If you haven't read Six of Crows, cannot recommend enough. Heist/adventure vibes. I absolutely devoured it in less than two days. One of my all-time faves
Man.. I picked it up 3 years ago and DNF’d at 100 pages, not because I didn’t like it but because something tragic happened in my life and I stopped reading for like a year I wanna try and pick it up again but I don’t wanna start over ugh idk
@@humblebookreader you only have to read shadow and bone beforehand if you care about spoilers, but honestly if you just want a great story with a diverse cast, you can absolutely pick up SOC and be fine without reading SAB 😊

If you like the meandering side quests without there being much point in them, then go for it. This one was just straight vibes but I needed more out of it myself.
Dark matter by Blake crouch reads like a movie and is a fun sci fi mystery thriller that’s easy to follow. I’m listening on audible and the narration is phenomenal
The Poppy War Trilogy for sure. Also, The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee. Both absolutely epic series that are impossible to put down with characters whose lives you get so wrapped up in.
This is how you lose the time war is incredible. Don’t get discouraged if you are confused in the beginning, the end has the most payoff I’ve ever seen in a book. Made me sob.
Yes, came to the comments to mention this and that it's not necessarily romance like you'd think of it and the prose makes it take longer to read, or maybe that was just my experience of it. So it took me the same amount of time to read as a book twice as long. I did not regret this time though as it was one of my favorites of 2022.
Agreed! After reading this, it became one of my favorite books of all time. Some get confused in the beginning, but it unravels itself page by page. The prose is beautiful and is 110% worth the payoff. So much uncovered in a short book, and also made me uncontrollably ugly cry.
warbreaker by brandy sandy 😭 so adventurous, heart warming, and un-put-downable. I’ve never claimed to be a fantasy girly, but this was a buddy read and i’m in LOVE. it’s a big boy, but super accessible and fun.
I am the messenger by Marcus Zuzak is my favorite book of all time! It could be considered about an adventure with tasks the main character has to achieve! The premise of the book is literally about caring about people it's so good.
I definitely suggest The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin! I was absolutely enthralled by the series, not to mention her writing is great and for a fantasy series it’s also great for “literature people” because there’s a ton to unpack and great themes. But you can also just get lost in the world and enjoy the books at the same time. She also won the Hugo Award for each of the three books in the trilogy (which I believe has never been done before).
I read 'Luster' and 'Cleopatra and Frankenstein' and both are wonderful pieces of literature. The latter made me write down quotes because they were mind-blowing in its true sense.
Noelle I love and admire how you know your reading taste so well and your channel is always a breath of fresh air with books I have never seen before! I recently read The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd and this book was unputdownable! It involves maps, a little bit of a fantasy element, adventure, family (real family and found family), museums, and the cover is stunning! Enjoy your spring reads!! 💜
I started reading Luster because of your video and OMG IT IS SO GOOD!! I’m just over halfway through and the writing is insane. So, so good!!! Thank you for recommending! I’ve never heard of it otherwise.
I’ve seen some others say Six of Crows and that’s immediately what I thought of when you said adventure!!! It’s technically YA (fantasy) but I think people of many ages would enjoy it. The world feels so extremely vivid, I genuinely could not put it down
I am obsessed with The Expanse series by James S A Corey!! The storyline is so gripping and fast paced I blew through the first one and am having the same experience with the second! I wouldnt normally think of myself as hugely into scifi but this one is truly fantastic
DAUGHTER OF THE MOON GODDESS! A fantastical duology that’s a great mix of magic, adventure, family dynamics, and romance!! Fav new books of the year for sure
omg Noelle I know it's a long book but THE WAY OF KINGS!!! adventure + intrigue + betrayal + complex characters that you'll love and care about. It's soooo worth it you should give it a try!!
Book that I couldn’t put down recently was Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. It was so beautiful and the familial relationships explored were so well done. It was definitely an adventure!
