I listened to the Magic Flute last year, and was mystified at their use of Wesley's hymn tune! Thanks again. Surely one of Wesley's greatest for desperate souls to find the words to pray!
I think it's the other way round. It would have been sung to a different tune originally, but someone figured that it would fit well with Mozart's tune and adapted it accordingly. Doesn't detract from you pertinent comment about seekers.
