Highly highly recommend reading The Glass Hotel BEFORE Sea of Tranquility.. so many Easter eggs and SOT is so much better I don’t think I could read them in the reverse order
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi is also an a-m-a-z-i-n-g generational book. And One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is also a great read if you’re into family chronicles:)
I'm reading homegoing this year, I'm really excited! Also to anyone interested in reading 100 years of solitude, be aware that there's a whole heap of content warnings that never get mentioned (inc*st, ped*philia, su*cide, r*pe, traumatic childbirth etc.). I read the book this month and was honestly shocked that nobody ever mentions these things.
i read homegoing in my english class this year we had a pick between there there and homegoing and i’m so glad i chose the latter everyone in my class that read it loved it even the kids who hate to read
I've only gotten to read 11 books this year, but I'm hoping during the summer I get the number up!! It's amazing to me that some people are able to read so much, so congrats Noelle🥰🥰 Loved the video, it motivates me to read more
Noelle I love your videos! A book a highly recommend to try is Dowry of Blood, it’s a short read but beyond satisfying and addictive. (Hint: polyamorous vampiric drama written from the POV of one of Dracula’s brides :) )
I think you’ve talked me into giving Wuthering Heights another shot. I read it in high school and HATED it. But I was forced and high key didn’t understand most of it. It’s my mom’s favorite classic so thanks for the inspiration!
I'll be waiting for a video dedicated to Wuthering Heights! I just can't get into it but at the same time also not willing to let it go! Hope I could someday finally enjoy it with a guidance 😂
Super excited for Carrie Soto is Back as well!!! TJR is a beast! But I have to say I personally love the monochromatic old school 80's vibe on the US cover. It's a welcome change from the animated covers and the whole pink, blue, yellow color palette a lot of publishers are using.
I screamed (and choked on my lunch) when I heard you put Book Lovers over The Hating Game. THG is one of my absolute faves because of you, and had already planned to read book lovers, but now I'm MORE intrigued.
Love hearing you gush about your favorite books. I cannot agree so more about Charlie in Book Lovers - his banter and flirty quips are next level and he is everything!
I haven’t watched your videos in a hot minute bc I was in a reading slump. My first book that I read last week was “Hidden Bodies” (sequel to YOU) and now I’m reading “The Secret Society!”
I cannot begin to describe how good Sea of Tranquility was...I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it, though it'd be very cool if you read that AND Glass Hotel to do a combo video because they do feed into each other a lot (characters swim in and out of each book). I've fallen so hard for Mandel's style of writing and SOT was impeccable 💖
Reading Wuthering Heights for me was enjoyable for the reason people like Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Just terrible people with So Much Drama and I’m here with popcorn. I loved it
the second I started Book Lovers on Libby and heard that iconic voice of Julia Whelan, I knew she would make this book even better. Now I'm falling down her rabbit hole and putting all her books in my queue. She's now on my list of fave narrators. I have 4 now. 2 women and 2 men.
Black Cake is one of my favorite books I've read this year! You will definitely love it. There's a mystery in the background, family dynamics, and the ocean.

Loved hearing about these books! Have now added quite a few to my tbr :) Here are my answers, out of the 35 books I have read thus far this year: - Best book: Anxious People. I looooved this one. I listened to the audiobook, and I thought it was fantastic. I went into it not really knowing what it was about and I just loved the characters he created, and how he wove the story together. My first 5 star read of the year for a fiction book. - Best Sequel: Here's to Us. I loved it. Just as much as I loved the first book (maybe even a little more? I don't know, but either way, it was great, highly enjoyable). - Biggest Surprise: In maybe not a positive way, maybe the biggest surprise for me was Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. It got hyped up so much, I heard so many people on book tube rave about it, and two of my irl friends read it and loved it, and so I just had extremely high expectations. I still did enjoy the book, it was a 4 star read for me, but I just wasn't as blown away as so many others were. I think part of it was that not too much of the book was surprising to me. I figured out most of the stuff before it was revealed, and I think that took away some of the emotional aspect of it for me. - New (to me) author: Probably either Emily Henry (I really enjoyed both Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation) or Fredrik Backman (as mentioned already, Anxious People was my fav read this year so far, and I also did enjoy A Man Called Ove). - Fictional Crush: Nick Nelson from Heartstopper series (protect him at all costs). Also Harry from Seven Husbands. The best man.
