Love these videos. Father in law was a tinbasher and could still make an accurate panel using his hammer and dollys, even at 93yrs old (no he doesn't want a job}. The Retropower boys are absolute heros, wouldn't it be nice to feature them in a video learning how they learnt their skills and give us an insight into their characters.
Valve job: a very under appreciated bit of advanced maintenance espec on engines over 100k miles. I had this done on my mx-5 (I do a lot of stuff myself, mostly to save money to throw at people like retropower for the big jobs...) and the difference in smoothness, power delivery, fuel economy, was quite significant. Was well worth throwing an extra 500 at the mechanic to do in addition to the timing belt/water pump etc.
Despite all the impeccable engineering that's always on display, somehow my eye is always inevitably drawn to the rear wheels on the Stratos. I mean.....!!!!
Watching here all the way in Oz. I love the regular updates and the way you talk through each project. The quality in all of your build's is amazing and it's a privilege to get the behind the scenes info. Big thumbs up! it's giving me plenty of motivation for my build, keep up the good work!
The W111.....like an others comment , i really need to win the lottery , Nothing comes closer to perfection [ imho ] than your version of that classic beauty !
It's happily filled that 8pm Sunday TV slot here in the uk ;) nice to witness the mechanical mastery momentum too. Mercs looking & sounding great, Utah's well on the way, great weeks work team 👍👍
Sunday night sorted... thanks gents, amazing to see skilled automotive artisans at work. Great stuff, can't wait till next week for the next installment....
I love the work you guys do...😍 Wish I was in a position to have you restore my Mk1 Escort...🚗 Not to Gordon Murray spec.., but just a quality restoration...😊
Those Jenvey Heritage throttle bodies, which are modern jewels, are just typical of the extent Retropower go to to maintain a theme whilst stepping up both power and reliability.
Love the build updates and your work is impeccable as always. It would be good if you could give an idea of the man hours that go into certain tasks on these builds. Having been involved in restoration etc on and off throughout my life, I find it difficult to convey to people the amount of time it can take to do this kind of work. Just things like the panel gaps that Stinks doing.....I have spent countless hours just making a door fit properly on a cat that never had decent panel gaps from the factory. Keep the videos coming👍
Utah’s rear lights are very- very similar to Nissan figaro, They are the odd shape too as they fit the curvature at the rear but they are chrome finished plastic (I bought them online for my beach buggy) I ended up using “truck-lite” that have stainless surrounds, the lenses are held in with a round clip they do look good with their frenched in style and a nice bezel
As always a real pleasure to watch! May I make a couple of suggestions - why not invest in your own specialised machine shop and install your own 3D scanner. This would save delays and cut the build time on your wonderful projects. Secondly being a dedicated hater of the LS motor that seems to infest some of your cars, surely a modern Mercedes Benz V8 would have been a better choice for the Project Kaisers. In AMG tune the power output would have matched that of the LS and complete with its transmission would have maintaine the Mercedes resto mod theme. These engines are a common fitment in Germany and I suggest that you check up on the several Mercedes resto mod specialist company's sites for further information.
Basically, what you are saying is that the Camaro is right pile of Sh**e, which I would agree with! Top job on everything else, can't wait to see the Chevette on the road. Love the sound of the Kaiser Keep up the good work chaps!
The Camaro - they where a mass produced, generally fast and ill handling pile of shit from the get go. But, if anyone can "polish a turd" the Retropower team are the crew to do it. Ultimately they area business and if the client is willing to have a/their favourite turd polished then far be it for Retropower to not take his/her money to do it. There's no accounting for taste!
How can you call yourselves a car channel when you just went to the w111 and started it first turn of the key?!?!?!? Don't you know you should be shouting, swearing and getting bent outta shape about the impending completion deadline because it won't start and blah blah blah? 🙄 Seriously though, absolutely love that car, such an elegant design and sounds very naughty. You've finished off my weekend nicely with this video, thank you.
17:14 Would someone please buy Rich (?) some safety goggles. Fantastic workmanship but an eye injury can curtail your vocation in an instant. Take nothing for granted. I'll get off my OH&S box now!
Can you give us an update on the Mustang please? I love everything you are doing, please keep it coming. I work just down the road from you garage, I must have driven past your entrance a number of times not knowing you where there. I am on furlough at the moment but if you ever have an open day, I would love to visit your place. Regards Pete
There’d probably be a couple of horsepower in it due to slightly better scavenging, but to an extent, pressure is pressure, and a h pipe setup will still scavenge way better than having no link between the banks.
Checked,.. yup, Hell Crate is a Dealer Available Part, so long as the English dealers are aware of getting a part number for it on their orders system. This is what the CV8 needs, not some cheap Chev lump.
Good evening Nat. Brilliant coverage as always . How's the MOGGIE ? I think it may be on the back burner ? And l see Stu' ( your resident kamikaze pilot ) is still hell bent on refusing any ppe ! However , l do admire his tenacity. This is exactly the kind of work l love doing . Thanks Guys !
The very obvious. Webers require soft mounts or they will have all sorts of viabration issues. The one piece filter too will do the same. With the Camaro, think!. Those things flex quite a lot. Hence all the rubber mounts. When solid mounted the gaps will change. Even the doors. All of this is ok for a racecar but not a roadcar. The Mustangs were a LOT stiffer car. As for the Jensen,, keep it Mopar powered. All bar the real early ones had big blocks, 383 or 440. No problem with parts for those and the same streetable power. If not more. Alloy heads, intake etc gets the weight down
Current trend in the US/UK/ Aus is for placing modern V8's in old classics, ditching the SBC, Ford Windsor etc etc. The other bloke explained why they didn't go with the latest Chrysler V8 in the last video (no agency in the UK)
would doubt it, i own a tax and mot exempt landrover, there's a points system to keep the exemption including engine brakes suspension etc, too many changes to the merc for it to be classed as original for exemption.
I suggest nobody should be informed of changes. It's none of anyone's business as far as I would be concerned. To many rules n regs. Load of ol bollocks
@@budycelyn whats happened to all those V8 hot rods with a Ford pop body and jag back end. 40s/50s steel body running the original reg. When the tax exempt came in ,most where , according to the reg plate 25+ years old. If i recall it was vehicles registered before 1973, then rolled over every year.
I think they are both great at it, with their different ways of presenting. But I'm sure you could teach both of them how to do a much better job, from behind your keyboard.
I fully appreciate style and taste are intensely personal matters - your dress sense and beverage choice being excellent illustrations of this - but that W111 is vulgarity on shiny wheels. The craftsmanship is beyond reproach, and this is what makes it so difficult to accept the end result. A Harlem pimp would blush at the ostentatious overkill.

