aztecs getting 5 relics is like having 8 extra gold villagers
yea. and generally, you ll need to use gold units because you want your army to be strong for a small population space.
Hard to count on getting 5 reclics in an 8 player game though.

@@Half_Finis Agreed. Getting relics would be huge for any civ. I'm just not sure that picking Aztecs and counting on the relics is a great play. If you only expect two relics then the Aztec bonus itself is equivalent to about one extra villager.
The combination of tanky monks + eagles is pretty good though, even if you have to rely on gold income from mines. (Mining income is faster than most food income and gold is less likely to run out with such a small pop.)
Oh yeah and you could reassign vills. smart thinking.

Tried this with a 6 man ffa, korea beat everyone with a massive wave of like 400 elite war wagons...
I played this yesterday as Byz. 1v1. On Ludacris size. Dude kept running away into new clearings. I played for 10 HOuRS!
We had a game back in Cracked AoE2 in LAN days, where it was 3 players, the 2 guys allied and converted like 700-900 pikemen for the one guy. This was back when max pop was 200. I got pretty much crushed even though i was playing as Teutons.
I'd like to see pros be under a 25 pop cap.

_Shotel Warrior_ are their unique unit, which are know for:
- Very high damage
- Fast movement
- Fast build speed
- But low HP.
They can wreck havoc when left alone.
Because the enemy will only have 25 pop, it could be easy to find gaps in their defense.
x20 Shotel Warriors under a TC can destroy the TC within seconds.
As a kid I used to love playing nomad with 7 AI on tiny maps.

In a 25 pop game, civs with good towers and castles are VERY dangerous. Man can you imagine how brutal old Teuton TCs would be in this kind of game?
Yellow was actually trolling blue. He researched Fervor. That's why he was goading blue into converting his units. It was a cheeky fun thing that I think you missed, T90

Honestly I would like to say that I would have thought about the monk strat, but I wouldn't have until it is too late and being done to me. Kudos to those that thought of it right off the bat.
Accch, finally. I used to host 25 pop king of the hill FFA on bog islands . back in June, July 2017. I'd wait in the lobby hearing 'ahh smite me' as people commented. I saw high elo players come through and get on with it. As someone said during one game "wheelbarrow has never meant so much". That exercise taught me how to streamline water eco. I haven't watched the ending here yet, but Goths getting 10+ pop led us to either exclude them, or to agree to kill them at the get go. On bog islands 25 pop,, a market kill was like a kick in the balls.
That last eagle warrior was just taking a victory lap XD

I'd take Malay so you can sustain your entire military on Food alone. Also battle elephants. Yeah those would be Pop efficient.
Hey T90 I think I found the killer strategy for that game:
Player A uses monks to convert the units from player B to get over the 25 pop limit. Player B could get conversions or resources back in return.
If you exploit this you could even get more units than the Goths 35

If you teamed with someone you could have unlimited population using monks.
The only bottle neck is conversion rates.
Player 1 - Handles economy and units.
Player 2 - Handles production and buildings.
Player 1 sends resources to player 2.
Player 2 sends units over to be converted.
It would be difficult but not impossible.
You could but player 1 has the option of just taking the army and killing player 2 at any point
This format really deserves more games!
Koreans is a solid choice since towers don't take up pop space.
I'm surprised no persians, since war elephants are so powerful you get a lot of bang for your buck.
Spanish could be good. Bombard towers, conqs, and possibly supremacy. Seems like at low numbers Spanish would wreck.
Celts would be beasts. Fewer wood cutters needed, so you've got some saved pop space there, and seige is super strong for the pop space.

Its like everyone forgets the monument exists until its 30 years before winning and then hopefully they decide to turn on him but its too late (like this one)

*I believe I know Yellow's plan:* subsidize Blue's growth so he attempts an early push for the middle. Purple lost because he attempted a middle push too early. Blue would be the next guy.
I do not know what else Yellow's strategy could have been, this is the only thing that comes to mind but if it worked Blue would be out of the game and probably have a little revenge against him done by the other players, especially Green. And all of this would have been done with very little effort from Yellow. I do find it ironic that Yellow used a non-confrontational strategy (you know, because _"yellow-bellied coward".)_
I found out about Kitboga randomly a few weeks ago and have been binging his RUclips channel since, crazy that T90 also watches haha
What about a Feitoria nothing? Play in a completely empty map, starting with only a tc, 3 vils, the scout and a feitoria (no matter wich civ you pick)
So.... basically "trade nothing" but with a bit of extra income.
@@shanerooney7288 pretty much like you say, but at least you can survive without trade, and it gives an objective to kill, as if it was sudden death

