You forgot the part where Garvey cannonicly starts killing in the story because "Kids laughed at him due to him having a condition that makes his skin purple".
I guess you can’t really appreciate child murder done well in media until you see child murder done poorly in media. The original FNAF games handling of the topic was impressive in hindsight.
The way implications, subtlety, lack of blood and gore and relying on our imagination an interpretation… there’s a reason the series took off like it did. Scott knows how to keep you invested
Sexual assault in horror can absolutely work, since losing control of your own autonomy is terrifying to everyone. But creators need to understand that they can't just throw it in to their work as easily as they can with murder. Someone who gets killed won't be hurt further by it happening in a game, someone who has been assaulted will.
Kind of explained it best out of the whole comment section for me right there. Touchy subjects, murder is the greater evil to me but it's less relatable in media due to the unfortunate commonness of sexual assault, and killing is kinda oversaturated to the point of desensitisation in vidya
I think Outlast 2 does this in a way that is right. It is part of the story and doesn't do it to be edgy, it shows the damage and insanity it can cause, I recommend playing it, it's really good
@@robjsmiles It leads to a situation where murder in horror is oversaturated, but the remaining topics that can be included tend to be a bit touchy, and go south VERY quickly if its mishandled. I would at least hope creators put lots of respect and effort into including these topics (sexual assault) rather than hamfisting it in as a standin or treating it lightly. In this games case, its a self insert which is gross as hell
I actually quite like Garvey's design, the idea of a Springtrap that is in such poor condition that it has to crawl on four legs to get around is pretty neat.
I think Dormitabus's portrayal of Purple Guy reminds me way too much of how the Elm Street remake tried to make Freddy Krueger a child predator. Everytime a horror franchise does this, it always seem they'd rather use the grim concept of SA for extremely tasteless shock value instead of making something actually carefully fleshed-out.
In the og they literally have him with pictures of children? He was basically a pedo right there? The remake just had the balls to state it, nothing new really.
I hate when people say William is a pedo because he’s not that evil and he’s just a child murderer. Good thing I now know that you said Scott has no Pedophillia in Fnaf
@@dodsonboys It really is people have assumed for years “William Afton is a pedophile” and I an so glad Scott finally shut that down a while back. He fired one of the artists because fans showed him she was writing NSFW where William was getting off on killing a girl. And talking to minors in the comments of the writing. It's gross.
As someone who got SA'd, thanks for giving a content warning and even saying bye if some of us wanted to leave before talking about this effed up shit. Makes me feel understood. I genuinely hope you have a nice day.
I am so sorry for you! If it’s too personal I understand. How old were you when it happened? I’m so sorry if you don’t want to tell me and I understand. You do not need to share your trauma with some stranger online. I hope you can get therapy and all the help you can get. I wish you best of luck ❤
I love how the second the creator of a game is found out to be a werido, everyone knows they can be 100% honest about the game and remove all sugarcoating talk.
As a kid, I genuinely found this game to look creepy and terrifying, because well, ugly environments and animatronics were creepy to me. But as a teen, I can see the argument of the designs being really ugly and just not creepy. It feels like they wanted to use the FNAF 3 vibes to the extreme, but it now feels goofy now.
Followed the development of this closely until I dipped out of the community entirely for a bit in 2016 (Lost interest and returned to Resident Evil with 7 coming around the corner at the time.) Similar sentiments. Didn't actually look at the final product until 2020. Learned that the game went through development hell for like 3 years, and eventually also about the not so good stuff and promptly decided to not play. Pretty much just follow the on goings of fnaf now while not really being a part of the overall community, but this is probably a game I'll never forget, for all the wrong reasons.
I don't recall exactly where or if it was ever confirmed to be true, but I remember someone claiming to have been the Garvey VA stating that the content in the game had been *toned down* from *actually explicitly stating* to simply implying stuff because even they, a dumb kid desperate for a quick buck at the time, were just *not* comfortable with the original dialogue.
something else to note, all the in universe attractions in the fnaf games are targeted towards younger kids, excluding the haunted house thing in fnaf 3, so the 15 year old thing was solely the creators own fantasy. if he was also in contact with a 15 year old at that time, it wouldn't surprise me
I’ve heard that Garvey’s VA was basically the only one fully aware of the creep shihs in the game, and actually had Blackout tone down the dialogue because they weren’t comfortable with the original lines. They were barely willing to use the lines they ended up going with.

Love the part where Dormitabus said ‘it’s Dormin’ time!’ Then proceeded to get arrested for several accounts of child endangerment. Definitely one of the fangames out there right now.
I definitely recommend the remaster, it removed the pedophilia, garvey’s no longer the joker, the game is stable (at least, it never crashed on me or failed to load assets), it is still difficult but in a fair way, and it looks a bit more appealing, hell, they even added new characters
I'd love to see him do a video on the remaster it's actualy a good game and the story is probably my favorite fan game storyline out there, and to be honest I really want to hear more people talk about the remake
Only in some parts, only story wise and not even because they removed pedophilia, it is simply better written and Garvey has better motivation other than being bullied because he was purple. They added like 10 more characters but they all share same mechanic and already existing ones had their unique mechanics removed.
I've been reading comments on how hard it is to incorporate rape and underage stuff into a game. Well there is 1 game i can recall that was really good at the situation it was given. Alice: Madness Returns is a twisted retelling of Alice in Wonderland. I've only played MR, but it starts out trying to help bring closure to your families murder, but the more you play, the more you find children being sold off to adults, what really happened to your sister, and what is the main goal of your therapist trying to rebuild your wonderland. It's a great game and i recommend it.