Going to answer the questions now! Best book you've read so far: A Closed and Common Orbit, Becky Chambers Best sequel: by default, also A Closed and Common Orbit New release you haven't read yet but want to: Yerba Buena, Nina LaCour Most anticipated release: Carrie Soto is Back, Taylor Jenkins Reid Biggest surprise: I Kissed Shara Wheeler, Casey McQuiston (unfortunately the surprise was that I wasn't into it) Favourite new author: Emily Hashimoto, for her debut A World Between Fictional crush: Jane Su from One Last Stop! Book that made you cry: Farmer Boy, Laura Ingalls Wilder (not a sad book but I simply felt so much love for the protagonist) Book(s) that made you happy: so many but I'm gonna go with Ingalls Wilder's Little House series and Marian Keyes' Walsh sisters series Most beautiful book you bought/were gifted: Little Witch Hazel by Phoebe Wahl. Absolutely beautifully illustrated/presented picture book Book(s) you need to read by end of year: so many but I definitely want to make sure I read A Safe Girl to Love by Casey Plett, I Hope We Choose Love by Kai Cheng Thom, People Person by Candice Carty Williams, and Inferno by Eileen Myles.
Noelle, I think you’d really love the writing in Braiding Sweetgrass. It’s a memoir of an indigenous woman who is a professor of botany. She has absolutely beautiful descriptions of the nature around her, marrying both her culture and education.
so dangerous watching a video from Noelle. they way she describes books always gets me so interested even if it is a genre in not usually into. soooo many books get added to my goodreads TBR it is kind of embarrassing lol
I’ve read 49 books so far this year and my goal was 50!! Considering I read 31 books last year I’m really happy (: I saw you had Elektra on your list of new releases and I actually gave it 2.5 stars 😭 but I think other people might have really different opinions about it
@@user-qu8zs7vs1x I thought the writing style was forced and made reading it laborious. Saint took some really interesting stuff from Greek mythology and managed to make it boring. She didn’t do a good job at making the reader feel the tension and suspense. Elektra was an insufferable character, and I’m not sure it was on purpose?? and to name the book after her, with how littler she matters in the story, is odd. Overall I just found it boring and uninspired. She didn’t really add much to the original story
I've seen so many people over my years of watching booktube talk about how Wuthering Heights often is described as romantic and a love story when it is really a revenge story, and how frustrating that is partially because then readers go into it with certain ideas and comparisons in mind and end up not liking it. omg I can't believe we're almost halfway through the year! I'm definitely doing this video later this month!!
I bought book lovers because of you lol I can’t believe u said it knocked “The Hating Game” out of your top pick. That’s one of my favorites as well and I also love a career driven woman. Can’t wait to give it a read. Hook, line, and Sinker was good too.
1. Junk by Melvin Burgess 2. City of Ashes 3. To Paradise 4. The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell 5. Every Last Secret by A.R Torre 6. Elisa Shua Dusapin 7. Alucard 8. none so far 9. Winter in Sokcho 10. The Great Gatsby
I’m currently reading Wuthering Heights and I’m trying not to give up on it. I’m on Chapter 3. Glad to hear your thoughts on it. Definitely want to see an annotated video on it. 🤗
Read glass Hotel before sea of Tranquility. They aren't related in a series sort of way but it's good to have context from glass hotel to appreciate SOT more
I’ve read 27 books this year, and I just read People We Meet On Vacation and I loved it more than I was expecting to. I just started Song of Achilles for the first time and I’m so excited because I’ve heard nothing but amazing things!!
I'm so happy you gave a chance to Wuthering Heights!!! It's one of my favorite books (if not the favorite) and I always thought that you would like because of the dark tone it has 💗
My copy of Crying in H Mart is on the way and I cannot wait now that you’ve said it’s your favourite so far this year. Finding Me is just THAT book and I haven’t even read it
My answers! :) {best book you've read so far in 2022:}Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng or The Reading List by Sarah Nisha Adams. {best sequel you've read so far in 2022:} I never read sequels, but I liked the second book in the Maus duology. {new release you haven't read yet, but want to:} More Than You’ll Ever Know by Katie Gutierrez {most anticipated release for the second half of the year:} The It Girl by Ruth Ware {biggest surprise:} The Girl on the Train- I had really high hopes but I didn’t end up liking it. {favorite new author (debut or new to you):} Anthony Doerr. I loved All the Light We Cannot See and thought his writing was beautiful. I hope to read Cloud Cuckoo Land soon. {newest fictional crush}: I read The Summer of Broken Rules by KL Walther and I loved the main guy, but I forget his name. {book that made you cry}: I did read this for school but The Kite Runner for sure, or A Thousand Splendid Suns, also by Khalid Hosseini. {book that made you happy:} Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson {most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received):} Well, I don’t really buy books but I bought BearTown recently and I just love the cover. Simple but gorgeous. I didn’t own this book but I read Kate DiCallimo’s The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and I loved it. Beautiful illustrations and story. {What books do you need to read by the end of the year?:} My list is super long but I want to read Know My Name by Chanel Miller, The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave and Hell of a Book by Jason Mott. Also, I do actually *need* to read books for school over the summer, but I am looking forward to reading them. From this list I think I am choosing Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue and The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead.
