- One of my favorite things about being part of the Apple ecosystem are the small things; such as Apple CarPlay. CarPlay is extremely useful in so many different ways. It’s a great way to keep focused on the road while still be connected and listen to your favourite music. You’ve also got Siri which is super useful. You can connect to CarPlay via wired or wireless CarPlay which is my personal favourite! It’s perfect for iPhone. I'll show you the most useful and best features! I'll also answer your question; what is Apple CarPlay. All of this and more in this weeks episode on the Why YOU NEED series.

Do you have to have Bluetooth on to connect to a 2022 Chevrolet vehicle?
Have kind of a hybrid wireless CarPlay using a dongle hooked up to the USB port. Works pretty well. There's about a two second delay and when using maps the car uses the built-in iPhone GPS which drains its battery faster.

Why doesn't my Apple Watch 7 alert me to Messages while connected to Car Play in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler? I've tried "Mirror my iPhone" and Customize settings, and no alerts of incoming texts on the watch. The watch does alert using Apple maps, and other notifications, but not with Messages while connected to Car Play. Thanks to anyone who has the answer! Pete
I have a 2020 Ford Escape SE. It has Apple Car Play in it. It was so easy to used. I even can start my car from my iPhone to get warmed up. It is a little bit more technical for me.

I do have Apple Car Play in my 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. I can start up my vehicle from my iPhone for using the Ford Pass app. Even from my iPod Touch and Apple Watch,too. I even used the map app from my iPhone,too sometimes.
I just bought a base model 2020 Toyota Corolla and my favorite feature hands down is Apple CarPlay.

Been a fan since you since Apple watch world days! I have to say your intros are cinematic now! Major credit where it’s due. But I have to admit I couldn’t finish watching this video. The back and forth with Siri while cute at times is becoming overkill. Less is more. Just my opinion though! Love the channel 🙌🏼

Need clarification. New car has included maps and Sirius/XM. I can still use iPhone for calling and texts. If I choose CarPlay, I lose the car navigation and Sirius/XM. Aren’t I then relying of CarPlay which is reliant upon cell phone reception? I think that since the car receives satellite reception, it should be more stable than cell tower/CarPlay sourcing. Please help me understand why choosing only CarPlay might be a better selection. Voice activation on the car brings up nearly everything a driver wants. I’m thinking that CarPlay is the optimal choice for cars that don’t have great existing navigation and included Sirius/XM.

@@toyanthaog5109 Carplay has the map/navigation app built into the phone and Sirius/XM ONLY if you're paying for it. My car has its own navigation and a Sirius/XM plan as an extension of our other car. My question essentially is why would I choose Carplay which relies on cell reception versus the car with all the same capability but relying on satellite reception? I have the telephone, texting and Siri with my phone bluetooth connected to the car. Again, Carplay seems an excellent option if your car has nothing built in.
I’m glad I have an aftermarket radio in my 2015 Camry for that feature

I have a 2018 Elantra turbo edition and it’s not wireless. Sucks. I’d use it if it were wireless but I just bought a magsafe wireless charger and dock and I like it.

Is Sirius XM on Apple Play?
You can use the Sirius XM app on your phone through CarPlay. It’s different than the built in Sirius XM that might come with your car.

I don't care about the software of a car I care about if it drivers and can get me from point A to point B safely.
That's like asking why the software on airplanes does not have great aesthetic. Because NO BODY IN THERE RIGHT MIND CARES ABOUT THAT. HAVING A NICE LOOKING MENU HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A CAR OR PLANE engine failing.

Umm no the newer Mercedes MBUX is arguably as good as if not better than either Android Auto or Apple Carplay. Android Auto is actually considerably better than Apple CarPlay .. which is one of the reasons I last second decided not to buy my wife and myself iPhone 13s.
However I'll say Apple Carplay is getting better and almost on par with Android .. so we'll see maybe iPhone 15 or 16s.

Aesthetically beautiful? It's a sideways iphone. Don't get me wrong, I am into Apple Carplay, but lets call a spade a spade. They didn't break any new ground with Carplay compared to the look of everything else they do.

I stopped using Apple Carplay long ago because there were lots of things I could not use. I use Waze a lot for navigation .. far prefer it to Apple Maps .. Could not use that on Carplay. I use whatsapp more for messaging than Messages app. Could not use that on Carplay. The list goes on and on …

Don’t agree. Apple interface is cluNky and difficult to use. With need to scroll around all the time. Maps is unusable as you have to scroll to + & - and not intuitive. It is necessary to look at the screen all the time to see where it iS going and the selected icon does not stand out enough for identifying at a glance. Useful for messages. Leave off the messages until you have finished driving (to be safe). The whole thing is so distracting. The opposite of what you say. You clearly are blind to the problems. Stick with the manufacturer system which is designed for the car. Your problem is you are in a BMW or an AUDI which are boring. Try the Mercedes MBUX and you will never want a Car play near your beautiful car! Oh, and get the adenoids sorted and rid of the nasal presentation1
