an INCREDIBLE idea!
Omg yaaass!!
Return of our Book Goddess🙆🏻♀️🧡
Congrats Noelle!!! You DESERVE the break! Take care of yourself and again, congratulations! YOU DID IT!!!
“We laugh instead of addressing the pain”😆 i adore you so much Noelle. Congratulations on graduating.
When I got the notification for this I stopped everything! HUGE congratulations on graduating, Noelle!! I loved watching you on your grad school journey and how much you accomplished! I loved your top 10 list with such a wide range of genres. Some of my favorite books this year were A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Crying in H Mart, I’m Glad My Mom Died, and Last Summer on State Street. Can’t wait to see what you end up reading in the new year!
omg i’ve been following your grad school journey since 2020 and i’m so proud!! take care of yourself noelle❤️
Congratulations on graduating!! That is absolutely amazing & we’re all so proud of you!! You kicked ass this year! Now take all the time you need to rest & enjoy your accomplishments!! It’s been such a joy to watch your journey through grad school & to see how far you’ve come. I found your channel back in February of 2020 & it’s been a place of comfort these past few years. I hope all is well for you and your loved ones. Take a much deserved & much needed long break and just enjoy life. We will be here when you come back.
I didn’t have a great reading year, but Book Lovers was definitely the best read this year.
this is such a sweet comment tysm 😭 also yes book lovers!!!
Girl oh my GOD I’ve been following your grad school journey from the beginning and SO HAPPY THAT YOU GRADUATED!! CONGRATULATIONS!! As of my 2023, I got dumped in september and relapsed into anorexia, lost my father and started anorexia treatment a week ago… I am DEFINITELY excited for 2023…
My favourite book of the year HANDS DOWN everything i never told you…
Hope 2023 is a better year for you
Wishing you all the best for this new year ❤
i'm so sorry to hear that 2022 was filled with so much pain 💔 wishing you all the warmth and healing this year
@@NoelleGallagher thank you angel ♥ your videos always help me feel better so thank you for sharing your moments with us, we appreciate it! Hope you'll have a wonderful year with a gorgeous wedding and your mental health on ease! ♥
@@lyd7136 thank you so much ♥
We appreciate your effort and hard work, Noelle. Happy Holidays.
I love how honest you are about reading. Even though it is generally a fun and relaxing activity, it can sometimes be stressful, even for book lovers. Don't worry about not wanting to read after finishing your Master's. I got a double degree in Francophone and Hispanic Literature, so I completely understand how you may need a break even though you still have that desire to read. Take your moment and enjoy the relaxation that comes from stepping back for a bit. It will make reading that much more enjoyable in the future when you choose to pick up a book for fun again.
this is so sweet and you got a DOUBLE DEGREE?! in awe of you and hope you have the most wonderful end of the year 🤍
that is impressive - congrats on your degree! I am really interested in Hispanic Literature - where are some colleges that specialize in it, if you know. Thank you.
@@michelepastele5347 Thanks. :) Unfortunately, I am only familiar with one university that offers such a program: University of British Columbia (it is located it Vancouver, BC, Canada). It is an immersion program, so students learn to speak, read and write in the Spanish language, while all literature and lectures are also in Spanish. If you already speak the language, then you can take a placement exam to skip the grammar classes and go straight to the lit classes.
Thanks so much for responding Brandon.
Happy new year!
Congrats Noelle!! We all knew you could do it 🥳❤️
congrats on graduating! 🎉 hope it feels like your hard work has paid off and you are able to get some well-deserved rest!!
2022 was rough for me because I lost my mom, but I’m determined to start living again in 2023. I’m currently reading Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo & Song of Achilles, which are getting really good. I also want to start these violent delights. I want to read a book a week but I want to be like you & get my masters.
CONGRATS!!!!🎉🎉🎉
i am so, so sorry for your loss 🤍 wishing you the warmest 2023
Sorry for you loss ❤️ I lost my mom too this year.
So sorry to hear this. No words can describe this type of loss. My books hv gotten me through some difficult times. Hope they will be of comfort to you as well
so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2019, and finally few human again. Reading has really helped.
