Dixie, I remember the anticipation waiting for a new video when you did the AT. I remember wondering why I was so excited to watch a video from some strange woman hikin' the AT. Now you're a triple crowner, and one of the biggest hiking channels on RUclips. Crazy what can happen in 5 years. Fly on, little bird.
I guess it’s pretty weird this made me tear up. The start of an epic new way of life for you and the beginning of becoming a massive inspiration to us. Your authenticity makes you so relatable, you come across like an old friend. Thank you for putting it all out there and carrying us along!
Emotional memories for me and I'm not even the one hiking the trail. Your an old friend of mine even though you've never met me. Your a great example just wanted to say thanks.
It has been an honor and pleasure to be able to follow your progress over these last five years, Dixie! You are an inspiration to all of your viewers. Thanks for letting us come along on these milestones in your life. Wish you continued success and adventures! Keep on the Sunny Side, and always on the Sunny Side!
Alright.. you've convinced me i need to do a thru hike at least once in my life.. and start getting ready asap. I've been watching you for a couple months now. I was working 60+ hours weekly before the pandemic. I would of never in my life thought I could do this. Watching you and how you handle all of this and still powering through losing your pet. You're tough as nails and inspirational af.
I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now and I feel blessed to have come upon them and sort of go through this journey with you. I'm 62 years old and getting ready to retire soon and before I get too old I want to do a through hike. You've inspired me
You are one of my inspirations for me backpacking and tackling the AT in the next couple years thanks to your long version on it that I watched earlier this year. My biggest fear is losing my dog while I'm away so seeing that part in your videos hits me so hard everytime. Thanks for all you've done for the backpacking community, it does not go unappreciated
Lovely trip down memory lane. I managed to find you on RUclips just as you started this first trek, and I feel like I stumbled into a special priveledged world. Five years of honest joy and tribulations of the trail. Thank You Jessica, thank you.
Dixie, because of you I'm thru-hiking the A.T in 2021. I discovered you in 2018 when I was at a very low in my life. After watching your documentaries of the AT, PCT, & CDT, I knew for sure that I wanted to follow a similar path (pun intended!). I bought my first pair of trekking poles That year, and thought 'what the hell am I doing?' I now have all of my gear, and am leaving at amicalola state park on March 23rd. Thank you for inspiring me. You've most definitely impacted my life!
This was a fun video to see your AT adventure. Recognized parts of the trail, and it was great to see Perk in there. Your life has changed so much in just. few years. You must smile at all the memories of your first backpacking trip. Take care!
I've sat through every video, it gave me life when I was at home recovering from surgery. When I went back to work gave me life there too. I would block out "work" and return to whichever video I saw last. Beautiful scenery great experiencing it through you. I ,like many, probably needed the escape , even though we couldn't escape in person, we were there with you every step of the way. Thank You.
I was really touched by the Tennessee state line photos. Seeing you there with your grandparents and again some 20+ years later. The scenes with sugar were so sad because I've been through that and I understand. Great short video. Really well done for a 10 minute short.
I have been watching your channel for 6 months but I have never, until this video, realised how long that trail is. 2200 miles!!!! Awesome effort. I put in perspective as hiking the top to bottom of Australia.
Thank you so much for this video. I have complete respect for such an accomplishment. I'm a wimpy old lady who loves beautiful views but can't begin to do what you have done. The AT has always fascinated me and I feel privileged to join you for tidbits of your journey. And hugs for the loss of your pup.
Thank you! I remember watching those videos. I had watched a video of a man interviewing a Vet just home from Afghanistan who was hiking the AT trying to get his life together. I had not heard of the AT so I started looking around. I came across your video of this scared but excited girl just starting on the AT. I watched all the rest of your videos as they came across. I decide I had to do this. My life changed because of another Vet and you. Thank you!
The story of what inspired you as a young girl to do your first hike has a special place in this old grandpa’s heart. I hope that I have introduced my grandkids to there future adventures.
Your AT videos opened up a whole new world for me- hiking and RUclips. The way you filmed just made me (us) want to be apart of it and now I somehow finally started my channel and considering the AT for 2021. Ahhhh!
I hiked Newfound Gap to Charlie’s Bunion a month ago, and I just wanted to keep going to Maine! It was so fun to hike just a tiny portion of the AT. I can’t get enough of the stories. I truly admire and envy all of you that have completed the Trail.
Been watching you for years Dixie - absolutely LOVE this recap. What an ... emotional journey and you captured it well in this video along with some AMAZING scenery. Well done!! All of your videos are GREAT, but I think this may become my favorite.
I'm 51, and I want to do a thru hike thanks to you and a few others on here inspiring me. I'm close to retirement from my job so that would help me make it happen. I've hiked portions of the trail in Virginia (I live in Northern Virginia and work in DC) and Harper's Ferry. I love the portions I've done, but I want more. Its funny, because years ago when I was an Army infantryman, I hated "road marches" but always completed them of course. Now in the past few years, I've rediscovered it thru taking up hiking. I guess back then it was a different environment, different purpose, and you didn't have the time to really enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. I want more.......
