I'm gonna be straight with y'all . . . They could have centered the whole game around Ketheric Thorm and I'd have been happy with it. It's not just that Act III is weaker than the first two acts . . . is that the build up and payoff that is Ketheric Thorm is a really, ***REALLY*** tough act to follow.
That is actually a great idea. Just make ending of the act 2 as your story climax and finale. Leave Ketheric's character, motives and interactions similar. But rewrite everything else leading to act 2 and remove Absolute from the story. You could even make him seem like a good person at first. Hide from your player fact that he is the main antagonist of your story. Just show he is just a grieving father. But then at some point plot twist!!! He was the villain all along. The sound effect for his “Touch of Death” move made my jaw drop. The sound building up in pitch only to momentarily disappear and suddenly get smacked with that bass filled echo sounds like the kind of maneuver only a god can pull off. Also it cut Karlachs health in half. I just stacked some black powder barrels and wall of fired his ass

I was expecting all of the Chosen to have a similarly epic and daunting phase two transition into some form of avatar. Act three did not deliver on that front.
I should amend this by saying that Orin's monstrous form is quite a challenging fight. The build up to it is nowhere near as good though, in my opinion.

Then suddenly this guy comes, no spells on gale, my party kinda beaten, and an aura with says "no healing".... i was 100% sure i will need to load the fight and heal myself before killing general, but somehow i just smahes this guy to dead
I wish they'd started this boss with minions like they did with Ketheric- action economy obliterates Myrkul if you've prepped at all for the fight. Going in with a full party, 2 summoned elementals, AND Nightsong meant that my fight was over before he could even do anything. (Insult to injury was Lae'zel disarming him on her turn, I didn't think it'd work I just wanted the higher damage).
Myrkul : "I am the smile of the worm-cleansed skull. I am the regrets of those who remain, and the restlessness of those who are gone. I am the haunt of mausoleums, the god of graves and age, of dust and dusk. I am Myrkul, Lord of Bones, and you have slain my Chosen. But it is no matter, for I am Death. And I am not the end-I am a beginning." TAV : "That's an impressive curriculum... but you forgot to be the master of the Runepowder barrel !" Myrkul : "... Oh shit !"
Funny I saved that runepowder barrel from the grim forge. Lit that thing in it's face after making it vulnerable to all damage. The lord of bones met Oppenheimer that day
this was EXACTLY what happened to me... convinced him to back off and he jumped in the pit. when i tell you my stomach DROPPED when myrkul showed up. i thought i fucked up big time
I was like oh shit when the boss showed up, but I was kinda disappointed to have killed him in 2 turns. Dimension doored close to the angel lady to help her. Then used my prehastened paladin with giant juice and protection buffs to run up to keep smashing smite on it for 40-50 dmg. Took it down to 60hp after my paladin’s turn. Gale’s wall of fire. Myrkul takes a 30dmg swing to my paladin, and then it was easily finished off by the paladin once it was my turn again.
On my very first run, when I finally beat Ketheric and this started to play, my butt cheeks just snapped together from realization that this is the second phase, and I was already pretty beat up.😂
Oh wow, he looks terrifying, and like he could almost KO a 2 HP from full Karlak in 1 hit. It would sure be a shame if an enterprising Dragonborn Stunning Striked him every single turn so he couldn't do a damn thing until the turn before he dies (I ran out of Ki points)
Basically nobody talks about the fact that, for some reason, voice lines of Myrkul are so quiet it's basically incomprehensible without subtitles, really weird..