Absolutely! Same experience here, and also the audiobook is amazing too. Great exploration of womanhood, SIBLING RELATIONSHIPS, good intentions vs road to hell, wilderness outside vs inside humans, and just the sacrifices we make to protect those we love and the truth we believe in. Very visceral storytelling and world descriptions. Also, Scottish Highlands 😍
My adventurous recommendation would be Eat Pray Love if you’ve never read it. It’s such a fantastic book about societal expectations of women and I know you enjoy messy relationships/marriage in trouble and this has several relationships involved with self discovery and a lot of adventure. I always recommend this backlist title and it reads almost like fiction though it’s a memoir
when i was in middle school my absolute favorite book was the tail of emily windsnap. it’s about a girl who discovers that she’s a mermaid and follows her struggling with keeping her secret as a member of the school swim team and simultaneously exploring life under the sea !! if you ever had an inkling to read ya i absolutely recommend :))
As you said any genre, I hope you won't mind me suggesting some Middle Grade, it's always helped me out of slumps as they are quick, fun and adventurous reads! The Train to Impossible Places by P.G. Bell is super cute, about a girl named Suzy who is very smart, but her logical brain can't seem to figure out how a set of train tracks appeared in her front room, she jumps onto the train to find out and that starts off a whole adventure! Also, Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend, about Morrigan who thinks she's horribly unlucky until a man named Jupiter North shows up on her eleventh birthday and saves her life by taking her to a completely different world called Nevermoor! I really enjoyed both of these books and I hope they help! :)
I loved Ariadne! It’s a Greek mythology retelling of Theseus & the Minotaur but from Ariadne’s perspective (the Minotaur’s sister who helped Theseus escape the labyrinth!) it’s full of adventure with amazing settings, making it a fun way to learn Greek mythology. Highly recommended!
The adventures of Amina ElSirafi by S.A. Chakraborty. The book came out last month, and it's sooo good I literally finished it in a day, and the audiobook is so good and immersive, so I recommend you read it while listening to the audiobook, best experience ever.
So glad you’re back!! As for recommendations, it’s not necessarily an adventure book, but I feel like you would really enjoy “Maame” by Jessica George! It’s about a young writer trying to navigate newfound independence and coming-of-age amongst a family tragedy - I couldn’t put it down. You might also like “Little Rabbit” by Alyssa Songsiridej, which feels very in-tune with some of the themes in “Cleopatra and Frankenstein” (and which I also devoured)💐❤ P.S.: “Nightcrawling” and “Luster” are incredible!
cursed bunny is definitely SOMETHING. wow that book, those stories, the way it begins even- i read it a while ago and i haven’t stopped thinking about it, incredible storytelling and writing

Having a truly bummer morning (state of the US + sick family) and seeing you had a new video really brightened my day! Thanks a million! Maybe not the greatest adventure recommendation because I wouldn't exactly call it a page turner but you might try Killing Commendatore by Haruki Murakami. I don't know if I've seen you read much Murakami and this one is my favorite. My other recommendations would be to try out mysteries. I really enjoy all of Anthony Horowitz's books and they are all pretty light. I like the Magpie Murders the best. For more psychological mystery, In the Woods by Tana French is gripping and haunting, as is almost all of her Dublin detectives series. The Likeness and Broken Harbor were also very haunting. I also just finished Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, which was very gripping but I will admit that I hated it due to a plot twist that happens 3/4s in but hey it was very readable and fast, even for a slow reader like me. Thanks again for being a bright spot in my crummy day!
i just want to say that i have been reading muuuch muccch more and i have been watching your vids to motivate me so thank u noelle. ur good energy is contagious
Heartless by Marissa Meyer!! It’s a story about how the Queen of Hearts became evil. I read it in highschool and I am still thinking about the ending 5 years later 😊
I feel like you might like Hyperion! It's a sci fi story about 7 individuals who are on a pilgrimage to a dangerous planet, and each chapter is a different character's backstory as to why they're on this voyage, kind of like short story vibes. It's SO GOOD
This is absolutely a must read. Hyperion built hard sci-fi as we know it now. It also might appeal to Noelle because it reads like the Canterbury Tales.
man, i love watching your videos but you make me so excited the way you talk about books that halfway through i just pause your video and start reading :')
Our share of night is totally worth the time 👌🏽 such an amazing story, it completely blew my mind and couldn't put it down 😍 fun fact: the novel was finished at 666 pages (at least in Spanish since the author is Argentinian) but since she believes in the simbolism of the number she kept writing until she reached page 667 😂
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig! It’s heavy, but it’s great. Post suicide, a girl is given the chance to live all of the lives she ever could have. So so so good, had me cheering her on and crying for her.
I don't know if you've already read it but The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch had me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it! The vibe is basically Pirates of the Caribbean meets Ocean's Eleven, with heists and adventure and a super thrilling plot. And the first book works as a standalone. Love your videos! 😊
Cleopatra & Frankenstein was a very good read. I have a feeling you'll love it. Sometimes it feels like its trying too much but its written very beautifully and you can forgive those few times and sweep them under the carpet
Dark Matter had such a hold on me - similar to how I felt reading Project Hail Mary(besides the science parts). If you loved Everything Everywhere All at Once, it’s a must read!