It was amazing. I did however think the villain in the last 10 minutes or so got incredibly “villainous” in an almost silly way. Saying this as one of my favorite games lol. But he definitely went a little overboard in his bad guy monologue and it took some of the seriousness out of the situation for me. He spoke just a little too much like a supervillain. Which felt a little weird looking at the carefully crafted subtext and imagery that implied the nefarious nature of the abuse the game was commenting on.
@@DelicateFlytrap well another game came to mind after I typed the comment, and it keeps a very depressing and serious tone to it. Silent Hill 2, more specifically Angela's backstory. She was abused and raped most if not all of her childhood, and it keep going until she was 15 or 16. But her mother ran away leaving her brother and father there to keep torturing her every day till one point she just snaps and kills her father (game only hints at her killing her brother but the novel confirms it) and runs away to find her mother at Silent Hill. Throughout the game she looks older, which is a symptom of most rape victims, and only sees men as sex-drivin pigs. Suicidal, bipolar, and yet, doesn't care if she lives or dies, she is a shell of a woman who was taken from her by force. When we encounter Abstract Daddy, we see what James interprets, but Ito confirms Angela sees something far more terrifying, her father. By the end of the game, we see her looking at 2 stretched human skins hanging up on the wall. Both are male, with their penises cut off. This symbolizes her father and brother, and how she wants them to be punished. She is a very unique character in character development in terms of nowadays game industries don't have the balls to show this type of stuff anymore.
@@smokeybanjoboy is she the one who only ever saw silent hill as being perpetually on fire? I remember 2 but all the names are mixed up in my memory. my age I played 3 way more lol.
EXACTLY. mf acted like ppl were calling him out for no reason even though there's a huge scroll of reasons on why he's horrible "yeah, i may have a thing for r4pe and necroph1lla .. and i've talked to a child sexually, but leave me alone !! i did nothing wrong !!! you're all so mean >:["
i dont think its appealing for the majority of those with that headcanon, just quite scary. I'm sorry but every horror villains who kidnaps childrena nd has an bsession with targeting children will always feel "icky" to me, until clearly disproven by the creator/s. Might be because of my childhood but idk, seeing someone targeting kids for violent shit, for murder, for torture, for very dark and twisted things will ALWAYS make me feel weary and wonder "what if there's more? What if they're doing something else?". Which is why I think lots of people will have that headcanon. I might have heard too many cases of p3d0ph1les killing or torturing kids after SAing them, but now I'm always with that doubt.
@@EveTheRaviolo For William's case, it's probably because kids have less control over their pain and fear. And that's what is needed to produce Agony and Remnants.
The thing I remember about this game is how absolutely exhausting it is. Not necessarily the gameplay, but just the whole tone and atmosphere. It felt like doing the thing you've been procrastinating so you don't have to do.
This is exactly how I felt first learning of this game via Markiplier. I didn’t watch much past when he started playing because it was just so... grating. It's like someone took a set from Saw and then jammed in a bunch of shitty character models in SFM/Garrys Mod. The mechanics for each character make for less of a "juggling stressful tasks" thing like UCN and more of a "ugh what the fuck is happening now?" because it's all just "run to the other side of the room when he shows up" "look at the ceiling when he shows up," "do blah blah blah when he shows up." There's no challenge or tension, it's just bombarding you with gross, low-quality characters either staring at or jumpscaring you.
@@darkpain2452 Oh. Well, I might not be able to do much, but I hope that despite all the pain and evil in the world that you keep going. Hope you’ll do well in the future and I wish you good luck in whatever endeavors you may have.
Well you can make something dark but not in an edgy way. For example berserk and how guts abuse ties to his character development and finding someone who he can relate. I'm no expert but it's kinda hard to make it without being edgy as fuck.
Pedophilia can work in horror if it's done respectfully, but to do it respectfully requires three things. 1. It makes sense for the story to go in that direction 2. You understand the tone and audience and take into account whether or not it fits. and 3. IT ISN'T YOUR WEIRD FETISH Some how this manages to miss all three of these points.

Given the amount of creeps, losers, and pedos our community has gotten over the past 9 years, we definitely need some sort of "Hall of Shame" wiki for these types of people.
Yeah, people need to be aware of the gross individuals that plague the community so they can better protect themselves against future offenders. When enough people know about these creeps, we can take further action against them.
In my opinion, having dark topics like what was discussed in the video isn’t bad…IF it’s handled with care. Many games like TLOU, Fallout NV, Wolfenstein, Witcher, and Cyberpunk all deal with heavy topics but 1) are rated for adults and 2) talk about those subject in good and respectful ways.
all the gross stuff aside, cutting out your audio and then having a screen that says "all quiet, so you can concentrate better" when you hang up on phone guy is amazing
I feel like making William Afton implied to be sexually abusive *could* work if it was done tastefully. Like, freddy Krueger was always sorta implied to be a child molester in the nightmare on Elm Street movies, but it wasn't dwelled on and was heavily implied rather then going into horrific detail about the shit he did. I feel like something similar could work with William afton if it was actually done tastefully. Also, there's just the unfortunate fact that fnaf mainly appeals to children, so doing something like that to begin with would only be able to be acceptable if the rest of the interpretation of fnaf was clearly aimed at an older audience, like what I said in the above paragraph could never fly in the mainline fnaf series. Fuck blackout. Don't fuck kids.
