    I collected my newMX 30 on Friday. Really like it. Being retired and driving a little under 5,000 miles in three years the range isn’t an issue.
    Comfort and the driving experience is important and your comments largely reflect my experience. Lovely to drive and easy to park. Yes, the boot isn’t the largest as well as having a lip to lift things over is a loss compared to my previous Toyota Corolla 2.0 Sport Wagon. But no vehicle is perfect. Choosing with your eyes wide open is an absolute necessity if you’re going for an MX30. Get it right and you’ll be well suited is my take.
    Thanks for your very balanced and honest review.

    good analysis! coherent with reality, and with the context in which the mx-30 was created.
    you didn't limit yourself to criticizing the banal, as many do, making a report very focused on what really matters.
    congratulations for your work.
    I'm a little anxious, because I should receive my mx-30 later this month, or at the beginning of August.
    for me, it fits like a glove, because I live on an island and autonomy will not be a problem. having seen this, i think i bought the current car with better price/quality ratio.

    Trading in my 2019 Mazda 3 and waiting for MX 30 to be built and delivered.
    Nice to hear someone not banging on about battery range and price point.
    I would consider that right now, Mazda's latest range - in terms of quality, safety and drive handling has taken a leap forward and the price fits.
    The battery as you say is down to what will be appropriate for the buyers daily usage.
    Like I say....I've not got mine yet, though I've test driven one for 24hrs and watched pretty much every review on RUclips.
    So who know, a few months of ownership I may be dissatisfied, but I doubt it.

    Have had it a month now. Changed from a CX30. Getting about 180km too. Absolutely love it. My commute is a round trip of 3km so i am lucky. Just wish it could charge a bit faster because even with the small battery, charging on the go is quite slow so even an odd trip cross country is probably out of the question.

    Bought this as a 2nd car, first is an ID.3. Yes range is low, but as a 2nd car this is great. On charging we plug in every other day, we don’t wait for battery to deplete, just keep it topped up. We knew this was a city car when buying and prefer it to the VW. Under 100kph we get the full range, on motorways the drop is big, so no long journeys in this car. Yes would love a longer range to use on long journeys, but for us this car will never do more than 200kms in one day.

    This Mazda might be more-suited to Ireland than the British Isles, given it’s limited shorter range. Saw one actually in Staffordshire during the week... it looks quite impressive, but imo it’s just such a shame that it’d clearly be a town/city - and maybe, like MINI e and Honda e, a second car?
    I hope that Mazda are working now on a longer range version, hopefully with pretty much double the range!

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment John. I think EV drivers and early adopters must be the ones who all need bigger batteries and the average driver may suit this battery. I wonder if I should do a survey? With their range extender version, I can't see them doing a bigger battery. Yes, similar market segment as the Honda e and MINI electric.

      @@NevoEVReviewIreland I suppose a REX turns it into a hybrid; could increase take-up, but then it’s not a proper EV is it? Mazda just need to up their game/range on it, as quickly as possible - 100 miles for £30k isn’t really good enough for most of us!

    • @ThePinkus

      The Mazda dealers I met were quite insistent in telling me that the MX-30 should not be the only car in the household. The impression I had is that Mazda wants buyers o be happy about their first EV, and they are trying to make sure that we understand what this car is designed to cover and what is not. Thus You are making an important point. It is not a small city-car, but they had commuting in mind.

  • @barryw9473
    @barryw9473 3 года назад +2

    While the small battery pack may suit some, it compromised the car thanks to the ICE engine bay. Mazda’s fallacious argument about emissions vis a vis the small pack means the battery is too small.

    • @NevoEVReviewIreland
      @NevoEVReviewIreland  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the question Paul. I'm being told yes. "Yes there is a heat pump as it says on the website, so when the batteries are been charged say in a hot country we need to keep them cool, and in cold countries (say -10 or - 20) we will be required to heat them. But a pump circulating fluid around the batteries is the most efficient way of managing a good temperature for the batteries. The engineer that designed the system he called it Thermal Management system."

    I do not trust Mazda anymore! MX30 is my last Mazda ever!
    I share with you my experience with MX30 after 4 months driving it, rather than just a few hours test-drive.
    The car is gorgeous, with an outstanding finishing quality inside-out, and very comfortable and pleasant to drive, but Mazda has presented a lot of wrong figures to make the MX30 more appealing, such as range (260km), which is far from the reality, the real range during the winter on the highway is about 110KM and 140KM off highway and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! God forbid, if you go on a journey over 100km away from home, you need to stop over 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!
    And over 8hrs on an AC (11 KW/h) charger.
    Hope my experience will help you guys to think twice before going for a MX30.

      @@NevoEVReviewIreland Mazda might be able to save the MX30 project, either by adding the range extender ASAP, including on the sold units (recall all MX30), or completely modify the MX30 specs, by adding extra battery, increase from 35KW to 50KW at least, replace DC charger from 50KW/h to 100KW/h and replace the AC charger with a 3phase 11KW/h charger.
      And most importantly add a battery heater, allowing to heat-up the battery while plugged to a charger.