Omg a Noelle video for Christmas is the best gift so far, I'm so happy to have you back! Literally was whining to my girlfriend earlier today that I miss your videos. Congrats on finishing grad school, such an achievement - it's such hard work (I say this as I'm writing my MA thesis so I know how you must have felt at times)!

1. small pleasures by claire chambers
2. miss benson's beetle by rachel joyce
3. circe by madeline miller

GIRL! CONGRATS! I'm graduating law school in April and I have been watching you since my first year of law and this feels like a full circle moment. Take time for yourself because school is effing hard, I can't wait to do the same.
My top 5 books of the year are
-The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
-Anatomy by Dana Schwartz
-Ledge by Stacey McEwan
-The girl on the train by Paula Hawkins
-The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Congrats on graduating, hoping 2023 is amazing for you :)
I read so many good books this year but I do have a top 10 (there's no particular order; all of them mean the same to me):
1. the entirety of Berserk by Kentaro Miura (this is a fantasy manga and everything about it is just so perfect)
2. The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang (very dark fantasy; this book wrecked me)
3. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman (I felt so connected to the characters; it kind of made me question my whole life)
4. Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (this is kind of philosophy and it was absolutely amazing)
5. Crime & Punishment also by Fyodor Dostoyevsky (How? How did he do it? because I don't know)
6. The Faces by Tove Ditlevsen (this is about a woman who's a child books author and she slowly loses her mind and it was so so good; it's very short but it had such a big impact and I truly truly adored it)
7. The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson (high fantasy; I loved everything about this, I've never read such an epic battle; I almost lost my mind)
8. Iron Gold by Pierce Brown (4th book in the Red Rising series, and Jesus Christ, this is probably one of my all time fav sci-fi series and it continues to surprise me over and over again)
9. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (I read this in summer and have thought about it every day since then)
10. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (a non-fiction about two guys who murder a family; I usually never read non-fiction but this was so good; really stunning, it's very detailed, yet it is short and I loved learning about the two characters because even though they committed such an awful crime, it was incredibly interesting to understand their motivation)
A few honorable mentions: The Stranger by Albert Camus, Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
I’m about to start the poppy war. This comment made me excited
Okay you have impeccable taste in books
@@monalisachowdhury6926 thank you very much :)
Such a great list!
i love way of kings more than anything!! you seem rlly well read, thank you for sharing all of these :)
You just made me buy Invisible Man. That opening line! 🤯 Congrats Noelle!! So glad you’re back, but take all the break that you need 😊
My favorite discovery this year was realizing how much I really needed memoirs!
BUT I pushed myself too hard, I think, with a reading goal this year and thus have been incredibly burnt out and haven't read a single sentence or touched a book in December.
I'm hopeful for 2023 and very ready to get back into reading with a much more slowed and intentional purpose!!
Invisible Man is one of my favorite classics of all time! can't wait to read Wuthering Heights😍 Congrats on graduating, Noelle!!
SO PROUD OF YOU!! CONGRATS NOELLE

Congrats Noelle!!!! Just want to say I found your channel right before the pandemic and it was such a huge comfort for me during a very scary time in the world. I’m forever grateful ❤
CONGRATULATIONS! I also graduated with my masters degree this year (with a ridiculously hard final exam instead of a thesis) and it was the BEST feeling. Take all the time you need to recover - seriously. I took a full month to hang on the couch and then I was ready to get back at life. Favorite books this year include Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hamnet, Pachinko, In the Dream House, and The House of the Spirits. ☺️
my favourite 5 this year:
- the seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid
- circe by madeline miller
- the night circus by erin morgenstern
- less by andrew sean greed
- the perks of being a wallflower by stephen chbosky
I am currently reading Evelyn & it just gets better with every husband!
thats some good taste right there ^^ although i haven’t heard of the third one
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo was so good please read Malibu rising it will blow your mind
Congrats on graduating, Noelle! My reading this year felt a lot like I was going through the motions, and I remember the disappointing reads more than the ones I enjoyed. The one upside from this year was that I embraced mood reading more and didn't force myself to read when I wasn't up for it. Happy holidays, and congrats once again!
I would not have checked out Project Hail Mary without your recommendation! The audiobook is phenomenal.