Best book you’ve read so far in 2022: The Husbands by Chandler Baker. Anyone who's ever been in a long term relationship understands this one. Best sequel you've read so far in 2022: Hideout by Jack Heath. Or Finlay Donavon Knocks 'Em Dead by Elle Cosimano New release you haven't read yet, but want to: Children on the Hill by Jennifer McMahon Most anticipated release for the second half of the year: Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore. I'm chomping at the bit to read more of this author. Biggest surprise: Zombocalyse Now by Matt Youngmark. Choose your own adventure for adults! Favorite new author (debut or new to you): Chandler Baker or Kiersten White Newest fictional crush: The cop in Finlay Donavon Book that made you cry: Let Me Wake by Adrienne Stolz Book that made you happy: You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received): Where the Veil is Thin by Cerece Murphy or Hyperborea by EM Zolotor what books do you need to read by the end of the year? Jack Heath, Margarita Montimore, Brandon Sanderson, Neal Shusterman
SO glad to hear how much you loved Yerba Buena, I'm very excited to read it! Also cannot wait for Carrie Soto is Back, got it on pre-order which is something I never do. It's always such a joy to enter TJR's world. Would love to see a detailed video on Wuthering Heights, I read and loved it at 17 (over a decade ago now) and am interested to see how my perception of it may have changed when I read it for the second time as an adult (though as far as I remember I did perceive the main relationship to be destructive at the time).
this is giving me so many recs!! here is my list from the 21 books I've read so far: best book you’ve read so far in 2022 -- The Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller) best sequel you've read so far in 2022 -- The Son of Neptune (Rick Riordan) new release you haven't read yet, but want to -- I Kissed Shara Wheeler (Casey McQuiston) most anticipated release for the second half of the year -- This Vicious Grace (Emily Thiede) biggest surprise -- Solitaire (Alice Oseman) favorite new author (debut or new to you) -- Alice Oseman newest fictional crush -- Leo Valdez (The Heroes of Olympus) book that made you cry -- They Both Die at the End (Adam Silvera) book that made you happy -- Hearstopper (Alice Oseman) most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) -- The Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller) what books do you need to read by the end of the year? -- i'd love to read everything on my 200+ book TBR, but that's obviously not happening, so instead i'd just like to read the rest of Alice Oseman + Rick Riordan's works!
Would someone who's not into "pure romance" books like it? I like dramatic love stories or books with a serious love story and other plotlines, but I get so bored when reading romance. Would I find Yerba Buena boring / too romance-y?
@@user-qu8zs7vs1x it's definitely different from your typical romance. It's more about these two women working through their pasts and they just happens to fall in love. It's definitely not a romcom!
Noel a classic that might be reminiscent of pride and prejudice is A Room With A View by EM Forster, it's a great romance with some interesting Edwardian humor, and the hero is something else, I feel like you'll love it. The movie adaptation is also perfection
I've just started reading Book Lovers mainly bc of your passion and I was like "!!!! Sunshine Falls is Brevard, NC!". I mean, it obviously isn't, but I've convinced myself to believe it is the inspiration bc I've lived there and it makes me smile to think of that
Finding Me was impossible to put down, one of THE best memoirs I've ever read. It might be your #1 memoir when you're done, it's (without a doubt) mine. Loved Ariadne, Elektra not so much.
Thank you for answering my unspoken question, just found a perfect used copy of Sea Of Tranquility! Are the two books connected or is it just so I can appreciate the nuance of the writing more? (If that makes sense?)
Kyra, there is a story line that essentially spoils the entire book of the glass hotel. SOT would still make sense if you hadn’t read glass hotel, but glass hotel would not be as good of a read if you read SOT first…hope that makes sense
@@kyrasaturn that’s great that you found a copy you’re going to love it! It’s not directly connected in the sense of being a sequel, there’s no continuation of plot really, but there are some characters from glass hotel that play pretty important roles in SoT. I don’t think you’d be lost by any means if you just read SoT or read it first bc those few characters are still introduced, but you might not be able to read them as deeply. I could see people enjoying the books in reverse order but I think it was a great reading experience going GH then SoT!