Hell at least a little trigger warning at the start before the title screen like DDLC did would of been good too. Idk just something to clue the player in that there is serious shit in the game that kids or ppl with CSA triggers wouldn’t want to see. It’s why those trigger warning pages exist for art tackling seriously triggering subject matter. For ppl who get upset by this stuff. Tho I guess that’s asking to much from a pedo.
I agree. I read a fantastic rewrite fanfiction of the first 4 games on A03 where William brutally manipulates one of Michael's friends into doing his bidding and helping him kill kids. It's very cultish and there are some dubious consent scenes but it's handled in such a way that it feels respectful and it never goes into ridiculous detail. But it doesn't hold back on showing what a monster he is to Michael. In this rewrite, he was a totally vapid and ghoulish person but it was written so well that I truly didn't have any qualms with it. Unfortunately, it got onto tiktok where the author was lambasted by newer eyes and she had to archive it, but it was an incredible piece of writing and I wouldn't have an issue with a game having similar themes. People seem to forget that William (in the games) KILLED CHILDREN AND SACRIFICED HIS OWN. He is not a good father. Yes, it's funny to thirst over the fanart and make fun of BurnTrap, but he was never a good person.
Hello, I am one of Nicchi/Blackout's Victims and I really enjoyed your video and I'm glad you didnt spend too much time on the acts Blackout committed, especially towards me which is the one people have used a lot for their videos despite that Blackout has done similar acts to others in the past. I've typed about 2 comments on two different videos on Dormitabis (by HazyGray and ItsKynn) that go into more detail on the situation in regards to my involvement with interacting with Nicchi/Blackout, but I have thankfully/unfortunately repressed the whole situation from my mind, and I doubt anyone would ever want to believe me. I don't want to leave a comment by me that goes into paragraphs and details on every video about Dormitabis because of my interactions with Nicchi, that would be exhausting and would look like me grabbing attention unfortunately. Regardless, It is very strange to me how now, despite being 5 years since the whole incident, that the whole issue regarding the developer has only now made a massive resurgence, and I'm glad to have a voice now thanks to that and people like Nicchi be finally exposed to a broader more public audience, so thank you for being one of them. Anyway, very great video you made! I enjoy these forms of videos and what they can entail! Keep up the good work!

Honestly, even before I found out about the controversy with the creator, the rape subplot always made me uncomfortable, not only because it was a 15 year old,but also because of Havoc Chica's description saying the reason her arms are so long mirrors her death. Just the implications that she was pinned down in her final moments is super unsettling and disturbing The whole thing is just needlessly cruel and distasteful. It doesn't even make sense from a narrative perspective. It would have made sense if this was an older woman that Garvey was obsessed with or something, not a 15 year old who he has no connection to,but even then sa is such a sensitive topic that it shouldn't have even been included to begin with
@@Blitzs02 what happened is that Garvey killed a fifteen year old girl named Maria, but as you find out in one of the audio tapes, he also raped her before killing her. In the description for Havoc Chica in the Animatronics menu,it says that her long arms are a sign of her cause of death, which implies she died while being pinned to ground by Garvey
For me this FNAF fan game is one of those rare moments where it's literally impossible to separate the art from the artist. I mean the fact that Blackout's interpretation of William Afton is supposed to be a self-insert of himself and given what the puppet figure cutscenes imply he does to Maria in the game makes it even harder to do so. I learned about most of this stuff that he did from a FNAF fangame iceberg video a few months ago and yeah it convinced to never touch this game. Kinda makes me glad people are finally not praising this as much cause honestly even the story for this game doesn't make sense.
@@languid-4535 You know in a way I'm glad that this game is gonna be remade with a completely different team of people cause hopefully the remake will be so good that it will make us forget about this version.
worst part is (in regards to separating) is that even if you separated, it'd probably feel like its just..outta of nowhere and not fitting for the character - so even if you could, it wouldnt change how badly things were done, theres some situations where you might think 'oh this perfectly fits the character' but this is absolutely not one of them to most people at least not saying it could never work, but here? with afton? just feels very off
I don't think it's impossible to touch on heavier-than-usual topics even in FNAF fangames, as long as proper research into said topic is done and it's handled with sensitivity and caution. That being said, this game uses the topic of SA (on a minor no less) as nothing more than cheap shock value. Even worse considering Blackout themselves has performed similar activities.
As a long time fnaf fan and a survivor of several years of childhood SA, this game makes me Incredibly sad and disgusted. And the person that made it makes my blood boil. People like that have no place in the Fnaf community or any community for that matter. And i apologize to Scott for the great disservice people like this dev does for his franchise that he worked so hard to build over so many years. Thanks Scott for making a community for so many to enjoy. And I am deeply sorry that this creep essentially spit in the face of everything you have worked so hard on.
@@atanaZion I didn't say he works with them. I said I felt horrible that people like that make fan games because it's an insult to everything Scott's worked towards.
Yeah I had to learn the meaning ages ago PURELY because of the Mennard shippers (Michael x Ennard) how much I wish I could go back in time and forget about this ship
@iquestionsanity at this point, i just dont care, mennard is clearly toxic and wrong, besides one part being baby, and the other being it fucking killed him, hell when i waa thinking of up aus for fnaf i always went with "michael doesn't like his family, and if they murder someone then someones gonna die"
After seeing the "all quiet for you to concentrate" easter egg, makes me wonder if anyone has ever made a challenge run with the whole game being completely silent
One of the most sad parts about this game, is this was so many people's passion, but all because of one man, it was destroyed. I have multiple cases of black out not even revealing the story to the devs, and only the Garvey VA knew fully what it was with black out
I wouldn't surprised if Blackout had a folder filled with R34 of kids like the Missing Kids (Gabriel, Jeremy, Susie, Fritz, Cassidy, Charlie), the 2 Afton Kids: (Evan/C.C, Elizabeth) and some others such as younger versions of Adult characters like Mike as FoxyBro from FNAF 4 or Young Mary Schmidt from FNAC 3 and kids from the Movie like Abby, also he's probably a Shadman Stan.
