It isn't crazy. Music does that. There's nothing to do with playing the game or not. Good emotional music. You're starting to relate with emotions from your past, people, places, events. Its magic! :)

This phenomenon is just a staple of mechanically rich RPG's in general, even table top DnD where your characters physical appearance is definitely not what most players spend their time focusing on. It's because there are a lot of options to consider, many of which can be detrimental to your experience in the game if you don't pay attention.

It's not that I spent that long on one single character, it's that I was trying out a bunch of looks across every race/sex/class trying to nail down the character I wanted to play as. Like, how do you know you want to play as a gnome ranger lady with a full beard until you've made her, and also a moody orc bard lady, and a beefy dragonborn himbo, and an upbeat drow sorcerer, etc. etc
@Jaceareeno I'll answer that- I didn't spend 3 hours making ONE character, I spent an hour making 15 characters, all from various walks of life and with completely different vibes, then I spent 20 minutes trying to decide which one I want as my protagonist. Character creation can be the most fun part of the game for a lot of people, so they like to take their time and really play around with it.
@@Thy_Boss Easy, play for the first time, play around with different combinations. "Hmm, I'll be an Elf..." then you find these really cool eye colours and wanna make a Tiefling instead... I didn't take much more than an hour I think, but I did try to hurry, despite looking around, playing with the hair, looking what it's like in the lighting... Taking a moment to stare at Tav before choosing to change things... admiring how cute they look, then deciding you wanna go intimidating instead. It's okay to be fast, but some creative folk enjoy playing with all the possibilities and you don't get to judge them. Some like combat, some like story, some care about practical gear, some prefer looking cute. BG3, D&D, ... no matter. It's the beauty of the game: You can play it in so many different ways. Me, I'd love tp just admire the beauty of my woodelven Paladin in his armor, while my friend keeps urging me to please put on the ugly helmet for the bonus. We all have different preferences.

First time I booted up this game, I was floored by how amazing the music was. Then in character customization when the singing started, I literally stopped creating my character just to listen to the singing. 15/10

Didn't play the game but my boyfriend would spend hours in the character creator and I heard this music and ambience while working on my homework. Fell in love with it instantly and find myself using this to study and relax.
This also works for newborns less than a week old lol. She’s violently sucking her pacifier at 12:41 am and is showing no intention of falling asleep before sun up but at least we both agree with the music I’m playing lol

The soundtrack, writing and voice acting in this game is so god damn phenomenal. Even just in act 1 wandering around and talking to characters you get the feeling that this game is special.

It’s the tension of immediately recognizing something is wrong so the song can resolve itself. Here, it’s haunting and hints at, well you said it best, the chaos of the journey you’re about to go on. But also conflict that your character is ready to confront quite yet. The uncertainty of who your character will become.

When you get to know a game better, it doesn't quite hit how did it at first. That's not a bad thing, just how things are. The best nostalgia is when you can briefly remember those old feelings. This music perfectly does it, i feel like i'm starting my first adventure all over again every time i listen to it.
One of the best flavors is the music instruments changing depending on which starting instrument you pick for your bard, this is just peak sound design
BG3 was the first remarkable game for me after maybe over a decade of games I didn't really care about. I lost that immersion and investment into the story I had as a youngling when I played FF7, Resi, Gothic, Morrowind, etc. When I played the first hours of BG3 all those good feelings came back. So for me personally it's the best game that I played for a very long time.

I debated getting Baldurs Gate 3 because I bought Starfield. But I decided to buy it anyway in case Starfield was a flop. Absolute W judgement call on my part and I love listening to the music with surround sound headphones. It’s absolutely magical, you literally feel like you’re walking on clouds. This game deserved game of the year and game of next year as well.
