I find it funny in act one you can ask Astarian “what do you think we’ll find at Moonrise towers” he basically says “who knows? Mindflayers? Drow? Death?”
I am the smile of the worm-cleansed skull. I am the regrets of those who remain, and the restlessness of those who are gone. I am the haunt of mausoleums, the god of graves and age, of dust and dusk. I am Myrkul, and you have slain my Chosen. But it is no matter, for I am Death. And I am not the end-I am a beginning.
Myrkul is as close to literally bro as deity can get. Recruits the man by bringing his daughter back to life. Said daughter isn't even hurt by any amount after said Chosen dies (the big man keeps his part of bargain even if the recipient of the bargain is puddle of blood). He even brings his Chosen's dog back as a free bonus! And, when said Chosen is killed, not only he isn't disrespected and tormented, but Myrkul himself assumes his avatar in attempt to avenge Chosen's death via excreting down your neck. Meanwhile, Bhaal is awful, manipulative, lying, brutal cnt who broken Orin in every conceivable way since her birth, and (depends on your dialogue, if you uncover this to Orin) literally twists and turns her inside out as she screams, to form a Ravager. And Bane isn't much better. In cut dialogue, it is revealed that Bane is going to forever torment Gortash's soul the moment he fails him, and is such a wh*re of a deity that suggest you become his next Chosen instead.
Thats the thing I’d say with the Gods of death in both mythology and fantasy. They are always associated with being evil/counterparts of biblical Satan, while it’s just that they have a job to do. While Bane is tyrannical and cruel, Bhaal is completely off the rails, brutal, manipulative and vengeful, Myrkul may be trying to reach for as much power as he can, but he’s a keeper of the dead. A deal is a deal, a soul for a soul. Myrkul is also the only of The Dead Three that will not torment their Chosen after they are beaten. While Bane will torment Gortash, Orin is first erased from her own mind and turned against her own will, then dissolves, and I dont want to even Imagine what happens to her soul once Bhaal lays his hands on it.

My favorite of the Chosen. The intense musical buildup when riding the elevator down to where the boss fight takes place gives me chills every time I hear it. The music, the introduction cutscene and the fight itself all culminate into a fantastic climax for Act 2. Absolutely love it
@@RazielTheUnborn The thing that gets me. Ketheric had 3 fights to him (or 2, with the second having 2 parts to it), and the last one, he becomes the Avatar of Myrkul, a big spectacle is had, the god himself even speaks to us. It's all very cool. Orin has... 1 fight. She becomes the Slayer, an avatar of Bhaal, and she does have quite a few interactions throughout Baldur's Gate where she pretends to be people to psych you out. Sarevok makes for a great cameo. Bhaal can talk as well, but this fight seems very much a Dark Urge fight. It's less interesting if you are literally anyone else. Ghortash is... disapointing. 1 fight, and very little interaction beyond trying to get you to kill Orin for him. I mean, there is the small interaction when you go to the Iron Throne to free the Gondians, but that it. Bane is completely silent unless you try to use Speak with Dead on Gortash. He didn't have a cool avatar form like the others. He just had extra help. Ghortash should have gotten an avatar form. If you go to the Forgotten Realms wiki and look up Bane it will say this: "When confronted with a potential battle, Bane would possess an individual and force their body to take on a twisted and monstrous form with leathery black skin and powerful claws that could rend flesh and metal alike." Now, Ghortash does TECHNICALLY have an Avatar of Bane form, but all that happens is he gets a bit bigger and summons shades of himself that help him in battle... Doesn't exactly scream "Chosen" to me.
@@alucardthespy5539 Sounds less of an Avatar form and more like Enlarge Concentrating spell with Major illusion over Minor Illusion. The Chosen is definitely a case of they seem to have more time in the oven for one over the others. Seems to be the criticism in general for Act 3.
