Look the Smiling Critters are genuinely the best designs I’ve ever seen and shit like this makes me depressed. Comic Dubs and shit like this used to just be quick fun to get up and coming voice actors and artists out there and now this is what they’ve become.
Well for what it’s worth, there’s a channel I found about a week back that does more wholesome (and still invoking some dread) end things with the characters. I personally enjoyed finding this, and just having to chuckle to myself that the Smiling Critters (as the toy line up and show series as eluded to in the actual game) would be both entertaining and the character personalities just do not work well together in some cases.
Honestly the creator did amazing with portraying each critter’s personality, Gemmi studios (think I spelled that right). I liked it, and hopefully you will too.
(Also it was feckin hilarious in EP. 1 [there’s only two rn, third in the works] when Hoppy Hopskotch pulled the soccer play of faking an injury)

I remember when I was at a restaurant with my brother at the beginning of the month there was another table where there was like a 2 year old kid watching videos with the volume up really loud. At a certain point there was a video with a lot of people screaming and so I came over to politely ask to turn it down. On the screen who do I find? Why, Huggy Wuggy. I wanted to so badly tell the family to pay better attention to what their kids watch, but that would've been really rude so I just kept to the noise issue. It's really horrifying seeing the young kids watching this cheaply made schlock in-person though.

I think the most infuriating thing is that the animation isn’t terrible in Buggy Huggy’s fake gameplay. It’s not fantastic per say, but it’s not horrible. The issue is that it’s getting put up next to a game made by some pretty solid animators. Like. If the dude just sat down and made his own mascot horror, it would be mid, but it would be more respectable and harder to mock.

uhyeah, idk if you know this but cougar macdowall recently got into trouble after releasing a genderbent hell’s greatest dad cover. not only did people slam him for his extremely suggestive thumbnails and content, but members of the vs tabi fnf mod team came out and talked about the way he mistreated them. it even got to the point that homskiy, the original owner of tabi, came back and took back ownership of his character from cougar. cougar’s promised to put mature content warnings on his future videos but that doesn’t negate the damage that’s already been done 😭

I’m surprised that content farms try to milk it and use it for kids.
The content farms try to avoid the mature and horrifying, brutal side of the game and just use the cartoon designs of the characters. Although their views start to decrease and decrease. Especially that one mukbang channel. At first they got 1 million views, now their newest video has only 100k views.
Safe to say that the iPad kids saw playthroughs of Chapter 3 and likely got disturbed enough not to view anymore content of Poppy Playtime.

Poppy Playtime is not for kids. The only reason why people think it is for kids, is because of the content farms and the children who loved it.
Chapter 1 is rated T for Teen on the PS5. Chapter 3 completely debunks the statements about why the game is ‘kid friendly’. So I highly doubt that Poppy Playtime is ‘for kids’

I mean, they will be and have been, but thats because RUclips as a site promotes this kind of stuff and its been like this for so long that i dont see it changing anytime soon if at all.
I'd recommend using other sites that dont monetarily incentivize making slop if you want more genuine creative works, like tumblr, spacehey, cohost, newgrounds, and other sites like them that rely on follows, reblogs/shares and a personal effort to find stuff you like rather than algorithms. Nebula is also a good video site if you're looking just for videos, it costs money though so that could be a deal breaker.
I think if you are just starting out, i'd recommend trying tumblr first because there are a lot of people on there who are willing to help new people adjust to the strange way in which tumblr and by proxy websites like it work.

Seeing what has become of Comic Dubs nowadays after my fond memories of Undertale Comic Dubs by people like Starbot Dubs, it's just... sad, really. I remember being absolutely glued to the screen for the Undertale Christmas Party AU dubs, and now instead of that we have... *this stuff*.
there were some seriously awful ones out there but the good ones overshadowed the creepy ones for me.

See, what sucks about content farms is that they bury the actually good stuff. There’s so many hidden gems that have come from actually talented people. For example, one I saw recently was a 2D animated version of the VHS where we hear the Prototype speak for the first time. It was awesome, had a bit of actually realistic blood, and was so well animated. No bright colours, no obnoxious sound effects, just pure art. And there’s got to be a few other stellar animations buried somewhere. It’s just so hard to find them 😭

I'll be honest, I love the Smiling Critters. They're the ONLY cartoon characters I've ever found cute. I found a lot of genuinely good fanart here and there, then I started finding the weird stuff. (Not like I actively seek this stuff out.) I found one "comic dub" video (that I didn't watch) that had CatNap and Dogday, I kid you not, having actual s*x on the thumbnail. (in their cartoon forms, mind you.) I felt like I was going insane, like why on EARTH would you draw something like that, let alone use it as a RUclips thumbnail? And the scariest part of these "comic dub video clickbait thumbnails" is that they're well drawn.
I Mat or may not have seen that thumbnail too 💀, it's crazy that youtube even allows this stuff to be posted. The only thing that I feel like prevented that thumbnail from belonging on rule 34 is the lack of visible private parts

Sucks too because as you said, there is indeed genuinely good stuff out there like the Wide Aweke AU thing and the Frowning Critters

Many Poppy Playtime fans genuinelly thought that with Chaper 3 getting darker ,content farms wouldn't continue making as much content about the game.
God, we were wrong
Well all the content farms are actually dying. Most of the content farms about chapter 3 I’ve seen get only 1k-70k views, they’ll eventually stop milking it very soon, even though channels like Hornstromp and gametoons exist. Hornstromp’s Poppy Playtime content is started to die out ever since Chapter 3 released. At first they reached over a million views, but now they get a couple hundred thousand views and barely reach 1m. They were so desperate that they even made a video about CatNap and the Prototype being in love, I really wish I was joking, but Hornstromp actually did this.
I feel like the children that watch these content farms likely never seen Chapter 3, and just watch because of the animations and the content farms making the characters more colorful.

