My favorite genere of fantasy is victorian horror. Vampires, undead towns, hauntings. I was absolutely not expecting it in this game but it was definitely my favorite part.
i absolutely loved the house of healing, it gave me such strong silent hill tease (especially with the sisters). i always find myself coming back to that area, for the music and just the atmosphere of it all. it truly is one of my most favorite little missions i’ve done so far, i keep thinking about the scene i got with Malus Thorm and the sisters, and goodness what a scene that was lol. (also now that i saw someone mention it, it also does have a soulsborne vibe to it as well! definitely bloodborne, wowee that makes it even better!)
This whole area has heavy Soulsborne vibes and it kinda works because of how much of an utter departure it is from every other area in the game. Even the Underdark wasn't this spooky, because while THAT is a 'natural' spooky. The spooky of an underground world with civilizations and life. Everything about the Shadow Cursed Lands feels very, VERY wrong.
And if you want to get an idea of what the Shadowfell proper (i.e. the areas outside Domains of Dread) are like, imagine if the entire world was taken over by the shadow curse and then make an entire plane out of it. That's because the Shadowfell is a reflection of the material plane just like the Feywild but instead of being adjacent to the positive energy plane, it's adjacent to the negative energy plane, thus making the resulting reflection fetid, necrotic, withered, and often evil.
@@genghiskhan6809if you think that’s a frightening thought; imagine what you might feel, one dark and misty night, when you find yourself standing before a lonesome gate, headless statues standing at its flank. Welcome to Barovia, the real nightmare is about to begin.
@@WylRobins0n Jokes on you my friend, I’m already in Barovia (me and my friends are currently playing Curse of Strahd and now we all have ‘Rovia Flashbacks).
I'm not gonna lie, the Shadowlands are indeed the goth type of spooky and fucked up, but... It's almost exactly what I expected them to be, at least in terms of some themes and concepts As an entirely new DnD player though, I didn't know what to expect from the Underdark and quite honestly, I got jumpscared there so many times lmao
Thats what I said. The weird enemies with elongated arms, legs, and body dysmorphia. Sense of death and dread around every corner. This is when the game became dark souls for me.
I loved this entire area, story theme and music so much bc it gave me that victorian gothic vibe I love so much without feeling out of place. Never encountered that in a fantasy game before. What a masterpiece.
Strongly agree. I enjoy Baldur's Gate 3 the most when it gets out of the usual purely medieval setting and goes kind of Baroque, Victorian or even "steampunk".
I was looking for the boss theme for the house of healing. I fucking LOVE twisted violin melodies. This is up there with the Frostpunk OST. Thanks for posting this my good man.
same. you should check out the Neoclassical albums by Brand X Music if you don't know them already! They're full of twisted violins an cellos. Especially the second is a stroke of genius imo.
@@Mindoir The sheer shock and horror on your character's face is fantastic She's just like "Oh shit, this is waaaaay more fucked up than I thought it would be"

Freaking love the house of healing fight and mostly for the music. The could a whole game around the Shadow cursed area. My first time through was so damn creepy ans scary. Just the right amount of encounters to keep fear with out being to much to much. Loved it. Love this music. 😢
Thank you SO much for uploading this, these are the tracks I wanted to find the most and it was killing me that I couldn't find them anywhere!! Hands down the best battle music, those violins are working it
*spoilers* The way the music dramatically swells as the nurses stab Malus to death on the operating table right in front of you is INCREDIBLE. It's so fucked up in a uniquely satisfying way.
A bhaalspawn, a tiefling, a half-elf and a drow elf walk into Silent Hill.
There is no such thing as drow elf, just drow.

Have you got any game recommendations that fit your description? I LOVE all of those. Specifically the death & vampire edginess.

I'd recommend taking a look at Vermintide 2.
Bloodborne has that as well, but yes I agree I love BG3 vibes also loads of Renaissance vibes and Gothic Victorian in places.

Got to be one of the best boss themes. I really love the combat in this game as well

The Shadowland in Honour Mode left me touched, with a Scar. I'm glad I can normally watch the Sunlight on Baldurs Gate.
these mixes are genius, identifying the common tunes across so many different vibes is so cohesive and wonderful and INSTANT SUB!

I played this encounter last night and parts of this music track gave me Penny Dreadful theme music vibes. Which was appropriate given the setting.
Ah, I finally find that one battle theme that plays during undead enemy encounters. I love that theme, thank you!
Ooo the combat music is awesome here. I actually never heard it. The silver tongue and all.
I beat shit out of that Thorm, but even now, 40 hours later, this theme still fills me with some sort of dread and unease.
perfect for your Ravelonft adventures

Thanks a lot! I love this music

part house of healing (surgeon) , part house of hope (Raphael), surgeon + house of hope = surgery of a hope.

Holy shit the violins 👌🔥
How did you extract those untitled songs from the game? Did you record them or took them from the game files?

Please do shadowlands battle mix! The songs in that map rock!
Big Ravenloft vibes here.
