I was there and I will play this continually for the rest of my life for my family and remind them. Eventually they’ll develop the reverence I felt when I watched it…some of the most talented musicians on the planet being goofy and then proceeding to play a beautiful medley. I wish the whole night was available. It was a treasure beginning to end.
I was there! I brought my 9 year old and he said it was "the best night ever!" What an amazing experience to share with him and some of the greatest players alive!
The #1 banjo picker in the world along with the #1 mandolin player in the world along with arguably 2 of the best fiddle players around and a host of top tier musicians all on one stage! Yeah you can bet I'm gonna stop and listen :)!
This video completely captures what I love about Punch Brothers. The first song is nothing but pure fun as Chris T and Chris E along with Sierra Hull sing the Chipmunks' Christmas song as Noam reads fake letters to Santa. Then all of the musical talent on stage with both groups kicks in and they jam out an incredible instrumental version of the holiday classic Sleigh Ride. It's hard to find a combination of musicians of that level of talent who also don't take themselves too seriously and just wanna have fun.
Love your last sentence - my thoughts exactly. They're still sharing JOY with the audience, even though they're at a ridiculously, mind-blowing pro level on their instruments.
@bélafleck the description accidently has that it was 2023. Which if true I would like a lift in that time machine too when you have a min. ? 😉 that's for posting this. So cool. 💜
Get the fuck outta here. That was savage. That jam at the end needs to be watched by every musician just so we all know how large that mountain is to climb. Musical giants.
And here, RUclips, you can clearly see a textbook case of class recognising class. Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is for that LFG to mean "looking for group" so Jack and the boys join Béla Fleck and Punch Brothers on stage someday... What?!? A man can dream, leave me alone. Happy holidays, everyone!
@@scottlee-benner6610, I forget which service they used as I couldn’t parttake myself unfortunately. But they had an event on Facebook where they promoted it.
It was streamed on Mandolin and then they gave a rewatch period for 3 days after that. Usually it's just 48 hours for for some reason the replay was totally out of sync and the levels were all off for about a day after it came out.
Me either! How about we keep them but add some more ladies- Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O'Donovan, and Sara Watkins would be great ones to start with. I'll let someone else take it from there!
Honestly though, I would rather keep lineups based on whether people are fun to listen to together, and not so much on demographics. I do honestly believe that people like, Bela Fleck, Noam Pikelny , Chis Thile, etc. are some of the most famous modern bluegrass musicians because of their talent, not just because they know how to play an instrument and happen to be men.
Noam (Banjo guy) went to my high school...was born the same year i graduated.... But why does a nice Jewish boy want something for X-mas?!?!? To make amends, next year, you and Noam need to throw in with Dave Grohl's Hanukkah Sessions!! Aside from that, AWESOME collab and performance!

That second tune was really fun. Had the changes of Cherokee’s bridge. bluegrass bebop is all I want for Christmas.
So much talent and hard work coming together. Wow. So uplifting.

Insanely good. Love u guys (and gal)! Thank you so much for all the fabulous music in 2019,2020,2021,2022! God bless and protect u all.
It's like seeing the future. The future looks and sound great. Merry 2023 Christmas.
now it feels like Christmas...
WOW! One of the best collections of players assembled on one stage in bluegrass history
Just incredible. Looking forward to having this on at Christmas this year!

Yep. Casual virtuosity.
The letters from Santa were fake?
@@markmelville6670 But very real in one sense!
What a moment of complete joy to watch this... Just amazing!

Call me a skeptic, but I find it hard to believe that this was filmed on 12/15/23...
We saw this show live in Greensboro, NC on 12/13/22. It was a fabulous show.
@@touringdan I saw the Austin show on the 9th of December... in 2022. 2023 hasn't happened yet.
Great! 🎄
That was fun. Thank you everyone.

Sweet 👍
Time travel - this was filmed next year! I know all these musicians are also magicians on their instruments, but this is fantastic...
Things to come. :)
Brilliant! Wish I could have caught one of these shows.
Music nerd question: are Bryan and Critter throwing in a little homage to Tony Rice’s Manzanita starting around 4:44?
Best part of the video!!! Two of the world's greatest flatpickers right there!
Best band ive seen to date.. come back to indy soon
They were here December 15 at Clowes Hall.
My favourite Christmas treat (so far)!

Wow...as David Byrne would say...Burnin' Down the House!
Yes!
Thank you-happy holidays!
Put a big smile on my face and my heart!

Frigging Chris Thile.
Hilarious and amazing at the same time! :)

Genial 👍 saludos desde México
Bill Monroe was Dr. Frankenstein and these are his monsters!
Amazing! I would love to know how much rehearsal was required to be able to pull off such a complex arrangement. Bravo!
So freakin killer

Love it!!
Gotta love Thile's polytonal mando breaks.
Not to attribute everything that Punch Brothers do to Chris Thile, but I feel like we all know whose idea the first song was.
12/15/23 huh...cool.. that's neat..
I wish the whole shoe was recorded. Most of us don't have an opportunity to get to the shows all across the country.