Absolutely breathtaking! I just completed the Vermont Long trail. AT is next. Thanks to all your inspiring and educational videos... I didn’t die! 😳 Boy, it was tough, wet, muddy, dangerous, bears 😳, coyotes, hail, sleet, snow, mice .... best time of my life 😊
Thanks for letting us tag along. Charlies Bunion was the first hike my wife and I did when we were first married, thanks for the reminder of that place.
I have been following your videos since day one. Beginning my own AT thru-hike this March. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Lots of very excellent information.
It was nice to relive some of your hike with you. I miss seeing your live action videos. I’m ready to get back out on a trail myself. I think I might have to pitch a tent on my boat dock and sleep outside for a night or two.
Jessica, I have watched the AT vid series and I’m glad you included Sugar Belle as part of this. I’m not surprised. That was a very important and personal part of your journey.
Just what I needed. Thank you for all you’ve shared of yourself and what you’ve learned along the way. I don’t know that I would have taken the steps needed to start backpacking without your guidance. I have gained so much confidence!
Katahdin with snow! That is still one of my favorite mountains. I have done the 100 Wilderness along with Katahdin twice. I loved talking to the thru hikers.
Nicely done Video!! Thank you so much! Sorry to hear about Sugar. We had to put down our Black Lab two years ago. One of the hardest things we have ever done! God Bless and hike on!
Awesome summary. It was pretty cool seeing you at Mt Greylock,Washington and Katadyn as I've climbed those! Of course I've probably only been on about 25 miles of that trail in my 58 years. Maybe some day I will get a thru hike of some short trail.
Well done Dixie this year i walked the lake district in UK no where near as arduous as your walk i'm sorry about your dog but the uk was under lockdown a couple of days after my walk started it will be exiting to see the rest of your videos...
Dixie you are amazing. The start of a long career of thru hiking for you. Started following you on the pct and CDT, haven't left yet. When I run into women telling me they want to start hiking, I give them your link.
I remember like it was yesterday.....watching as you made that awesome journey. It's great how you inspired so many as well as discovered your new path in life. Thanks for sharing!!
It was a blast watching you do the AT the first time, wondering if you were going to make it. This was a wonderful condensing of that year. Thank you. So many memories brought back with this short video. The video released onion-cutting ninjas around me.
One hell of an accomplishment Dixie. You are a great woman and wish there were more like you. Great job and thanks for all the hard work with the video editing.
The accomplishment is unreal, and to think you've tripled is awe inspiring. I hope one day to be able to achieve at least a section through hike. You are so very inspiring, and you have such a great spirit about you. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. 👍👍🚶♂️🥾
I just finished watching your full AT through hike video and it felt like I was right there with you, great video! It made me laugh, cry, and inspired me to get out on some trails! Thanks for sharing 😁
Beautiful video. Felt like I was there with you. I cried with you and felt the joy at the end. What an awesome accomplishment! I admire you. God bless you.
Hey Dixie it’s Y’all here! Thanks for making this video and doing you! This was a beautiful video. And you should be extremely proud at that accomplishment! It is SUPER cool! Thank you.
You've inspired me to attempt the AT. I hadn't even heard of the Appalation Trail before this year, but I've always wanted to do a major hike. I'd watched your "DIXIE TO MAINE" documentary on the first of January and I will now be attempting my thru hike in February at Amicalola Falls.
Good Lord, this is one hell of an accomplishment......I want to do this. You inspire me, Dixie!! I'm gonna do it! I think I can find the time to do it in sections though. I've already hiked the Mason Dixon line to Raven Rock. So, that's a start! :D
Hi, just wanted to say you are super awesome! I love hiking but started a little late in life, lol I’m 50 years old now and I hike any chance I get. My longest hike was 5 miles but I’d love to go on longer hikes. I’m in pretty good shape to do it. I have some nice hikes on my RUclips channel that I just started a little over a year ago. Have you ever considered doing guided hikes? Maybe taking a group of less experienced people hiking with you? That would be super awesome. My dream thru hike is “Camino de Santiago” hopefully some day. 🥰 stay safe and thanks for all your awesome videos... much love from Grandma on the go in California 💓
What's also interesting is to see how she reduced gear since then. Dixie's backpack was so large it came up behind her head some days when fully loaded. Could be 30-40 lbs easily. Compare it to the one she has now. What's amazing is that even then she was smiling nearly all the way with that thing. A lot of girls on RUclips backpacking for the first time are panting heavily and look tired.
Hang in there. You have had a lot going on in your life lately. Keep your chin up and give us a peep at that beautiful smile, and we're good. Blessings and love ❤️ George from Texas.
Where are all those "Pretties" we miss so much? Was really hoping for the "West Virginia" song in there. Thank you for all those years bringing nature and its joys into our homes and hearts
Dixie, I remember the anticipation waiting for a new video when you did the AT. I remember wondering why I was so excited to watch a video from some strange woman hikin' the AT. I teared up over you losing your dog, I've lost some great ones over the years. I miss them all.
Yeah, I did too. Made me remember Kaia.
Your a great example just wanted to say thanks.
awww...how sweet is this.🥰
A lovely message! We need more messages like this!

