- Parts of Arizona have been hit with devastating weather damage, with the city of Flagstaff having to deal with severe flash flooding caused by the runoff from the Museum Burn scar.
That was an incredibly effective sand bagging job! I can't believe it was holding all that water back
As long as the water keeps moving. If where ever the water is going backs up then it will push the sand bags over.
Impressive, I have never seen that before.
Yes. I love Flagstaff beautiful place; I pray for everyone!
We’ve had sandbags up for the last 3-4 years

Yes that is the insidious thought creeping from the NAU. Flagstaff city council is in cahoots with NAU, or the other way around. As a we locals like to joke and call Flagstaff, NAU. A couple years ago nau was so proud propagating about all the Chinese students they had in attendance. Thousands.
F nau and all these liberal institutions.
Flagstaff, oh mean NAU used to be small and only a Teachers and Forestry college. Now they've employed a liberal curriculum, which only contributes to creating confusion to the youth.
Let me ask a stupid question: Did ANY of this rain ever hit Lake Mead or the Colorado River.
Infrastructure needs an update
Wtf. we have a drought in lake mead in Nevada, but floods in flagstaff Arizona? What’s going on here?
Lake mead is mainly filled by snow runoff from the rocky mountains in Colorado. It doesn’t really fill much from rain.
Like a bathtub, Mead has a drain, and the same people who drain it will now tell the farmers that they will not get the water needed to grow food. Problem, reaction, solution.
@Ally Underbelly Now that's an answer! Thank you.
@Ally Underbelly i’m not an idiot :(
Victor Boucher BINGO! They are staging all of the predicted water shortage.
I was in Flagstaff in 2017. There was lots of new development going on. People from the Valley and California moving and building there in droves. I've always said you can't stop Mother Nature from claiming what's Her's.
Pretty sure its a burn scar
It is burn scar. This is in Greenlaw and Upper Greenlaw these houses are some of the orginal.
That's exactly what's happening. Lots of buildings going up but do nothing about infrastructure. Those water drainages probably have not been checked for over 10 years or more, they cannot sustain the power of the water and water has no escape. They have flash flooding warning sign posted every where so government is aware of the danger but do nothing to avoid disasters. It's easier for them to blame it on climate changes..
@@destiny5776 it’s literally because of the Museum Fire burn scar.

Ok so let me get this straight, people complain about the drought and then cry when it finally rains. Nature is trying to fix itself, just move out of the way! Sure wish we could get some flooding here, this entire state would welcome it! At least with a flood, wildlife isn't suffering! Floods aren't disasters in AZ, they are literally RECOVERIES! It's Monsoon Season.
Rain is great. Normal monsoons are great. Living in the drainage from a poorly managed fire scar with inadequate flood mitigation is another thing entirely
Thank you! It’s because these morons LIVE for fear porn and whatever the media tells them to fear. Arizona is freaking soaked and booming with vegetation right now. It’s like a second spring, and this one is even brighter. Wild flowers everywhere. Trees and forests healing. More abundant wildlife roaming around communities because there’s water to drink everywhere. Yeah, stuff like flooding sucks, but the state is literally healing right now and it’s also been unusually cooler collectively compared to years ago. Still the media focuses on fear porn.

@@wut3358 Do you mean tell Raytheon to stop?
Such as? House are built, have been there a long time. Forest fires happen, sometimes at man’s hand but often its Mother Nature taking care of her housekeeping. We had a fire in flagstaff a couple years ago and the flooding in this area of town (which is right,-RIGHT IN the foothills of mt elden) is due to the scar of that fire. Water won’t soak into the ground as quickly where there is a burn scar, it is devoid of vegetation to hold the earth down when rainfall comes. In the late summer an afternoon storm with lightning and rain isn’t an unusual occurrence in flagstaff.
I feel awful for these folks! A lot of places in town are effected by the flooding, particularly in that neighborhood, just because off where the fire was, it’s not something they could have known when they bought their homes!

Was there oversight to the building code at adequate drainage, and is the city plan for impoundment, diversion equal to the next ...larger storm?
Low lying stream as overflow has been a constant to S. Western states for a very long time. I would guess the home buyers may have not truly executed research to flood domain. And, I am sorry for that finding, at these conditions.
