My friend was cello student at thw New School of Music next to my school. She was so starstruck. We got his autograph. Did the whole fan thing. Such fun memory..💕😏👍👏
@ Wow! I remember immersing myself in the music of Bach way back when a public radio station did what they called a Bach orgy. They played the entire Bach catalog continuously over the course of a week. I recorded much of it on cassette tape. It was a revelation. The first album on vinyl I purchased was Bach’s Greatest Hits by Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia orchestra. It remains a favorite. That led me inevitably to YoYo Ma and the Suites for Solo Cello. Not to be missed.
Anyone who believes art and culture are not important is ignoring the dedication and effort poured into restoring Notre Dame. This project is a testament to human passion, determination, and love.
I always remember they were going through freezing cooling periods, not a lot to eat apart from peas and beans (we had practically nothing of the Mediterranean diet back then). Wars, invasions, loss of knowledge from societal collapse, and still they built that _without mathematics_ just the "eye" of the craftsman. Insane achievement and faith in the future.
I think President Macron’s impositions upon the artists who restored the interior of Notre Dame are ridiculous. The great cathedral has been Disney-fied. Having spent hundreds of hours in the pre-fire Gothic masterpiece, I am appalled by this unfortunate result. However, gratitude and respect to the first responders and the 2000 artisans responsible for her rescue and restoration. And the cathedral’s bees and their hives survived all of it!
@@dolinaj1 What do you mean by "Disneyfied"? It seems to me like many of the art pieces have been made more colorful, but I think this was also just an attempt to restore them to their former glory.

Honestly the best, most relaxed and reassured performance of the concert, given by the most seasoned and experienced performer. I feel Yo Yo is communicating with the entire space including the people within it, enjoying himself and his instrument as it rings through each nook of the nave. Bravo!! 😊
