    I was lucky enough to do this course in 2022 out of Regina, SK. I have never been through such a scary, rewarding, and emotional time in my entire life. The bond with the people that you do this course with is so cool because you come from all across Canada trying to accomplish the same goal. The stories and experiences that you experience at such a young age is wild.

      This is about AIR CADETS. It's for kids and young adults, from 13 to 19. NOT the air force. That is different. I think that all you need for the regular forces (apart from the basic qualifications) is a Permanent Residence. They DO hire foreign pilots with experience straight off though.

    and this is exactly how you end up with badly trained, incompetent pilots, leading to inevitable incidents and serious accidents. Licensing someone as a pilot with only 7 short weeks of 'training' is irresponsible, absurdly dangerous and darwin award level stupid

      Those kids have had YEARS of theoretical courses in their units, and lots of familiarization flights, and some of them are already glider pilots. Only the very best get offered the scholarships. I went to a college where they give a 3 year pro pilot course. MOST of the students were Air Cadets. They all had their PRIVATE pilot license...
      PS: When you don't have a clue about what you are saying, you should NOT write stupid rants like yours.

    • @ethansehviationadventures
      @ethansehviationadventures 6 месяцев назад

      I graduated from this course in 2022... cadet pilots have to meet the same standards, hour requirements, and complete the same testing as every other private pilot in Canada.

    • @FD3SA
      @FD3SA 3 дня назад

      Going to be honest here folks, this is closer to the truth than most realize. Most flight training units in my area don't take cadets as students, because they receive their PPLs at a much lower standard than what regular TC examiners expect. Therefore, schools don't want to take the risk of a PPL renting their plane to solo and killing themselves and their passengers (it has happened too many times).
      As great as these cadet programs are, 7 weeks is far too short a time to learn to operate an aircraft safely. Experienced pilots routinely make mistakes that kill them even with hundreds of hours. Putting children in these planes in a crash course is irresponsible, especially when it looks like the class is selected for "diversity" rather than merit.
      But alas, every person makes his/her decision in life. I leave this post as a warning to parents. Flying is deadly serious, and the cadets program is not an ideal place to learn unless your child is extremely gifted.