Noelle, it makes me so happy to have followed your journey along till you graduated! You absolutely changed my life and made me passionate about reading, and I'm so glad you're back!
I love that you read such an interesting variety of books. I feel like this channel is one where I end up discovering quite a few books I'd like to read myself.
I graduated with a masters in English a few years ago, and took the exam as well! I know exactly how burnt out you are! But yay! Congrats! I didn’t read a single book for a year after I graduated lol but I’m so glad to read for fun again :)
I rarely notice when booktubers stop uploading, but I noticed you! So glad you are back! And congrats for graduating!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
welcome back Noelle and CONGRATS!!! my favorites this year were: I’m Glad My Mom Died, House of Leaves, Kafka on the Shore, Misery, The House of the Spirits, Never Let Me Go, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I’m feeling super motivated at the start of 2023 and I’m currently reading A Little Life.
Project Hail Mary was at the TOP of my 2022 list of favorites and I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Ive been watching daily for a post. Your videos mean so much to me and i am glad you’re taking care of yourself. Know that when you aren’t uploading we are missing you and sending good mental and physical vibes.
Also Congratulations on graduating 🎉 You Are a rockstar
As someone who was there when you were beginning the program and had so many second thoughts about it, and I was starting my own grad school back then, it’s so cool to see you graduate omg 🥺❤️ Congratulations!!
I really fell back in love with books this year and part of that is because of recommendations from you! My favorite book you recommended was Nightbitch. As a mom, I absolutely loved it. My favorite overall was The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune; I recommend it to anyone who will listen lol. I'm excited for reading going into 2023. I can read about 10-15 books a month, so I'm going to set a goal to read one from my favorite genres every month.
Congratulations on your accomplishments and yes definitely take care of yourself ❤
It felt like such a truth bomb for myself when you said you’ve been hiding behind books. It resonated. Happy you are taking care of yourself. We love you noelle 🤍
YOLK was so good! Loved it so much. Pachinko was one of my other faves this year.
I am currently listening to Crying in H Mart on audiobook. It was a surprise for me! I jumped in not knowing about it because there was no hold for it on Libby and I was looking for something to listen to now and it is going to be one of my favorites for the year, I can already tell! I’m at the half way mark now!
2022 was rough cause I was used to being isolated (with the pandemic an all) and now I needed to be to me social again at work and college. As I noticed that I wasnt as sociable as before, I crawled into a bad depression that I wasnt able to treat. Im excited for 2023 cause I got a new psychiatrist and meds seem to be working. Im ready to be a normal human in socity again (maybe a year later than everyone else but ok)
Who else has been rewatching Noelle’s videos?? I miss the videos so much 😭♥️ just hope she’s been okay tho
congrats on grad school! i’ve been doing pretty well but my bio and math courses are kicking my butt in school.
this year i’ve read 42 books! 🥳 and my top 10 were: The Feeling of Falling in Love, Black Sun, I Wish You All the Best, The Black Flamingo, On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, Heartstopper, Parable of the Talents, Loveless, The Ghosts We Keep, and The Ninth Rain!
This year I stepped out of my comfort zone and got into romance and contemporary after being a strictly SFF reader and that’s been very fun!
Book of the year: Carmilla! Assigned it in my Gothic literature course and oh my! 🖤
What I'm looking forward to in the new year! Graduating with my Ph.D. in International Education! 🎓📚
I think being called a Dr. is not what gets me excited but it's being able to finally get through my TBR list!
Congratulations on your Master's, Noelle! ♥️👏
Our Wives Under the Sea is in my top 10 of the year as well. It was such a beautiful book!

9. motherthing by ainslie hogarth
10. little eyes by samantha schweblin

honey, wake up!! noelle is back! also congrats on graduating, i've been watching your journey for the past few years and seeing all of that must be rewarding 😭😭
I would love for you to do a grad school video!! Some questions I'm interested in you answering:
1. What was the list of books you had to read?
2. What did you learn the most about?
3. Advice on getting through grad school.
4. How was the community? Did you have a cohort, classmates, etc.?
Congratulations with your degree! You worked really hard and glad your going to taks some time to rest.
