i just finished watching this series. You have done something special. i have tried to watch other video series of the AT or CDT, but all of the others are about the hiker with the camera. they talk about how difficult the way and worn out they are. one fellow asked the same question, (your trail name, where are you from, why are you hiking), and i couldn't care less. you have introduced us to the lifestyle. you have developed a relationship between us and yourself and the characters that surround you. at the end of the last video i was sad to think i would not see mountain goat, rebel yell, and rigga anymore. you have done a wonderful job documenting the trip, and i look forward to you next adventure.
Wow, thank you very much. It was definitely a life changing experience. I'm glad you enjoyed a taste of what it's like to hike it! I aim to do the PCT in May. We will see :)
I just binged watched this again after a number of years. Congratulations again for this, your first thru-hike. II know it was many years ago, but sorry about your dog Sugar. I enjoyed meeting Rigga and all your Fam. Hope you still keep in touch with them after all these years. :)
After watching a few of your gear videos. I saw your AT series. I binge watched it in 2 days! The AT is a dream of mine. One day the timing will be right. Awesome channel Dixie! I can't wait to check out your other trail videos. 👍
"Purty" needs to become a new trail term. I enjoyed this AT "movie" way more than "A Walk in the Woods" movie. Thanks for sharing your amazing experience with those of us who can only dream of completing a thru-hike.
Incredibly poignant moment as you ascended the final few yards up Katahdin. I would admit I had tears in my eyes as you finished but that would make me sound silly. Super Congratulations on your phenomenal accomplishment. And a huge thank you for allowing us to be a part of your great adventure.
Thank You Dixie, you are a warm and amazing young lady. You are right life is so short.I think I've waited too long to do thisbut I Loved following you on your adventures.
Congratulations Dixie! I watched all of these 44 videos and applaud your sticking to a long and arduous hike for all those miles in all that different weather and terrain. You're an inspiration.
I really enjoyed every one of your videos, including the roadtrip home. Thanks for the entertainment. You have inspired me. Pleasse take good care of yourself.
I just finished watching all 44 videos. I think it took me about 3 weeks. It was like a really intriguing novel...I just couldn't stop watching them! I laughed, smiled, and even cried at times. It looks like you had a wonderful adventure, and I'm hoping one day I can have that same adventure!
Dixie, I must say that I throughly enjoyed your series on the A T. What a feat you accomplished. I am currently watching your PCT and wish you ATB on that journey. Good luck and stay safe. Mike
I enjoyed your trip, what a fabulous memory you will have forever! I want to thank you for taking us along. I'm disabled and would never be able to hike that, but I'd sure love to. Instead I drive all over north American alone. Next year I'm driving to Alaska from Massachusetts. I like to push myself, but I can't hike on uneven ground. So believe me when I tell you how I appreciate the gift you gave me. Now I have an idea of what it's like. I was wondering why you and your family split up? I could tell at first it made you sad, but I saw you get stronger being alone...to me that's a blessing. Well best wishes and God Bless...thanks again Tracy
WAY interested in the PCT attempt !!! Am gearing up for my own SOBO hike in 2017... Watched your whole 2015 series last night. Have great respect for your honesty and positive outlook !!! Thank you SO MUCH !!!
+Homemade Wanderlust PCT SOBO ... Getting gear lined up Osprey AG, etc, n test hikes in area... Literally many dozen hikes to get gear up n running.... Watched all 44 vlogs in one swell foop couple nights ago.. Was pretty well thinking would Hennessy hammock this time, but am thinking that above tree line and desert hiking and for stormy weather, might like Big Agnes so I could sit up to read stuff on iPhone... Thanks again for you hike and for sharing with us newbies... Thanks Dixie !!!
I binged on your thru hike videos the last couple of days. I will be starting my thru hike journey February 23rd 2019 and I am so excited. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing journey with everyone. You have given me a little extra inspiration. ☺️ I can't wait to see what you do next!
I am doing my first thru hike in September. The Colorado Trail. A shorter hike, all I could have time for this year, but I'm so excited. I've been training for it, and watching your videos while I walk on the treadmill has been so inspiring to me. Thank you for sharing this accomplishment in your life with us.❤🌟
My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed every video of your adventure! We are all hoping you post videos of future adventures. Best to you and thank you for sharing your AT experience with us!!
Hi Dixie! Thank you very much for sharing this with us; I really appreciate it. It is kind of sad that it ended because it feels like leaving a family member behind, but hey, thank you for the journey. Thanks again and good luck😀
I just spent my Christmas Eve watching all 44 videos of your 2015 hike. Once I started, I couldn't wait to see what was around the next corner, trail, mountain etc.. Nice job and thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Just finished your entire journey. What an inspiration. I have accomplished many things in my life, anything i have set my mind to. I find it so impressive when people set their mind to something and finish at all cost. Such a long journey and such amazing memories. I love to hike and be outside. I have done many day hikes in the Va and NY area. Watching this sitting here at work makes me re think many life choices. But i know i have a job that i can provide and I am pretty ok with that. I get out when i can but wish i could do more. I very much enjoyed watching.... Not much for making comments like this but you are an inspiration to men and women everywhere. Set a goal and go for it. what do we have to lose... well done, and i look forward to watching more of your videos. I mean it when i say thank you. If you are ever back in the Shenandoah area you have a ride into town and re supply on me! well done...
Spent the weekend watching your whole experience. I'm so glad you made it and shared it with us! I marvel at what you endured and still kept your resolve to keep going. Bravo!
Great Roadtrip Video Dixie! So nice that you enjoy the History! I'm from Rhode Island so I'm hoping you signed that register on top of Jerimoth Hill... I'll be taking a stroll up there soon to check it out! Keep the Videos coming!
Dixie, I just finished watching the last video of your AT hike. I found your channel after there were already 20+ videos posted. Since I binge-watched them I chose not to post a comment until the last one was finished. I just want to say that you did a great job documenting your hike and Whitney did a nice job editing and posting them. Thanks for taking us all along with you!
Boston is my favorite big city in the US, have been in the same graveyard where Ben was buried and also worked in a building where he was born just down the street.
Wow! What an amazing accomplishment. Just binge watched the whole series in just under two days. I laughed and cried right along with you. I only wish you had filmed getting back down from Kathadin. I've wanted to do the same hike since I was in my 30's, but I'm 67 now with bad knees, so many of the parts would be impossible for me these days. I'm also very much a "loner" so not sure how well I'd do with so many folks around in those shelters and hostels either. Once did an inn-to-inn canoe trip in Vermont and drove all around afterwards managing to hike a few miles on some of the AT and it was all uphill! Congrats on doing an awesome job and keeping on even when things were tough. Huzzah!!
Just finished watchin this series in 2019! You're still inspiring new people with this channel! I will be using a lot of your tips whenever I do my next through hike. I have only ever done a 26 mile through hike but I have been dreaming of going on an extensive backpacking trip.

Ok i have a question while you are doing your thru hikes is there a way to set up your tent in the rain without soaking the inside of your tent??
use the rain fly as a tarp. Set up tent under tarp/fly and put onto tent when tent is done.

Stamp duty was put on becasue the colonials refused to pay their war debt from the Indian wars, no taxation with representation is a spin to make it look good.

Too bad Massachusetts has become one of the highest taxed, least free states in the union.