If you like cozy mysteries I HIGHLY recommend the Veronica speedwell series by Deanna Reybourn! It’s one of my favorite series! Every book is a different mystery and adventure. The physical books are amazing but the audio books are chefs kiss❤️
read Mrs. Benson's Beetle!!! could not recommend this enough. its all about friendship and adventure set in new caldonia!!!! one of my favorites and SO MOVING. might look a little kid-oriented but TRUST ME it's not and it's amazing.
My rec is Nettle & Bone by T Kingfisher! It's short, they're saving the MC's sister and the kingdom, and the humor is dark. Also, there's a cute found family. What's not to love?
I'm so excited for you to read Our share of night!!!! You are gonna fly through it, I promise! It's dark but soooo sad, I was holding back tears in the train reading it
For high-action fun - Blake Crouch is my go-to as his work is always super fast-paced. I liked Recursion best but Upgrade (his latest release) was also great. He's known for the sci-fi genre but I feel like he's very approachable and there are elements of romance and philosophy within his work too. It definitely has similar vibes of adventure and intrigue that I would compare to Project Hail Mary.
"Into the Distance" by Hernan Diaz!! Read it last year, was a 10/10 and think about probably more than any other book I've ever read! A historical kinda western featuring a young man crossing the US in search of his brother! Such a lovely main character and phenomenal atmosphere!!
I couldn't help myself, here's a million more: The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen Kindred by Octavia Butler Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia The Grace Year by Kim Liggett How Much of These Hills is Gold by Pam Zhang The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri Lute by Jennifer Marie Thorne Bad Cree by Jessica Johns any of the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon (but they're a commitment for sure!!) Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart The Forever Sea by Joshua Johnson The Violence by Delilah Dawson
i just finished cleopatra and frankenstein and it is very different from conversations with friends. there is so much going on, and it just spirals and spirals. so good
Cannot recommend the Mistborn trilogy enough for adventure and saving the world. I cried so hard in the last book because it was so impactful. The characters are phenomenal and it will keep you hooked. They’re large epic fantasy and I read them all in a month and a half 😅
My favorite mystery series is the Amelia Peabody Mysteries. It has rich family dynamics, the historical context and egyptological references are very approachable, so you don’t need to have any prior knowledge to enjoy it. The first book is called “Crocodile on the Sandbank” and it’s a delight. I listen to the whole series through at least once a year, but make sure if you get the audiobook that it’s the versions narrated by Barbara Rosenblat, her voice makes the story live for me.
I’m not sure if this book fits what you’re looking for but Braised Pork by An Yu, it’s one of my all time favorites and she does go on an odyssey of sorts and it got me out of a reading slump ! 🫶🏼 loved this video as always !! 🥰
I totally agree with the Starless Sea as a recommendation! One of my all time favorite books!! I also have to recommend the An Ember in the Ashes series by Sabaa Tahir. I absolutely love all the adventure and moral dilemmas.😊 Edit: I also love This Is How You Lose The Time War❤
If you're willing to read manga and you're looking for adventure, One Piece by Eiichiro Oda is what you want. The length may be intimidating at first, but by the time you're caught up, you'll wish it was longer. The characters will make you laugh and cry, and desire for them to achieve their goals. It's a fun lighthearted pirate adventure that's as much about the friends you meet as it is about the adventure. P.S. Love the channel, keep making people smile 😊❤
Adventure book recommendation: Recursion by Blake Crouch (and also Dark Matter if you enjoy Recursion). It was SO addicting and I was totally gripped. I didn’t necessarily love the male characters by the story is so compelling.
I just read Outlawed by Anna North and it was such an amazing adventurous romp!!! 10/10 would highly recommend. It focuses on a group of outlaw women (primarily) who ride horses and thieve other towns and people.
If you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend She Who Became the Sun, it has Mulan vibes but a lot darker and more nuanced. On the other hand, there’s also the Mirror Visitor series, it’s a french series with a Howl’s Moving Castle type of fantasy and I LOVED it (plus the covers are gorgeous!)