I'm not gonna pretend that a serial child killer being a pedophile is an insane conclusion to draw, but at the end of the day that's just not a part of the franchise. If Scott says the killer's not a pedo, then he's not. End of story. Doesn't help if the dev is a pedo though, good riddance. This franchise is definitely NOT for self-insert fantasizing of any kind, let alone whatever the hell this is.
Yeah, it’s pretty rare for child killers to NOT assault the children. That’s pretty much usually the _point_ of targeting children. William Afton is an absolute exception to the rule, and seems to target children specifically because they’re the easiest prey. Luring and wrangling an adult to kill is very difficult compared to a small child, and aside from that it’s not like adult souls don’t make remnant. It’s literally just an efficiency concern of William’s. Killing children is an easier task in every conceivable way. ^That kind of clinical, cruelly efficient logic isn’t what motivates most child killers in real life. It’s pretty much unique to William Afton.
@@baydiac I agree completely. I remember seeing this same issue in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise when the reboot decided to try and turn Freddy into a predator and not just a child killer. I don't know why there's a weird fixation on trying to dial up on the vile nature of a character beyond the limit. When writing an evil character, why is there an inability to express just how vile they are without bringing in the assault of children into it? I'll never know.
Serial killers are rather varied and the most infamous act is of sexual aggression. I’m not sure if most serial killers commit their murders out of a sexual pleasure or to violate their victims, but what I do know is that Scott didn’t make William a pedophile because he didn’t want overt sexual themes in his games. Scott stays mostly on the kid friendly side as much as possible with the horror genre
If I had a nickel for every prominent fnaf creator who was into rape fantasies of purple guy or afton raping kids, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.
the "hang up" screen is honestly really cool and quite unnerving, but I feel like the major issue with it would be the whole... silencing the entire game part. other than that, probably the best part of the game imo
I think it being an Easter egg is good because you only get a chance of it silencing the whole game Ngl, i thought it was pretty funny/clever, this games one saving grace, apparently
oh yeah i completely agree!! i’d even go as far to say that i think it silencing the whole game so death is inevitable would have the perfect amount of petty if the phone guy ACTUALLY GAVE SUBSTANCE TO THE GAME!! if he isnt giving you any good tips, then was that necessary? otherwise, the fear factor was great for me. perfect amount of disturbing
I don't think including dark topics like pedophilia is inherently a bad thing but the game handled it so poorly and graphically that it just does not work
I agree. I think criticizing a story for having a villain do horrible things is silly since, you know, they're the villain and all. The only case I see said criticism making sense is if it's out-of-character, and/or if it seems superfluous. With all that said though, it naturally shouldn't be the writer's fetish. You can only have the same story element/writing quirk come up so many times before you start to question the writer's intentions. There's a reason why the phrase "the writer's barely disguised fetish" exists.
Games like Dreaming Mary have included a similar topic and it was handled in a very well thought out way that wasn’t played as the game developer’s creepy fetish so it really is possible to include heavy subject matter in a video game.
The game's visuals kind of looks like one of those vague scary fever dreams that you'd remember at like 5 or 6 years old, but could never find the source of it until you randomly stumble onto it 12 years later. But during that time you question whether it was real or not.
As someone who once talked to blackout shortly before the massive leak/exposure i can say it fell kinda off to talk to him, it was just weird later that became clear why was that
as a former fan of this game, i was absolutely disgusted when i found out about what their creator had done. i wish i had never known about this game in the first place.
I agree. During my edgy teenage years this was the coolest shit. Then, after aging up, and learning of Blackout's degeneracy, I want to go back and time and stop myself from discovering this mess
I didnt understand a lot of english at that time, so i was kinda shoked when i learn what the r word mean...i just put in a dumpster every fanart that i made when i was in containment in 2020. It was even worse when i knew that garvey was a self insert of the creator.
Horror that used rape, incest, pedophilia should be very VERY careful. It is a balancing act above the Grand Canyon, and you only have one leg and a 30 pound weight around your neck. There is a fine line between making those topics scary and making them… gross. Disgusting. Creepy. And not the way you’d want creepy in a horror game. You should feel paranoid in the horror, knowing at any moment something bad could happen. That the character could lose control of their body to someone else, that you are forced to watch in utter horror, hopefully super immersed so you can experience a _fraction_ of the terror that brings. My rule of thumb for this is “go for paranoia”. With rape or pedophilia, never go for shock value. You should make your audience fully aware of what could happen, or at least set up signs that it could happen for added tension. By going for paranoia, you use the explicit acts to make your audience feel weird in their own skin, making them look over their shoulder and close the closet door. But above all else… be respectful and responsible. Never romanticize rape or pedophilia. Hell, very few games can even get away with romanticizing incest (and they still suffer consequences). Just… make it known that when you use such topics in your horror that you are aware that only true monsters can do these things, that the trauma it causes is utterly and completely horrifying to the very soul, and that you, by no means, ever endorse or support such acts. You clarify that you use them as a vessel for horror, nothing more and nothing less, or that the horror media is based off of real events.