Hey there is a NON mascot horror game and is a Really awful game is called TCOAAL for short and this game is a visual novel but is a edgy game but I think this game was mostly get content farm only in comic dubs because how bad this game is
People can do what they want, sure. I can't stop them. But the thing that just irks me the MOST is that DogDay x CatNap is a heavily prominent ship. There's more, of course, and I hate that. These are CHILDREN. CatNap turns into a monster, Dogday had his legs ripped off, and the rest of the Smiling Critters are presumably dead. In most art I find, they're drawn as the cartoon versions, as KIDS. It's just gross to me.. I don't understand why people do this to them ._.

I wouldn’t say Poppy Playtime is targeted towards kids, besides the merch. Chapter 3 is very brutal, and the previous chapters too to an extent. It’s probably the bloodiest mascot horror series right now.
Exactly. Just because there are content farms of a franchise or it’s mascot horror, doesn’t mean the franchise is for kids.
Chapter 3 showed a lot of blood and gore. Especially Body Horror. It’s going to a direction like Bendy is. Not to mention the devs stated that Chapter 4 will be even darker and better than Chapter 3.

Should've included fake speedrun content farms too. Best example of fake speedrun videos for Poppy Playtime is Poppy Woppy's videos. He cuts his videos left, right, and center, and passes them off as real world record runs, which is just low since it's incredibly obvious that he cut his videos. He even does it for chapters that aren't out yet, he's probably got 50 chapter 4 world record videos out now.
Well his channel is basically dead now. He still uploads, but he only gets a couple thousand views.

Honestly, I agree, they are the one thing I swear never to become. No matter if I remain a nobody youtuber who has no idea what I want to make. Then again, I got zero experience editing, and content farmers hire artists and animators, who sell themselves for money, which is reasonable. Everyone needs to make a living, so if making... *that* pays the bills and taxes. Who am I to argue? I'd probably sell out if I got more than ten grand a month. Though, it's probably a side hustle. Not that I'd ever dabble in that. "Kids Content Farm Channels" are just horrendous to me. I know my animations aren't the best, but at least they're original and me trying to self-learn! I'd jump on trends, that everyone does because the algorithm sucks balls preferring trend chasers above all else. Unless your already set as a top notch YT fav YTer. Preference often goes to people who post frequently and fill a certain niche. But I would never stoop as low to make that kids content garbage.
I want to be big, like DanTDM, StampyLongHead, CaptainSparklz, PopularMMOs, Markiplier, and I'm still there at the bottom of the YT algorithm barrel, but hey, at least I put effort into making something I'm proud of. Though I was directionless for a time, at least I want to be unique and try to make my stuff with what I got. No budget, free software, a few games, so I make do with what I got! It doesn't get many views, but it's better than adopting the content farmer clickbait strat.

One thing that makes me Kinda upset is that the Buggy Huggy channel is using stolen artwork for its profile and its art made By my one of my friends known as DarkVine, the fact they created badly made content farms and steal artwork and other content from hard working people. Its upsets me seeing the fact its using that artwork that she did. They even cropped it for there banner aswell all without permission or even credit to the artist.
I know her as well. She is a lovely person who keeps having people steal her art. I know she would be really hurt to hear someone use her art without credit and even edit it as seen by buggy's banner

THE WORST part about Comic Dubs with the "Smiling Critters", is that they're created as "Kids/Dead Kids", but people (Cougar Macdowall which I'll talk about) makes VERY subjective content about it.
There was a whole Twitter Doc of Cougar Macdowall, of getting himself into a controversy he doesn't even walk away from. Cougar Macdowall was part of a Friday Night Funkin dev who had 95% Minors working on the game, and when they find out that he made Subjective Comic Dubs BASED ON CHILDREN CHARACTERS, it completely shocked & unsettled them. They told him to stop making this type of shit, but COURGAR said he doesn't give a shit, he WANTS to keep going with it, this man's in his 20's. So they banned him from the Dev Team, even he was a main VA for that mod, and they sadly cancelled it. So EVEN TO here when I post this comment, Cougar is still doing his Subjective Smiling Critters Obsession.
I know lots of other people do the same as him too, but Cougar just knowing that they're children, and wanting to keep going, IS WAY TOO FAR. He's gonna get himself fucked over soon.

I love how the Homestuck music has slowly become more blatant over time. Went from sneaking Pumpkin Party in towards the end of the It Steals video to playing Time On My Side right out the gate. Choosing some of the best, too. Can't wait to hear Rex Duodecim Angelus slowly fade in during the first Indigo Park upload in a few months' time.
