How do you know they're not? In the comics, Atlantis and Wakanda literally fought a war against each other.

Dude the actor who plays Namor, Tenoch Huerta killed it in this role! His presence and even how he speaks to the Wakandan’s & his people makes me glued to every word he says. Similar in the way MBJ’s performance as Killmonger was captivating in the way he delivered the characters words with such raw emotion. You know when an actor gives an amazing performance and steals the show when you forget he’s the bad guy and you start cheering for him to survive.

Troop Beverly Hills is Definitely a needed rewatch!
Note that in that short when he talks about how his people call him, he says "My people call me Ahau Kꞌukꞌulkaan" in the Mayan language the word "Ahau or ahaw" can be interpreted as great lord, leader, ruler or king which denotes higher power, the boss of bosses. It is something very relevant and is a great point in favor.
Except Namor isnt a Mayan
@@Adol666 It has already been said that the character of Namor from the MCU, unlike the Namor from the comics, will be built from a mixture of various Mesoamerican cultures such as the Mayans and the Mexica. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Adol666 Kꞌukꞌulkaan is a very important Mayan deity that is related to water and wind.
It’s so fucking cool that Tenoch Huerta learned a Mayan language for this role, makes me appreciate this iteration of Namor a whole lot more.
Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical at first with this different origin and design but it’s certainly grown on me!

Definitely!!! His eyes were so amazing during the whole movie especially when he threatens the Queen and SPOILER when he is injured in the fight with suri. Omg the rage and horror was breathtaking. Cannot wait to get this on blu ray so I can make a super cut of his scenes and watch it on repeat.

I often tell my friends and family that I will call my future daughter "Pristine" and it kinda became a running gag because they tell me she'll get bullied. So when Namor said "The air is pristine" we all laughed a bit at the theater even though it was a scary scene.

Completely agree. I usually don't like when they change race and backstory of prestablish characters it this guy really feel way better than the namor from comics. I hope that he gets the respect he deserves in the now very female centered MCU.

This was done flawlessly. Perfect casting and perfect execution.
The background score and the music track on this movie is straight up the stuff of legends. It creates such a powerful ethereal mood.
Honestly that first meeting scene feels like something you'd record as a legend you'd tell as a bedtime story.

I don't get the hate, I loved the namor in the comics and his storylines, but his portrayal is fantastic from what I've seen so far. He looks like an antihero, which is what namor in the comics is, neither good nor bad only whatever agenda best suited him and his people of Atlantis!
Namor was more interesting and fun to watch than the main character.
After the film, he gets a lot more love than hate honestly.

Namor and all the Mayan mythos was one of the few things I like from this movie. Marvel should respect more his male characters. Ever since Ironman died they make all male characters be defeated too easy. This Namur can become an antihero and fight alongside many others to defeat great enemies