@@shanerooney7288 The little bit goes a long way towards balancing the game once market prices are extreme. In normal trade nothing, if you lose your wood buildings or trade carts late game it's basically impossible to afford new ones.
Easiest way to win this: queue up 10 monks each for a partner and yourself, convert each others villagers and military units to gain a huge army, I could see 100+ conversions in 10 minutes, for each, just set gather points near "allied " monastery and stand ground for each other, then knock out whoever takes the center. Or just 20 monks and 5 trebs.
Converted unit still count in force limit so it is better to do it with: A produce monks and B produce units.
I feel like the obvious choice is Persians. Douche one person right away and wall up. Bank a bunch, make 2-3 castles, make like 15 elite elephants and some archers for halbs and monks to heal elephants.
Persians would have value with their unique Elite War Elephants. Good use of a pop space.

gotta say, i'm a bit disappointed. instead of fighting off blue, they attacked each other. orange had lots of ressources yet didn't do a lot with it. and what yellow had in his mind is beyond me. and red? he was just on an all attack on purple it seems.

Green pulled his Mangodai back at the last minute for some reason instead of finishing off blue's army.
Alright here's what I think is the best strategy: Go koreans, get to 25 pop with only vils and no military. When you hit fuedal, use towers to secure stone mines around you. You should probably trush opponents with the goal of securing stone. Then when you hit castle, send EVERY villager to stone, build 10 castles around the center, then win.
If you get to castle age early, you should be able to hold the center for long enough that by the time your opponents get to imp, it'll be too late for them.
the concept is quite original. so hard to believe the game has ended in slightly more than half an hour:)

I'm just imagining that this is a really chaotic gang war in a large medieval city.
Id like to see this with all the top players, I like how it makes you have to think in a different way.
I think Yellow was fighting the others where they were more focused on blue, and i also believe that Orange should have got a castle up sooner than what Teal did, kind of blew his chance on the game tbh.

Relics are NUTS in a game with only 25 pop, they're essentially almost the same as 5 free villagers that are constantly on gold.
the real strength about Malay is not the 50 militaries, it's the fact that you can produce unit faster than the enemies will be able to kill them.
Either Goths or a tower-rushing civ seem like a good idea with such limited pop. Maybe Incas since they have a stone discount and so need less vills on stone for towers.

t90 Official as far as i know you can build a fetoria with 20 pop in this game so you would be over by 15 which makes fetorias better than usual
I didn't watch this but here's what I would do, a lot of castles and a lot of monks to convert units to be above the limit and also to heal my units with both castles and monks because each unit is very important here

Persian War elepants, Teutonic knight, slav Bojars have all high worth for there power, but +10 Pop for goth is justbetter even when the have no insane power unit for melee combat
I think overall slavs are thr best for 25 pop
Because the got a very stong unique unit, better farming so 1-2 less vills on farms, monks with high armor to defende against very stong units like elephants, nearly full siegeworkshop, and spash damage infantry helps to overpower enemys in melee combat
There should be a mood that changes koth to go into overtime if there is multiple players on the monument at the 1 year mark.
But this is actually interesting, because after 75 pop cap stopped being the standard top one, defensive buildings and population balancing slowly became less and less impactful. I mean in most matches you can literally storm a castle with villagers without loom and take it out.
Oh not to mention the heavily increased importance of monks, monks were somewhat underpowered for players for a while as well, as unit conversion really isn't a big deal in imperial age, and unlike an AI you can't micro hundreds of monks perfectly.
And i really like how this pushes people to do more micro and strategising than huge population caps, and would love to see more pro players having to play like this.

He already addressed this but basically the devs don't want to be unfair and let only him use it but also can't release it to all casters yet cause it's too buggy. TLDR; not for a long time.

I think teutons would be awesome here. Tknights are one of the best units and monks are gonna be useless versus them. Also there is no where for enemies to run from the knights