@@viv771 this is a two week old comment but i just want to update haha, i finished the audiobook of the glass hotel and i'm speechless. i loved it so much -- it's absolutely incredible. i can't wait to read SoT now, thank you all for telling me to read this one first
I read Black Cake for a book club and absolutely loved it. I didn't have a lot of expectations going into it but I could not put it down and it was fantastic... it may even be my "best book I've read so far in 2022 answer" if I get around to making this video.

I just finished Sea of Tranquility a few days ago and I loved it!! I haven’t read any of her other books but I will definitely pick them up because reading Sea of Tranquility was such a great experience.
Highly recommend reading the glass hotel before sea of tranquility! It’s not a sequel but has spoilers to glass hotel in it. I listened to glass hotel on audiobook and really enjoyed it that way!
OMG, I really hope you do the video of your annotations on Wuthering Heights, is one of my favorite books and Im looking forward to reread it in fall or winter.
I felt the same way about Wuthering Heights! I read it when I was in my early/mid teens and hated it because I was expecting a nice love story (when did this become the canon description of this book?? totally inaccurate) and instead everyone was awful. However, re-reading over ten years later, the reaction is more "these PEOPLE are AWFULL 😍😍" - hilarious how it goes.
The way you described Yerba Buena really reminded me of You Made a Fool of Death with your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi, which is INCREDIBLE and I'm quite sure you'll love it
This just made me laugh out loud. To be honest NONE of the Brontes were OK. Majority of their books give off the dark feels. Jane Austen they are not, lol. Not mad at it though.
If you loved the destructive romance in Wuthering Heights you MUST read Gone With the Wind. This book is not without its problematic elements but the Scarlett-Rhett dynamic is addictive.
best book you've read so far in 2022 : - read in french : Waiting for Bojangles by Olivier Bourdeaut - read in english : The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid best sequel you've read so far in 2022 : I think Heartstopper Volume 2 is the only one I've read so far, and I loved it (more than the first volume) new release you haven't read yet, but want to : Les douleurs fantômes by Melissa Da Costa most anticipated release for the second half of the year : I don't think I have any biggest surprise : Les singuliers by Anne Percin favorite new author (debut or new to you) : Taylor Jenkins Reid newest fictional crush : I'm too aroace for this one book that made you cry : there are so many! recently The Passing Playbook made me happy-cry book that made you happy : Heartstopper #1 & #2 of course most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) : I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston
I knew it!!!! I knew you would love Book Lovers!! I am so glad it was so good for you it bumped out Hating game!! Yes!! I’m in my second read Of book lovers. I started with a physical read now doing audio and omg audio is great Julia Whalen is great. Yes!! Charlie Lastra!
Ive been on the fence with Emily Henry. I didn’t enjoy People We Meet On Vacation, but for you to say that The Hating Game is no longer in your top romances because of Book Lovers is big. I love the hating game!!! I might give Emily Henry books another chance.🤭
you're in for a TREAT with Elektra!!!!! a whole SIX COURSE MEAL!!!!
I am soooo looking forward to your review of Elektra (and of The Island of Missing Trees) on your channel !

Considering I read 31 books last year I’m really happy (: I saw you had Elektra on your list of new releases and I actually gave it 2.5 stars 😭 but I think other people might have really different opinions about it
I'm curious as to why you gave it such a low rating? I haven't read it but I've seen lots of good reviews so always curious about different povs
@@paperbacksgalore I see!
For some stellar poetry, Amanda Gorman Call us what we carry is a must! Such a modern take on poetry with amazing social commentary
The way I actually yelled out loud when you said you were planning on reading Black Cake. It’s so your type of book, it’s insane.
1. Junk by Melvin Burgess
2. City of Ashes
3. To Paradise
4. The Family Remains by Lisa Jewell
5. Every Last Secret by A.R Torre
6. Elisa Shua Dusapin
7. Alucard
8. none so far
9. Winter in Sokcho
10. The Great Gatsby
I’m currently reading Wuthering Heights and I’m trying not to give up on it. I’m on Chapter 3. Glad to hear your thoughts on it. Definitely want to see an annotated video on it. 🤗
It gets so much better after the first few chapters! Hang in there
the lonely stories sound like something I need to check out!