Books I loved this past year are:
When breath becomes air by Paul Kalanithi - cried so much because I lost my dad to cancer last year
One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart
Everything I never told you by Celeste Ng
The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
I also had to read Invisible man for school and it became one of my favorite books of all time. The opening is definitely amazing
Congrats! Thank you for shouting about Finding Me! One of the best books this year for sure. Viola better get a Grammy!
just glad that you’re planning on taking it slow and taking care of yourself .. and congratulations on the graduation !!!
Congratulations on graduating! What a great achievement. My favorite memoir is I’m glad my mom died. So sad😢. My favorite mysteries were How The Light Gets In by Louise Penny and The Maid by Nita Prose. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, John Boyne. Loved Carrie Soto is Back too! These are my favorites. 🥰
Noelle is back!!! Congratulations on your graduation! 🎉 You deserve all the breaks you need - that is an amazing accomplishment! ✨My favorite books of 2022 were Beartown, Garlic & the Vampire, and Book Lovers.
“Hanging out with people on a page”💜 missed you so much
When I finished my Master's degree in another field, it is hard to describe what happened, but there was a weird emptiness because I was used to pushing myself to complete papers, keep up the professional reading, and so much pressure, and then there was 'nothing.' It felt really strange when that constant pressure (for years) was 'suddenly' off. It took a while to fit into a normal life again.
My favorite memoir (probably of all time) was 'Finding Me' by actor Viola Davis. I love her as an actor. Her book made me cry, made me feel joy, and look in a more depth at lives of folks living in poverty. I love that woman! I don't think there has ever been another book like that -such brutal honesty and read by HER!!
I liked Lock Ever Door by Riley Sager, and Hacienda, and loved Verity by Colleen Hoover.
Nice to see you back Noelle. Happy New Year.
Yay!!!! 🎉 Congrats on graduating! I’m so excited to watch this ❤
Congrats on your graduation!!! Exciting news! You've shared your journey and the end reult is something to be very proud of. Enjoy your brain break!
Reading has changed so much for me over the years. I started listening to audiobooks in 2019 and that combined with my dwindling attention span meant that picking up a physical book became something that would simply not spark joy and drain me at the mere thought. I’ve been creeping back into them, though. I have over 150 physical unread books so I have a lot of choice - which is exciting but overwhelming and often paired with guilt (my parents have always shamed me for buying books, even long before the tbr got this big). I just finished Little Fires Everywhere and it was such a slow start but I REALLY got into it at one point. It was nice.
Congratulations on graduating :)
Welcome back!! We’re all so happy to see you!!!! Congratulations on everything you’ve achieved with school AND in life!!
I read the Poppy War trilogy this year and loved it!
Just found out your channel, but really glad I did. Top level content! Congrats for the graduation!
War & Peace, The Secret History, Daughters of Sparta, Persuasion, and Wuthering Heights were some of my favorite books I read this year! Always happy to see a new video from you 😊 congratulations on graduating, wishing you a wonderful 2023! 🎉
The Secret History is one of my favorite books. The Audiobook is awesome, too, read by Donna Tartt. I usually don't care for audiobooks.
Congrats on graduating, Noelle! Here are my top reads this year:
- The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy
- Milk Blood Heat (at your recommendation!)
- The House in the Cerulean Sea
- Thank You for Listening
- People We Meet on Vacation

- Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
- Hamnet
- Malibu Rising

The last half of 2022 has been the happiest I’ve been in years and I’ve finally crawled out of my own reading slump. Im excited to see what the new year holds for all of us ! I hope that you can get back to reading for yourself and finding that passion again

So many Congratulations are in order!!!!!! So happy for you, and now you can focus on a beautiful wedding and happy marriage 🥰
Congrats on graduating! 2022 was bleh for me. Lost my grandma and then my job in August, still been looking, Economy and job market are rough. Fingers crossed for a better 2023
2022 was a rough one. Started the year with Covid and am ending the year with Covid again. My reading was up and down as well. I usually have a handful of books that I would be raving about, but honestly, there are only 1 or 2 books that I can remember reading and when finished, said "I loved that so much!" I actually reread one of them during the year too, because I was in a slump and knew it would make me happy. That book is Ferryman by Claire McFall, which honestly, I haven't seen anyone talk about at all. but out of the over 100 books I read this year, I was really disappointed by a lot of them. Hoping that 2023 will be better health wise and book wise!