I watched the 70 min movie 3 times and the 44 episodes twice. IM sure I can do 10 more minutes :)
I never get tired of your first hike. Have watched the full hike more than once. Great editing on this as always. It’s like visiting an old friend.
Lovely trip down memory lane.
I managed to find you on RUclips just as you started this first trek, and I feel like I stumbled into a special priveledged world.

hangin’ in there like a hair in a biscuit!!
Right, I love that.. The picture I got.. LOL
hangin in there like a cat on a screen door!
I thought that was "Hare in a biscuit" when I first heard this. Very confusing :)
@@louispippie Hmm. Sounds like a good trail meal!!
That made me cry! Such great memories ...and they aren't even mine!! 😄 Awoooo! The AT is the best!
Perk!!! Miss seeing him on your channel
You have been such an inspiration to me and I’m sure thousands of other people..I’ve watched every one of your video’s ..Thanks!
Thank you!
Always a joy to see these highlights of Dixie 1.0! Well done Aaron!

Excellent! Now I can refer others to this 10-ish minute synopsis of what it's like. Well done, Dixie.

Thanks for the look back at your first thru hike. You have come a long way since then.
This just made me emotional. You just provided so much missing happiness and motivation to me. I wanna do this one day
Everytime that I watch a video about a thru hiker making to the top and putting there hands on that wooden sign. Well it puts tears into my eyes
Back where it all started. Thanks for the walk down memory lane
Your journeys are just astonishing from beginning to end your a powerful influence for other future thru hikers
Nicely done Video!! Thank you so much! Sorry to hear about Sugar. We had to put down our Black Lab two years ago. One of the hardest things we have ever done! God Bless and hike on!

Dixie you are amazing. The start of a long career of thru hiking for you. Started following you on the pct and CDT, haven't left yet.
When I run into women telling me they want to start hiking, I give them your link.
Katahdin is so beautiful with all the snow on it. I think you picked a good time to finish.
what a great vid to see! We all need ot get out into the green tunnel. Seeing this is a way we can virtually
I loved the clip of the sign where you went as a child and were introduced to the AT. Very cool.
Fond memories of the hike that started it all! Who was that young lady narrating her hike?😂🤣😂 “Feels like I’ve known you for a million years!”👏👏🙏😷✌️
I remember like it was yesterday.....watching as you made that awesome journey. It's great how you inspired so many as well as discovered your new path in life. Thanks for sharing!!

So sorry about your pup...... very strong of you to finish the hike!❤️
It’s so crazy how far you’ve come!!
With the pandemic I haven't even driven 2,000 miles this year. Thanks for posting the recap!
We will all be able to get out again soon!
It’s really cool to see the community surrounding this hike 😀
Hi, just wanted to say you are super awesome! I love hiking but started a little late in life, lol I’m 50 years old now and I hike any chance I get. WoW- what a great recap! I felt so happy for you at the end. AND then here you are today still hiking away! You really did hind your hiking legs.

This was truly epic Dixie, an amazing journey you shared with us and we all feel your passion. Inspirational !!

Thank you. It’s been a rough one, but I’ll be out on the trail soon ♥️
Where are all those "Pretties" we miss so much? Was really hoping for the "West Virginia" song in there. Thank you for all those years bringing nature and its joys into our homes and hearts
Thanks for putting a smile on my face today!!
Awesome video! Congratulations on completing the AT. What an achievement!
Will never get tired of watching you hike the AT.
The accomplishments you have made are absolutely awesome and inspiring. Such a great review of a staple in your life. Keep it up Dixie 🙂
Incredible! Congrats on everything.
Thanks, Aaron and Dixie.