I literally gasped when you said Book Lovers replaced Hating Game for top romance
199k subscribers, 199 videos. Coincidence? I think not. Next video you’re killing 200k for sure! Love your content so much. Thanks for being real!
Finding Me is just THAT book and I haven’t even read it
"Maybe he is flirting with me.. I mean Nora! Settle down." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 my feelings about Charlie exactly.
you’re such a queen for the cc! soo many good ones added to my holds on libby 💖

crying in h mart one of my favorites for me too! also if you haven't, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Notes on an Execution. Audiobook is excellent as well.
SO glad to hear how much you loved Yerba Buena, I'm very excited to read it! Also cannot wait for Carrie Soto is Back, got it on pre-order which is something I never do. It's always such a joy to enter TJR's world.
Would love to see a detailed video on Wuthering Heights, I read and loved it at 17 (over a decade ago now) and am interested to see how my perception of it may have changed when I read it for the second time as an adult (though as far as I remember I did perceive the main relationship to be destructive at the time).
this is giving me so many recs!! here is my list from the 21 books I've read so far:
best book you’ve read so far in 2022 -- The Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller)
best sequel you've read so far in 2022 -- The Son of Neptune (Rick Riordan)
new release you haven't read yet, but want to -- I Kissed Shara Wheeler (Casey McQuiston)
most anticipated release for the second half of the year -- This Vicious Grace (Emily Thiede)
biggest surprise -- Solitaire (Alice Oseman)
favorite new author (debut or new to you) -- Alice Oseman
newest fictional crush -- Leo Valdez (The Heroes of Olympus)
book that made you cry -- They Both Die at the End (Adam Silvera)
book that made you happy -- Hearstopper (Alice Oseman)
most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received) -- The Song of Achilles (Madeline Miller)
what books do you need to read by the end of the year? -- i'd love to read everything on my 200+ book TBR, but that's obviously not happening, so instead i'd just like to read the rest of Alice Oseman + Rick Riordan's works!
I feel the exact same about Alice Oseman! Started with Heartstopper (obsessed) but then read Loveless and loved it as well!
@@KeaLynn yes i LOVE all of their works, and i can’t wait to read the rest (i only have Loveless and I Was Born For This left)
I read The Vanishing Half because of your recommendation so now I must read Memphis! I still think about TVH to this day & I read it last year
The Vanishing Half WAS so good!
We all need to read Akwaeke Emezi. Every single they have, we ALL need to read them
elektra was AMAZING!!! i loved it so much
Huge yes for Yerba Buena!! I was blown away by that book. Needs more hype!
I mean, it obviously isn't, but I've convinced myself to believe it is the inspiration bc I've lived there and it makes me smile to think of that
Off topic….but your hair color is STUNNING!🧡 I love it so much. Don’t ever change it😍
Finding Me was impossible to put down, one of THE best memoirs I've ever read. It might be your #1 memoir when you're done, it's (without a doubt) mine. Loved Ariadne, Elektra not so much.
Wuthering heights is one of my favourite books of all time. I’d love to see a video dedicated to it!
“I’m more of a standalone bitch” 🤣
Love your videos! I’m in the middle of Book Lovers ❤️
And am now really excited to start Yerba Buena!
I absolutely love your commentary to yourself 😂cracks me up in every video!
Makeup looks inspired by book covers pleaseee
Totally can’t wait for Carrie Soto in back! The U.K. cover is cool and really pretty!
Definitely recommend reading glass hotel first! Great read and it makes the pay off for sea of tranquility even better!
@@breanna8937 Got it, thank you for explaining! Thankfully my library has Glass Hotel 😁
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on You Made a Fool of Death with your Beauty!

This was SUCH A FANTASTIC video, Noelle! Thank you!
In love with this channel and almost every book recommended by you. Thank you Noelle
The way you described Yerba Buena really reminded me of You Made a Fool of Death with your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi, which is INCREDIBLE and I'm quite sure you'll love it
everyone in wuthering heights is pathologically insane and i want to know if emily brontë was ok when she wrote it
This just made me laugh out loud.
I absolutely love your hair. You are so beautiful! I’m excited to read Wuthering Heights after that review!!!
I would LOVE an annotation video of Wuthering Heights!
Yerba Buena is definitely one of my favorites of the year so far.
This video greatly improved my Monday. Thanks Noelle, loved it!

Ive been on the fence with Emily Henry. I didn’t enjoy People We Meet On Vacation, but for you to say that The Hating Game is no longer in your top romances because of Book Lovers is big. I love the hating game!!! I might give Emily Henry books another chance.🤭