Sublime is the word for that Mercedes.

These uncut videos are a weekly highlight - keep them coming!!
Another excellent update video, thanks. ps I think it would be worth mentioning to Rich that wearing safety glasses while grinding would make sense.
You boys are next level! You turn some very special cars out 👍
Makes my Monday morning quite bearable :-)
Top job boys..😎
As ever, superb insight into current projects. Huge thanks for taking the time to post each week - this is the highlight of the week!
Best part of the week!

Perfect ending of the sunday evening :) Great channel and these Uncut Episodes are perfect :)

Nice to see these cars done to very high standard .yes awsome.
The power people have been getting out of straight sixes these days is crazy, the 2JZ, the RB's and the Barra's are monsters.
What's an RB...
@@joeschlotthauer840 The RB is the engine that came in the Nissan Skyline GTR's RB26, 28 and 30 etc which refers to their displacement.

Looking forward to Shove-it completion....
Look at the various ways the Jaguar XK engine has the HT leads run there are some really nice setups :)
When my lottery numbers come up, I'll be straight down to see you. 😁

Great update. Gis a job.👍
We wait all week and then it's over so quickly. Amazing work, but that's standard with these guys. Perfection or GTFO 👌🏼
GTFO? isn't that a Tesla equivalent to a GTO or GTX ? ;)

Is the 2JZ 2.5 or 3.0L ?
Do they only do complete cars or would they tackle one off elements of someone else's project?
Real men drink double strength squash... apparently... 😏
What PDU system did you use in the W111?
OK I am no engineer but wouldn't a Y pipe sweeping away from the engine be better than a H pipe on the exhaust ?