I don't know what is it with random game devs and being creepy to children. Like can't people at least just be NOT weird around children for once? And if they have those urges, they need mental help. I feel bad for like the 12-year-old who talked to Blackout and I just hope that she is doing okay. He is honestly disgusting.

I really don’t know why some people in the fnaf community are so obsessed with the idea of making the Purple Guy a r@pist or child violator. There are other ways you can make a sinister or horrifying villain. Edit: I just remembered that this was made in an era of the fnaf community where the purple guy was heavily sexualized for some reason Remember Vincent?
You're upset that people headcannon Purple Guy, a thrill-killing child murderer, as a rapist? Being degenerate enough to kill a child is one thing, but being a pedo and killing children is too far? Really?
That's just my personal headcanon but I always thought that William being portrayed as a p3do was out of character. I always imagined him to be cold and unfeeling.
Both agree and disagree with this, those acts can make a villain a lot more despicable and a lot less defendable. In the case of FNaF fan games though, due to the nature of it's audience and the general demographic, I much agree that the topic should stay far away from this series or any fan creations. The idea could be used intelligently in an original IP, but it's a hard topic to get right, devs would have to respect everything. Shouldn't touch fnaf or any fan games, but villains with something like this attached to them can be interesting if it has purpose in the story and isn't just being used as a terribly bad shock factor.
Because Purple Guy is a serial killer and that kind of motive (and/or accompanying crime) is very common in serial killers. Depending on the personality you consider him to have, it's a natural extrapolation from the horrible things he already does to children.
It's a shame, such a shame. Everything from the development hell to what the developer did, is just awful. Dormorbaborb, you never fail to be a great punching bag.
I don't think it's wrong to include sensitive subject matter in a FNAF fangame as long as it's clearly intended for mature audiences and is portrayed with due subtlety and respect. Although I understand people's apprehension to that, since FNAF attracts a lot of kids even if you tell them they're not the target audience.
Personally, I've always found that adding things like r**e and p**o implications into horror is not only incredibly disgusting, but also ruins any themes of horror you had. Again, in my opinion horror stems from an inability or even desire to act for whatever reason, whether it be shock, fear or tension. However adding in truly vile behavior to increase the shock factor only rips me out of the shock and horror, and just replaces it with disgust and anger. I'm playing a game meant to scare me, but it should ultimately be harmless. Adding topics like that into your game will almost always result in genuine disgust rather than fear. Moreover, topics of that nature are often done for only two reasons. As a easy way to make your villains seem even more evil, which is disrespectful to anyone unfortunate enough to have gone through something this that, or as a way to "act out" for people with the disgusting proclivities they add to the games, like Blackout had. I actually agree that it's not exactly wrong to include more sensitive content in fnaf, however, certain topics should absolutely be off limits, as they generally add nothing positive to anything, let alone a game that should ultimately be enjoyable.
@@deadlyframe7794 @Deadlyframe 779 I heavily agree with this! There's a right way and a wrong way and Dormitbis def did the wrong fucking way. You can add some things like that if it's more or less open to interpretation or just really subtle. Like, I'm a story person so when a story is ass and has potential, I feel that to my core. Like, make a story about a kid survived William or that universes William, and has nightmares about the experience fnaf 4 style but with a lot more substance and imagery. Make it a fever dream, make it a story about survivor's guilt, PTSD, something other than, 'This happened...now let's never talk about it again...' Maybe my ideas are worse but anything's better than this trash...
@@bluewolf6323 Exactly. The implication, so long as it's not beaten over our heads, could've been okay. Not great, but okay. But being so explicit will only detract from all facets of a game. The story is ruined by having obvious shock factor, the characters are gross and unlikeable and the gameplay will fell worse off because it has to drag everything else. Most games won't ever be able to shake that weight off. Moreover, even in a game specifically for mature audiences, or rather, not kids at least, these topics should still be properly handled or not handled at all.

Now, I don't mind if a game has a pedophilic character. (Pocket Cat - Fear and hunger, for example.) As long as they're potrayed in a negative light, and not seen as cutesy or anything positive. (Unless it's their CHANGE from a pedophile through therapy and becoming someone NOT attracted to kids.) Unless the creator of the game is just using it for their hidden fetish. THAT'S when I have a problem. Edit: Despite Pocket cat being a little goofy and charming in the game, it still shows that there *are* people who fear him, mostly the children in the game, including a literal demon child. It still shows he's untrustworthy, and under that masquerade, a true monster.
You're the first person I see who agrees with me lol. I don't think there's any problem in having a pedo character as the villain (which Garvey clearly is), even because a villain with such vile aspects is really easy to hate. It's a fictitious story after all. But when someone in real life has this kind of behaviour, then we should really worry about
Agree. Also...a funny thing. The original FNAF deals with the topic of child murder very poorly, and yet no one talks about it. stop and see, in comments and videos people talk about Wiliam killing children as if he was just going to the market.
Not FNaF, but it's fan base. Don't get me wrong, I definitely understand what you mean, but the actual game itself doesn't just throw that "child murderer" theme around like a ball in the park, its the fans. They desensitize the topic, but the game itself shows how horrible William's acts were (hence him being the main antagonist) And I, personally, think that the game portrayed it quite well actually, giving that they didn't glorify the murders, and they instead made William's life a living hell, as he deserves. TLDR; It's the fans not the game @@LazyHuman124
I honestly do think a more mature five nights at Freddy story would be interesting: I mean, Afton is a literal child killer and it would be interesting if there was a more adult and serious take on the idea. But this piece of garbage was not the one who should have tackled it :/
@@bgfdhrdsrhsr a game labeled mature with all proper warnings and ratings is nothing compared to unwarned episodes on kids shows (or even advertisements) kids used to watch. If everything is correctly labeled and rated the only harm is parents not being responsible. In the end fnaf is a horror game franchise , it's meant to make people feel scared or at least uncomfortable, if fans want to make it more mature they can. The OG fans are adults now lol. As long as it's not some barely disguised fetish while being made to actively target or promoted to kids (like totally spies, Nickelodeon etc) i don't see the problem personally Edit: isn't the fnaf movie meant to be 18+ ?
