At this point I'm only at 15 seconds into the video but I can tell this is going to be almost like watching a completely different game.

I think the only reason why they're so slow is because if they weren't you could pretty much destroy castles in under a minute with just one treb.

Yeah the speed at which years go by doesn't make any sense. I'd prefer it to go way slower but have to hold the monument for less years
It's not even consistant with the years of the wonder
tbh, it would take a years bombardment to do so much damage with a trebuchet like it does in a year
It is my favorite when you start the recording mid-laugh because you can't even handle the bullshit of what you're looking at xD

I assume the strategy would be to be the first to kill the king opposite of you.
@@AnonymousCow168 Because the land is so small the challenge would actually be to try to not kill any kings because a single king can destroy everyone's everything. So its a free for wall avoid killing king because you die as well.

Gray is a legend
There needs to be a shadow feature in captire age you can toggle to turn budings and units to solid colors instead of sprites, so you can look for certain units hiding.
You mean outline? Everything in AOE2 is sprites.

So painful they just let purple sit on the hill for so long when that means he had a free feitoria for a really long time.
But in the end, it didn't really mattered.
@@DeadHandtheSurvivor Purple played so bad. killed gray which was the weakest player, kept a useless alliance with blue instead of killing him early with the lead he had and secure his resources, and wasted all efforts killing yellow instead of focusing on monument. It was painful to watch him make all these mistakes.

Purp not dropping a monastery immediately as he hit castle before anyone else was a big mistake. In a 25 pop game, having an extra four free post-imp gold vils sitting in your monastery next to a castle would be an IMMENSE advantage.

Yep especilaly live casting a "celebrity" (pro) aoe player game like this would be great content and good for viewers getting to connect with / learn more about the high level players

I used to play 25 pop cap all the time with my friends. We would only play against the computer or against each other on these settings (but conquest instead of king-of-the-hill). Monks are key!

I hate purple for what he did to gray. Why try to destroy the weakest person in the game? It's not a tournament. These games are for fun and purple is just trying to remove people from the game so they can no longer keep having fun in the game. It doesn't matter who wins, it's all for fun. Why would he try SO HARD to ruin someone else's fun? Especially the person who is the lowest score and is no threat.
Those kinds of people always piss me off in these community games.
Red, 100 years away from winning, and purple just trying to kill people who can't defend themselves. That is indicative of his motives to ruin other peoples fun and not even to win

Speaking of Monks in a situation like this... what happens if you start a conversion either 1) At pop cap, or 2) Below pop cap, but during the conversion process, you hit pop cap? 🤔
Conversions don't get affected by pop cap. That's why T90 is constantly mentioning the power of it. You can get way beyond pop cap with conversions. Technically, no pop limit.
Conversions count towards your population. However you can exceed population cap with conversions.

I mean, I used to play a lot of AoE RoR, where the pop cap is 50, until I realized that on multiplayer games you can get up to 200. Would be interesting to make AoE 2 DE series with 50 pop limit.

This was such a great game I think it'd be really cool to see this game but with pro's or stick a micro god in the game and see how good their micro is
What a nasty surprise pioneers would be. 25vils with +15attack Vs buildings can turn the tide very fast here
Would be interesting to see this with a spanish or inca player. The extra tanky vills could be useful to some degree as you dont need to give your eco up fully. Feitoria probably doesnt seem like the good play as you just have 5 pop after. So you can be easily raided. Depending on the stone available maybe tower civs.

I should see if I can talk my friends into trying this with me, I might be able to help them understand unit countering better with such limited playability.
Maybe after each switch from hill owner, 1 year is removed. Reset to 100, then 99, then 98... etc. Give a greater sense of urgency and will make the last 20 or so resets intense. It will also incentivise the strongest player to give up the tower, retake, give up, retake: to speed up his win. Could add a lot more dynamics.
id love to see a game where it is crazy. like a small map eight players feudal age max, only barracks and archery range. itd be crazy!!!

I'd love to see this idea expanded. 16-man tourney. You start small map 25 Pop. Winners took their opponents land so map and Pop size double for next match. Winners conquer again so pop/map doubles. and the finals is a big map with normal 200 Pop. Round of 16 - 25. Round of 8 - 50. Semi's - 100. Finals - 200.
More micro maps. This is interesting concept.

Imagine anyone with good monks teaming up with Portuguese, and being smart. Just build feitoria in their base, and once they get to max pop just go neutral and let them take it, and sling them all your units, they could have a huge population, and become unstoppable.
Portuguese can make a feitoria and then 5 monks and start stealing vils. Conversions ignore the pop cap. I've done a 25 pop cap arena before and the best move is to fast castle and rush monks, then start converting anything that comes near your walls (with a few knights for siege counter). I bet that would work here.
feitoria would definitely have been a huge power move

How do I play online ranked? It's been almost two decades that I don't play it and rarely played it online using Garena back in the day.
I'm only half-way through the video, but I'm surprised no one has gone the monk route... Conversion would allow you to go over your unit cap while actively taking away from your enemies...

think the best army comp for this would be 1treb 1cannon and 3-4conqs
