Another interesting fact: Guy Bannister, one of Hoover's original hires for the FBI, not only ran the FBI Chicago office, but was a good friend of Lee Harvey Oswald's in New Orleans and Dallas, TX. Bannister was one of the agents present when Dillinger got shot.
One of the reasons Dillinger went to the movies that night, where he got killed, was because the theatre had air conditioning, a new thing at the time, and that Chicago summer night was hot as blazes.

A coin left on a headstone or at the grave site is meant as a message to the deceased soldier’s family that someone else has visited the grave to pay respect.
Leaving a penny at the grave means simply that you visited.
Leaving a nickel indicates that you and the deceased trained at boot camp together.
Leaving a dime means you served together in some capacity.
Leaving a quarter at the grave, you are telling the family that you were with the soldier when they were killed.

Usually you go off into a room or maybe out in the woods to kill themselves people don't do it at the top of the staircase

I put that quarter on Mr. Purvis's grave on 12-25-2021, the reason is called (Paying your respect to the deceased). My grandfather grew up with Mr. Purvis in Timmonsville, SC. and were good friends for life. Mr. Purvis father's family plot is located in Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville, SC. I was in law-enforcement for 25 years and Mr. Purvis was one of my mentors!

I can not believe it!! I live in Darlington which is next to Florence AND we are distant relatives of Melvin Purvis. It’s my Mothers maiden name actually so not too distance. I don’t know anything more about the man though. The only thing better than this is if I could have ran into you myself bc I have too many family members out there to count. Safe travels my friend. PS it’s pronounced “per” vis Thanks for the great videos

@@kaceypurvis1043hey how cool. I’m so jealous of my cousins w the same lastname. So sorry I didn’t see this sooner. I sure hope you get this. Let’s see. My mother’s Mom (so my grandmother) died young in a car accident at 36yo. Her name was Nancy Naomi Purvis. Her oldest daughter is Peggy Purvis (my mom)… She had 2 sisters Hazel and Gracie and a brother Wesley Purvis. He had 4 kids who I’m really close to they took care of me when my parents were working so they’re like siblings to me really. Their names are Gary Claudette Paulette and Thomas Purvis. Does any of those names ring a bell? I’ll check back to see if you get this 🤞 Happy New Year

    Another great video, Lamont.
But, Melvin Purvis as the second most famous FBI agent of all time? Maybe second of the gangster era of the 20s and 30s, but second of all time?
IMHO, that title belongs to John “Mindhunter” Douglas.