In my experience, the best people to create ANYTHING with sensitive topics, are the people who have had to deal with that topic on a personal level. It's something they're familiar with and know how to write it in a way that'll be respectful towards other people who have dealt with a similar experience. It's really horrible to think about, but for most people its a good way to retell their own story, or cope with their own trauma. It's just downright disgusting when someone who fetishizes those experiences creates something that reflects their own feelings towards said experiences. I understand some people who have those kinds of thoughts can genuinely try to better themselves, but if they were then they wouldn't upload something so hurtful to an entire community of people who have endured pain from other people like them.
I'm gonna need this kind of help because I'm trying to create the most unholy shitbag of a villain possible and I want to potray a character who has mixed feelings after the years of manipulation. I want to show respect but also capture a stockholm syndrome esque problem that shows just how strong the actions of abuse are mentally. It's supposed to feed into the overarching theme of intelligence vs wisdom as this character is extremely smart but has horrific judgment and tastes. I do not condone his actions whatsoever, I just want to create a villain that's completely unredeemable that serves as a villain and not a broken hero. I'm also making it subtle and not going into explicit detail and kind of leave the pieces for the characters to figure out and then have things carefully explained as to not be insensitive. The reason I chose that extent is to show the dangers of the s word, how it's a powerful yet dangerous tool, and to show someone who abuses it greatly.
Does that extend to other things too? Aka you shoudnt write about being burned alive if you yourself havent gone throw the trauma of being burned alive?
@@draw2death421 Depends. If they die, there's no trauma to experience afterwards for the character, so just don't make them stupid. If they do survive, talk to people who have survived this, think about how it would affect You
Before getting into any of the dev stuff, I just want to say that I genuinely kind of enjoy the art style because it has a dirty claymation sort of feel to it. This will likely be the only thing I'll enjoy in this video, but if someone who isn't a monster created a game that had this art style I'd genuinely enjoy it.
@@bgfdhrdsrhsr i mean, games don't have to be pretty. I like ugly games, viscerally disturbing games, games that make you feel like you need to take a shower after playing. Dirty claymation, claymation made with clay models that have been left to rot and decay, smeared in the dirt and mud of the world and perfectly imperfect. Ugly is fantastic when it's an intentional choice, and it feels intentional here.
I get your point, but I feel like there's a *lot* of room for improvement, like the rendering It definitely has a concept, but it feels like they focused on dirt more than polish, and focusing too much on one or the other can make a messy final product
It reminds me a bit of the art style of this obscure Japanese game called Garage: Bad Dream Adventure, where nearly everything looks dank and miserable, but this is definitely done with less skill from someone who is still figuring their art out, if the person who did these designs isn’t a creep like Blackout, I wish them good luck on their future endeavors and am interested to see how they develop.
I mean for the most part its one tape and bad graphics that does it, outside factors like creator history doesnt impact inate game value (but it is moreso evidence of a reaccuring pattern if you were to convict Blackout and such) it couldve easily just been badly acted, poorly written, or in poor taste in a vacuum much like alot of Slasher horror icons. In that case itd only be some poorly executed villains to make games like Jolly 1 and 2, Treasure Island and Return to Freddys equally as shit and disgusting since those games werent particularly stable or good looking just like good ole Dormitabis here. I think in this case people hyper fixate on outside factors to determine game value and because of that poor graphic quality and stabilization is unfairly seen as "unforgiveable" where other games in the same genre would otherwise be given slack
This is gonna be a hot take, but I think having disturbing or controversial content in creative works should be allowed and okay. Yeah, it's not for everyone, but then again no form of art is. The problem comes from its depiction in the work. Having the villain character of a story enjoying and doing fucked up shit is fine because they're the villain and we as an audience aren't supposed to like him. When the said fucked up shit is romanticized and fetishized in any form, then it becomes a problem.
it also depends on the audience of the game. fnaf is very popular with children and it's just not appropriate to have more mature topics in a fnaf themed game. it works in other games or movies marketed towards an older audience. horror is meant to scare and disgust, and more sensitive topics are part of that. and yes i do know that no matter what, some kids will probably still see the media intended for an older audience but there's a difference between kids finding a game/movie they werent supposed to due to lack of supervision or care and then a kid playing something that was always advertised as being something they could enjoy
@@strawberrylatta4234 Much to my dismay, what you say about fnaf's primary audience is true. But I don't think that should be true for every fnaf based game. Fnaf at it's core is a horror series, and people should be able to capitalize on that aspect without having to sanitize what they make so that it can be consumed by children. As long as it's clearly marked that it's not meant for children, I believe people should be able to make content based on fnaf, poppy, or whatever that is intended for a more mature audience. A large amount of classic creepy pastas were based around taking something made for children and giving it a mature spin. (squidward's suicide or suicide mouse for example). Creating more mature content based on fnaf is really no different
@@SugaMot true, true. that should be allowed. so people who make the fangames gotta be responsible then and not try to advertise their game as being """""family friendly horror""""". although yeah, the creators dont have control over which youtubers that have a lot of kids following them play it lol. there isnt an easy solution to that unfortunately
i agree, because those kinds of media, when done well and respectfully, can truly become horror because its something so applicable to real life or spreads awareness. i cannot speak for other people, but i know that sometimes disturbing content can bring comfort and empowerment-i can attest to this regarding mental illness. but obviously, this can only be possible when done with AWARENESS, RESPECT, and with the audience in mind.