Myrkul just shows up to clean up like it's nothing, he get's his ass handed to him but hey, he goes down with style.
get the chills everytime i see this, and i have seen it plenty plenty
This version of Death just tied for my favorite alongside the 2017 Castlevania anime's version.
the funniest part is that he's not even death anymore, his job got taken by kelemvor.
Ew, they turned death into an edgy 14 year old that thinks swears are cool, I would have preferred him to talk like that only as Varney, and when the facade drops he reveals his true form
@@noone12748 He didn’t even swear that excessively, and you’re out of your mind if you think literal death wouldn’t swear.
@@flamenami Sorry but no, it took me out of it, especially since his voice actor is the talented Malcom McDowell, someone who could do a proper intimidating old death performance similar to the other games, a missed opportunity to have a cool contrast between a foul mouthed hoodlum that was Death all along and just playing a character
This scene for me bugged out for some reason, and they were all teleported to a far away land with five mindflayers standing behind us.
Same happened to me - Use Vulkan instead of DX11, fixes almost all of the graphical and game loading related issues.
@@AzurebrandVidsi tried, but the game crashes after a few minutes ;_;
Same. It was actually a perfect transition from the mostly finished part of the game to the completely unfinished final act.
This fight is so easy to cheese because of his immobility lol. Pop up a wall of fire around his back, a cloud of daggers or some other stuff like hunger of hadar, and attack him from range while somebody is swinging at him up close.
Such a cool scene dripping with atmosphere and tension.
Bruh this fight with tactician plus and better bosses mods make this feel like the real final boss istg
You have officially crossed the border of Fuckaroundville and are now entering Find Out City
Almsot everyone was at 10-25HP when katheric died. My reaction was literally Shadowhearts.
yep.. i say the same than Astarion.. oh dear....
the one problem i have with this intro, it COMPLETELY steals the other chosen’s thunder, like how could gortash ever compare to THIS
My backpack with 10 smoke powder barrels and a rune powder barrel + a couple orthon bombs: Haha funny words silly skelly boi!
I heard a rumor that Myrkul used to be an adventurer, but reached max level and became a Deity
Sorta, I would say this is the extremely simplified version of events lol
Oh. Oh dear.
lol f#*ing I love his voice actor 😂
Gortash and Orin felt so underwhelming in comparison. I really wished the had polished up Act 3 a bit more.
The buildup to moonrise towers is amazing.
I remember the first time i got here, I was streaming it to some of my friends and when I almost talked him down and skipped phase 1 they all started freaking out because none of them knew you could do that granted I didn't either, "bro you skipped half the fight" shit was crazy
Never thought I'd see a Baldur's Gate 3, let alone a good sequel. Then the mfs at Larion do THIS
I am so glad the hacks at beam dog did not get to make this game after the abomination that was siege of dragonspear for baldur's gate enhanced edition, even if they did make a good baldur's gate 3 that would still be a bad thing because we would have not gotten this we just would not know it.
The introduction is just like in a souls game
the moust walkover fight ever... when he emerged i was like "oh fuck - i just wasted all my remaining spell slots on gale for "making general die faster, gtfo i wanna be over with this" + didnt healed my party (since i just wanted to finish the fight and then go to camp).
BG 3 is really movie quality. The reason why I took 150h to play is simply because the rich and awesome voice acting.
This is the best boss intro ever.
It’s such a curve ball because you aren’t expecting to find a God in the mid game. 😱
yoooo.... that's Fane face! or at least you could customise for his skull to be like that
0:31 ,,nooooo, my loot..."
Then he never resurfaced died and u never got the crystal that makes u rule the world.. unless u werent evil.. but i was.
And I am not the end-I am a beginning."
TAV : "That's an impressive curriculum... but you forgot to be the master of the Runepowder barrel !"
Myrkul : "... Oh shit !"
Jaheira really said "Hello, Death. I like your hat."
"Hello Death. I like your hat." -Jaheira
Hail Myrkul!
and here i am again.. epic scene
Roll for initiative.
Funny I saved that runepowder barrel from the grim forge. Lit that thing in it's face after making it vulnerable to all damage. The lord of bones met Oppenheimer that day
Shame that after this I got stuck in the camp and no way in hell will I start all over.
Choir starts chanting: “oh no”
“I am the smile of the worn cleansed skull”: “OH NO”
Smited his ass to smithereens using the Blood of Lathandar with my Paladin… and a couple of hold monster scrolls I found..
All that talk in the intro, and the only thing i remember is withers monologue.
this was EXACTLY what happened to me... convinced him to back off and he jumped in the pit. when i tell you my stomach DROPPED when myrkul showed up. i thought i fucked up big time
I was like oh shit when the boss showed up, but I was kinda disappointed to have killed him in 2 turns.
Astarion: "Oh dear 💅🏻"
On my very first run, when I finally beat Ketheric and this started to play, my butt cheeks just snapped together from realization that this is the second phase, and I was already pretty beat up.😂
I loved Astarions response 😂
I wish I could loot Myrkul after the fight. I'd steal his hat for Jaheira.
This went the hardest.
Well people, we figured it out - Myrkul is Darkwing Duck, ffs xD
For some reason, I found kethrics avatar form more powerful then the rest
And then he died in 1 turn on Tactician... :)
I feel like the fantasy of fighting the gods or at least their ''avatar'' should be more of a thing
This video would have been perfect if the music wasnt louder than the voice of Myrkul.
dam you cant even hear the boss in the video
this introduction reminds me of Sovereign from ME1
Crapped my pants here fr
this is fking epic man...
And then I used fog on him and he was helpless..
First big 'oh shit' moment
Basically nobody talks about the fact that, for some reason, voice lines of Myrkul are so quiet it's basically incomprehensible without subtitles, really weird..
Still salty WotC brought him back after his death in Mask of the Betrayer. Makes me feel like my Spirit-Eater went through all that for nothing!