My recommendation is Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick. It is an adult fantasy that will be a trilogy, the third and final book comes out in August this year I believe. Basic premise is there is a con artist named Ren who is trying to pull this elaborate con on a noble family to make a better life for herself and her sister Tess. There is political intrigue, there’s elaborate plot, there’s some romance, and a character like Zorro?! It’s amazing and the second book is even more fast paced and amazing! Couldn’t put them down. It takes a little bit to understand how the Venetian inspired world works but trust me, be patient because the payoff is worth it!! Ultimate favorite book of last year! Hope you get out of your slump!
yes!!! our share of night (nuestra parte de noche) is extraordinary. One of my favourites novels, I'm so glad that all of mariana's work has been translated. Love from argentina♥ aguante nuestra literatura 🧉
I’m reading Lord of the Rings after loving the movies for so long. Definitely an adventure. And I know you’ll probably hate to read this but I recently got sucked into ACOTAR. And holy hell. All of my pretentiousness just exited my body. The series had me in shambles. I stayed up until 4am to read one of the books. I felt like I did when I read twilight as a teenager. I’d also like to mention… I don’t do fantasy or series. Lol. For what it’s worth I usually stick to historical fiction and autobiographies. So my life has been upended. 😂
Something Wilder - my favorite Christina Lauren book! It’s full of adventure and romance. Treasure hunting, maps, challenges, a little mystery, and it’s a page turner! 💕 The Serpent & The Wings of Night - Hunger Games style challenges with Vampires! 🔥
OH MY GOD YESSSS CURSED BUNNY ONE OF MY FAVORITESSS. I love this book soo much made my friends read it too and they loved it as well. Definitely a 10/10.
Hi! Have you read The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina? It has all the things I think you like: family drama and trauma, strong women, magical realism, a mystery, and lots of adventures... I loved this book and couldn't put it down ❤
Becky Chambers The Waferers Series is so good!! I def lost sleep over it, it’s got space adventure but what I love most is the characters are all alien and the most human I’ve ever read. So deeply human, and also her writing challenges the way we think about gender and gender identities. Just amazing.
I'm so happy that you're going to read Our Share of Night!!! It became one of my favorite books since I read it a couple of years ago and I was hoping that you would read it. It itself is an amazing adventure, I'm sure you're going to love it. I was scared by the length too but it's so amazing that it goes by really fast.

I can't wait for you to read This is How you Lose the Time War! It's one of my favorite books I've ever read. It's short, but packs a punch. I read it and was shook. Our share of night is totally worth the time 👌🏽 such an amazing story, it completely blew my mind and couldn't put it down 😍 fun fact: the novel was finished at 666 pages (at least in Spanish since the author is Argentinian) but since she believes in the simbolism of the number she kept writing until she reached page 667 😂
every time you post it’s such a lovely surprise 🤍 the hair is popping as alwaysb
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig! It’s heavy, but it’s great. Post suicide, a girl is given the chance to live all of the lives she ever could have. So so so good, had me cheering her on and crying for her.
I love this one
Really miss your reading vlogs ☺ Would love to see a reading vlog for any of these books you're planning to read this spring 🥰Hair is gorgeous btw!
the rosie project is a very light and heart warming adventurous book! highly recommended💘
If you loved Everything Everywhere All at Once, it’s a must read!
you have sold me -- absolutely going to read this one!
@@NoelleGallagher Girl it’s mind blowing!!!!
NightCrawling was amazing. Also she was so young when she wrote this book, the author. She was 17 I believe when she started it.
I’ve been dying to read this
Such a strong sense of place in this novel. It's bleak but so well done
Such a good book.
I gave Luster 5 stars but it was definitely a mood read for me. I was in the space of no plot just vibes and this book thrived for me👏🏻✨
When you said adventure, my first thought was Six of Crows! It has such a fun heist-based plot!
The Name of the Wind, my favorite of all time tied with Ready Player One. I think you’ll love it!
Dark Matter was also good!
"Into the Distance" by Hernan Diaz!! Read it last year, was a 10/10 and think about probably more than any other book I've ever read! A historical kinda western featuring a young man crossing the US in search of his brother! Such a lovely main character and phenomenal atmosphere!!
I couldn't help myself, here's a million more:
The Merciful Crow by Margaret Owen
Kindred by Octavia Butler
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
How Much of These Hills is Gold by Pam Zhang
The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri
Lute by Jennifer Marie Thorne
Bad Cree by Jessica Johns
any of the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon (but they're a commitment for sure!!)
Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson
A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik
The Bone Shard Daughter by Andrea Stewart
The Forever Sea by Joshua Johnson
The Violence by Delilah Dawson
i just finished cleopatra and frankenstein and it is very different from conversations with friends. there is so much going on, and it just spirals and spirals. so good
Cannot recommend the Mistborn trilogy enough for adventure and saving the world. I cried so hard in the last book because it was so impactful. The characters are phenomenal and it will keep you hooked. They’re large epic fantasy and I read them all in a month and a half 😅
I get the biggest hit of happiness when I see a new video from you
My favorite mystery series is the Amelia Peabody Mysteries.
I absolutely love all the adventure and moral dilemmas.😊
Edit: I also love This Is How You Lose The Time War❤
Yes for Dark Matter!!
I love the throne of glass series which sort of turns into an adventure book. A real life adventure would be wild by cheryl strayed!
I just read Outlawed by Anna North and it was such an amazing adventurous romp!!! 10/10 would highly recommend. It focuses on a group of outlaw women (primarily) who ride horses and thieve other towns and people.
"a quick synop-ee"!! also the walls behind you are identical to my living room omg
Just After the Wave was FANTASTIC. Super gripping, adventure story with twists and fantastic imagery 😊
chlorine sounds SO GOOD! i swam from ages 4 to 16 and miss it so much, i'm definetly gonna give it a try! (btw missed you)
My recommendation is Mask of Mirrors by M.A.
Dark matter and recursion by Blake crouch are two of my all time favorite books! Such good sci-do thrillers that were unputdownable for me
yes!!! our share of night (nuestra parte de noche) is extraordinary. One of my favourites novels, I'm so glad that all of mariana's work has been translated. Love from argentina♥ aguante nuestra literatura 🧉
For a sort of adventure/beautiful story I’d reccomend in memoriam. It was so beautifully written and devastating in such a compelling way🤍
the queen is backkkk 💝💝💝
I’m reading Lord of the Rings after loving the movies for so long. Definitely an adventure. And I know you’ll probably hate to read this but I recently got sucked into ACOTAR. And holy hell. All of my pretentiousness just exited my body. The series had me in shambles. I stayed up until 4am to read one of the books. I felt like I did when I read twilight as a teenager.
I’d also like to mention… I don’t do fantasy or series. Lol. For what it’s worth I usually stick to historical fiction and autobiographies. So my life has been upended. 😂
dunno if i missed it in previous vids but the moon tattoo looks so good on you!!
I recommend The Road! It’s an easy read but the adventure these two main characters face…it’s fascinating and heart wrenching
Miss Benson’s Beetle is a lovely cozy adventure book. Highly recommend!
City of Brass, if you haven’t read it, had a chokehold on my heart!! Adventure, mystery, magic, drama, politics, a hint of romance, just everything!!
The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Life of Pi by Yann Martel, The Princess Bride by William Goldman The Beach by Alex Garland
Something Wilder - my favorite Christina Lauren book! It’s full of adventure and romance. Treasure hunting, maps, challenges, a little mystery, and it’s a page turner! 💕
The Serpent & The Wings of Night - Hunger Games style challenges with Vampires! 🔥
Leigh bardugo’s books are PERFECT if you’re looking for adventure! I would highly recommend the six of crows duology and ninth house (and it’s sequel)
I loved loved loved The Memoirs of Stockholm Sven! I sobbed when the book ended because I loved these characters struggling to survive in Svalbard.
OH MY GOD YESSSS CURSED BUNNY ONE OF MY FAVORITESSS. I love this book soo much made my friends read it too and they loved it as well. Definitely a 10/10.
Noelle, if you like reading about family/sibling dynamics and also about swimming, you have to read Black Cake. One of my faves from 2022!
Fingers crossed for spring reading vlogs! 🤞🏻🤞🏻💜🌻🦋✨
Does it have a lot of horror themes throughout? I'm mostly excited about this aspect! 🤩
@@ralucaprepelita8428 Yes, it does! It's impressive how many themes Mariana is able to integrate in this story. Also something that I really love about it are the other themes not horror related. It's simply an amazing book!
@@mariesshelf ahhh you have me in the palm of your hand! Ordering it right away, thank you xx
adventure books!!
Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
The Glass Sentence by S.E. Grove
The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold
The Hunger Games!!! I’m rereading it at the moment and I haven’t felt this excited to read in a long time :)
I can't wait for you to read This is How you Lose the Time War! It's one of my favorite books I've ever read. It's short, but packs a punch. I read it and was shook. Some say the beginning is confusing, but I didn't mind it and the pay off is worth it. It's a beautiful but intricate romance in a sci-fi world.