Not gonna lie, I liked this fangame back when it was released, mainly due to its gameplay and the concept of "you are dead, and you have to deal with some stuff in a purgatory" was somewhat unique. And for me, the game was running pretty much fine, but will agree that it has issues. Now I actually know that there will be a remake/remaster of this fangame, which I hope will make the game even better.
i have played a visual novel with that same concept. it had MSpaint graphics, almost no color, a somewhat below average story and i'd still call it better than Dormitabis
I personally like the atmosphere of this game and the premise of being in purgatory trying to prevent your ghost from being consumed by the animatronics. Other than that, this game has a lot of issues. Gameplay, story, and the background
I remember seeing a little snippet of this game as a kid and thinking it was the scariest fnaf game ever made. Now it just looks kind of weird and goopy.
In this day and age, we're just now starting to realize just how hard it is to separate art from the artist, because more often than not, authors and artists often express parts their vile true colors in their writings/art. J.K. Rowling, John K. of Ren and Stimpy fame, and Blackout are good examples of this.
As a survivor of CSA, I don't find offense in every piece of media that includes it as a theme. However, this game handles it disgustingly terribly, for now obvious reasons. I actively advocate for the tactful inclusion of the horrors of the real world in horror games. I actually would love a game that gives the power back to CSA survivors, too. Maybe a branching narrative where a survivor is given powers, and they can choose to help other children in need to avoid the fate they themselves couldn't. Perhaps even a split ending where the protagonist can choose whether to take revenge, or to deliver justice in a lawful way, with neither choice being seen as more canon or more morally correct as most branching narratives do. I feel like that would be incredible. EDIT: wow, this blew up way more than I expected. I guess I should use this visibility to do some good while I'm here! I agree, as a fellow CSA survivor. When I just heard that it was in the tapes, I wasn't that upset because it is a real topic to be dealt with, and actors and writers have every right to put it into media. It wasn't until it was directly tied to Blackout that it became an issue.

What’s more, trying to implement pedophilia or rape into a story is very hard to justify. It’s uncomfortable as hell to watch or read, and it requires extreme respect and skill from the author to make it work.
@@dirtydan9785 I would tend to agree. I can think of like, 2 reasons to include it. 1 is to explore how something so vile changes a person and the battle that a victim must go through to move past the tragedy, and 2 is to justify nearly any vengeance the victim enacts on the perpetrator and allow empathy with the victim no matter how cruel the punishments they place on the perp. In my opinion, you can replace all other instances with a villain who gets off to murder, rather than being a murder-$$$$ist. You still get the 'gross villain' factor, but without putting unnecessary suffering on another character and undue distress on the audience.
I don't think the concept of tapes describing the insanity of a serial killer being as gross as they are to be an inherently bad design choice or a bad thing in general, the issue comes from it being what the creator themselves were into. Imo it can really help to sell the depths of depravity and madness that people can fall into to have such tapes and logs detailing their motives and insane thoughts as it can help us to hate the villain even more... but they should be done with good voice acting and make it well clear that the tape's content is *bad* and not the actual kinks or fetishes of the creator.
I think the hangup people have about it is "b-b-b-but fnaf is a kids game", other horror games aren't light on these topics and can get even worse, lmao, just because it's popular WITH kids, doesn't mean it's FOR kids. Fr tho including that stuff while being into the topics mentioned in a gross ass way is just not it.
I agree and disagree. As a CSA/Abuse survivor myself- I don't find anything too inherently wrong about a degenerate villain? As long as it's offscreen- And there's an age restriction with content warnings. But you have to remember, FNAF and it's fangames have a majority child audience- and that's why I'm against it, even if it is tasteful and subtle? LIke... "She was my /favorite/" in a creepy voice vs outright describing disgusting thoughts/actions inflicted on a child are super different, lol. And it would definitely be a massive upgrade for this game. But /even then/ the internet is traumatizing enough when you're a kid. Horror or not- we don't want to expose these ideas to children. What if they're a bit older- and it inspires them? Or makes younger person desensitized, and accustomed to the idea. It's dark and uncomfortable, but fr the reality of the situation. So yeah- dark implications in horror for adults? Metal as hell. But because this is for kids... let's keep it at murder. Because even just that (If handled poorly) can be a lot for a kid- and disrespectful to real life victims.

It never works and is always just a fetish the writer is sqeezing in.

She is a very unique character in character development in terms of nowadays game industries don't have the balls to show this type of stuff anymore.

i'd rather have him be a severed Spring-bonnie head at that point.
i dont think its appealing for the majority of those with that headcanon, just quite scary.

Just coming here to say thank you for this! I'm not going to lie, i am writing a story right now, and you accidentally helped me 😅.

I really don’t know why some people in the fnaf community are so obsessed with the idea of making the Purple Guy a r@pist or child violator. There are other ways you can make a sinister or horrifying villain.
Edit: I just remembered that this was made in an era of the fnaf community where the purple guy was heavily sexualized for some reason
Remember Vincent?
