesn't get better IMHO!

The complexity of this tune and its utter musicianship and craftsmanship of you both immiediately brings "Bicyclops" into mind, which by the way was the first tune by Béla that I ever heard. I'm following you both guys since late 1990s, first "Tales" record for Béla and "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" for Chris. Both of those records are still in my top 10, and it's always such an immense pleasure to hear and see you two play together. Thank you!