Dear Noelle, I'm so glad you are back here🤗 With the time one gets addicted to your videos, and the way you are presenting/explaining the books. Congratulations on your exams!! And happy Holidays))
Congrats on graduating!!! Love that!!! Sending you well wishes!
I saw a bunch of people making challenges for themselves for their 23' TBR in like very cute formats. So I'm spending my day making lists that are aesthetically pleasing.
We missed you, but we prefer you taking care of yourself, even if that means a year without your videos. So enjoy this times, and take care, we will always be here waiting for your recommendations and your humor ❤
Noelle coming through with the book recs! Picked up Our Wives Under the Sea and it got me out of my months-long reading slump 🙌
AHHHHHHH CONGRATS!!! Hearing you’ve graduated and hearing your progress makes me so happy ❤😊
Congratulations on graduating, Noelle!!🥳🙌🎊 I hope the holidays will be restful and joyful for you, you deserve all the rest and fun after such a big accomplishment!! ❤ when you’re well rested and ready to film again, would love to a follow-up on if the study schedule you made in the fall helped/worked for you. That vid of yours introduced me to time blocking!!
Wooooo congrats on graduating Noelle! What an achievement - we're all so proud of you!
My favorite books this year were:
Where The Crawdads Sing
Up North in Michigan by Jerry Dennis
Hamnet
Daisy Jones and the Six gets an honorable mention too!
Congrats on your awesome achievement! 🎉. I am so glad to see you back! I’ve missed your vlogs. Definitely slow down on the reading and maybe do some life style vlogs? We just miss YOU. Welcome back!
Congratulations on graduating, Noelle!!! I feel like I’ve been part of your academic journey through all your vlogs haha. Please take a well-deserved break and self-care. 🎉🎉🎉
I haven’t read too many books this year but I finally finished Everything I Never Told You and loved the family dynamics. Looking forward to more reading in 2023. Not much else lmao. 😂
This year was also the year I graduated so I’ve been off from booktube and haven’t read much. But today I just FELT like I wanted to watch Noelle, so I came upon this video! And lemme tell you CONGRATS FOR GRADUATING!!! It was hard, painful, but you fought through and you did it!!!
I love all your favorites of the year, I’m particularly interested in the memoirs though. I simply love reading (or rather listening to their audiobooks) peoples stories!!!
My favorites of the year were:
- My sweet orange tree (by José Mauro de Vasconcelos). It’s considered a classic for children and teenagers here in Brazil, and it’s SO beautiful and poetic! It was my first of the year and I’d already found a favorite.
I also loved: our violent delights, Malibu raising (do I have to add anything on any TJR book? That woman is a genius) and one that I think you, Noelle, will particularly enjoy *FOUR TREASURES OF THE SKY*. It’s this beautiful narrative about a little Chinese girl and the series of unfortunate events that unfold in her life. It’s devastatingly beautiful. I still haven’t let go of the main character… def the favorite of the year.
Anyways: I am most excited next year for “Pachinko”, “crying at h mart”, “Carrie soto”, and “a hundred years of solitude”
THE QUEEN IS BACK 🙌 Congrats on graduating!!!
The cozy vibessss! Congrats on graduating 🤍
I can't imagine a world in which you aren't hate/love reading classic lit without compulsion!!!!!!
CONGRATSSSSSS! from one grad school strug bus rider to a former grad school strug bus rider lmao
This year I FINALLY threw myself back into reading after not reading since i was 18 (now 26)
I bought alot of books through those years but did i read them? So I have ALOT to get through on my TBR shelf lol.
my faves of this year are Anne of Green Gables. and Dowry of Blood. ❤️
Missed your voice and sense of humor...congrats on getting your exams behind you! I remember back in the day how day one after graduating I just fell into this black hole of "Where´s my to-do-list? Where´s my next goal?" Hope you can adequately relax now and just enjoy life :)
finallllyyyyyy 🥹welcome back we‘ve missed you so much Noelle❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i’m so proud of you Noelle!! watching you grow over the years has been such a joy. your videos have a level of comfort that is unmatched! love you & congrats!! 🎉 💗💗💗