The old Springtrap was already great but he kept coming back but now he's a child molester which is way worse

Exactly this
Also don't have it in for shock value to make the story 'interesting'...especially in a 'AND THEN THIS HAPPENED! AND THEN THIS HAPPENED!' fashion...

It's really horrible to think about, but for most people its a good way to retell their own story, or cope with their own trauma. It's just downright disgusting when someone who fetishizes those experiences creates something that reflects their own feelings towards said experiences. I'm also making it subtle and not going into explicit detail and kind of leave the pieces for the characters to figure out and then have things carefully explained as to not be insensitive.
I thought it was awesome
@@strawberrylatta4234 you are totally correct on that. It is definitely up to the creator to inform people of the intended audience

on the tape that had garvey talk about how he r**** a child, the voice actor even tried to go off script for it since even he didn't like how graphic it was
Well considering he was just in highschool, I can understand not having the stomach to say those kinda things. It shouldn't be impossible to talk about subjects like that in games and whatnot, but it has to be done properly. It also definitely just should not touch fnaf fangames or anything similar. An adult targeted horror game would be fine I feel at least, so long as the subject is done well and with respect.
I’m actually physically sick learning about all this.. but thank you for bringing this to our attention. At least I know to avoid it entirely now.
I feel like a massive remake of this game would actually be really really good, I can't wait to see what the remake has in store
Yeah I feel like with the bad reception this game already has because of the pedal stuff it’s kind of hard to make a remake of it. I mean you would have to re-haul the already screwed up story that the creator made
@@theshockerpit7274 in some areas it is intersting, some lack nuance and depth that would make them work.
The sexual Necrophilia feels uncharactic I believe, not out the question since it's more of a concept than a "NONO aoutamatacly makes the story bad, never Ever explore this fucked up shit" and thats limiting stories to morality which never allows one to explore.
Here it was just kind of added in to make the Bad guy look evil, not really doing anything with the fact Grim was a sexual Monster, just he Fucked corpse gross for gross sake sucks.
When the grossness has purpose like anything really it can work, like afton stuffing Child corpses into suits is pretty Fucked but the explains how they haunt the animatroics by being connceted to them.
It explains and adds to the story, it's gross to be unerveing and it works.
The necrophilia has no purpose so its left as just in the "this is messed up phase" making people wrongfully believe having gross shit at all makes the story bad.
@@alexcat6685 you know that could actually work
@@theshockerpit7274 Are you polish?
@@kwabecikuwu9161 I don’t think so
I will say, the janky animations of Springtrap-not-springtrap are kinda unsettling. Like he's too fast, his sprite shakes, and his sprite also contorts in weird ways. It's actually kinda creepy.
This is a 3D game, it uses models, not sprites.
@@algotkristoffersson15 Wow, you read so deep into that just to "erm actually".... Get a life and grow up.
I remember laughing years ago over how cheesy the "THAT HOT GIRL" line was, some part of me isn't surprised the dev would turn out to be such a cringelord. Amazing feat of thorough self-sabotage on this dude's part.
I mean sure, he's cringe but more importantly he's a pedophile and we should call him what he is so we don't forget about the severity of the situation
It's worth mentioning this about all the r-word crap in the game that in one of the articles in the extras menu there's a newspaper clipping describing the death of that 15 year old girl and it literally says the speculation behind her death is r-word related so yeah definitely horrible by ALL means
In this game, Purple Guy is CC's adopted brother, and "Michael Afton" in this game is just a random bully who doesn't has any relatives with CC
The lead developer took "get a little quirky at night" too far
bro thought he was the real life Michael Afton😭
@@Paradox_Incognito ah yes, some pedo is worse than a mad scientist serial killer
I remember two specific things that I did with this. 1 download a Gmod model of the main antagonist and beat the crap out of it. 2. Drew sh1tpost art of other fan game characters beating the crap out of the main antagonist.
Considering what the creator is like, you had the right idea
@@Drax69420 thanks
That's amazing
Beautiful
Great idea
The funny thing is that I am almost positive that older versions of the game are more stable than the latest version on GameJolt. I don't remember the game breaking *nearly* as much as it did for uhyeah (if at all) when playing it myself and watching other people play it a couple of years ago. Goes to show just how much playtesting later versions of the game received lol.
10:58 I hate how the stinger and black screen are used not just for the jumpscares but for when the night ends too. Even worse when the nights almost over, either you think you're dead or you think you beat the night and then the opposite happens
Dormitabis was the game that introduced me to fnaf fan games, I had really good memories of me playing it quite some years ago. Never expected the creator to be such a vile human being. Thanks for bringing awareness about this subject
I really liked this game because I was going through my edgy phase and even after that, I still liked the game designs and was strangely obsessed with the extras menu. I loved watching Dawko's playthrough and eventually played the game myself. I decided to listen to the tapes that the game urged me to find so badly and that's when everything went down hill. I then hit the wiki for lore and that was.. a mistake
@@ghrimaz3 Basically a confirmation of all the weird parts of the lore (Specifically the rape of a minor)
@@f00lish_commentator8and that's a bad thing to you?
@@534sander Well considering that the guy who made this game is into things like necrophilia, rape and children. This game just became and outlet for his weird fantasies just with FNaF attached to it so there's an excuse to include those details. Doesn't help that he voices Garvey, the guy who does that stuff.
Also, legit what kind of question is that?
@@534sandercreator of this game found
@@534sander Yes, the vast majority of people do find the sexual abuse of children to be a horrible thing. If you don't, there's something wrong with you.
