Am I Wrong to assume cars like this don't really appeal to Americans I mean the escorts and Cortina or whatever else there was all the small Peugeot cars and especially all the British Leyland stuff it's just good that there's so many different cars for people to like there's a lot of the times when you show British people and and they have a huge car collection I'm just thinking to myself I wouldn't really want any of this if I had unlimited money to buy the stuff but then again who gets excited like me to see old pristine lexuses and 80s mundane Japanese cars and cars like a 94 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon a 93 Supra or an 87 Chevy Suburban

Hell, YES!!! AT that price, it's undoubtedly expensive, but the rawness and fun factor is what appeals to me. No computer nannies, no torque vectoring, no electronic diffs, just bring whatever driving talent you have to the table and let 'er rip! As another commenter said, I'd have one of these, a restomod Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, and a balls-out Rally-spec Renault 5 Turbo with around 400 hp. Done.

As a child of the 1970s in the UK I feel that fast Fords are in my blood. I currently drive a latest gen Fiesta ST which isn’t remotely similar to one of these cars but I like to think that a 10 year old version of myself would still approve of my choice! If I had the money I’d definitely be buying something like the car in the video over a Porsche or any other modern super car. I’d probably choose something similar to the car in the video, big arches and spotlights, some modern creature comforts inside just maybe slightly less extreme than the one featured (although I wouldn’t turn it down if the owner changed their mind 😂)

You have to love these MST Cars .... all the nostalga of the Mk2 Escort for me (my first car) and all modern reliability, safey and performace ... like you say "Who wouldn't want one" ...... only problem is that at this kind of money they are well out of reach of the vast majorty of the market they could have for this car...... But can you imagine if they made a less race focussed and more standard road car as well ... A recreation of the 1600 Sport springs to mind with all modern running gear and no need for massive horse power.. 4 seats, modern engine, geearbox, running gear, decent suspension and brakes but not rally or racing car .... just a decent road car for the Mk2 enthusiasts and sent them out there for like 30-40k they would need to expand fast to meet the demand globally for those babies ... just a dream though sadly

A functioning speedometer apparently is another optional extra. That aside: I'm quick to snuff the hugely expensive restomods we see, but what MST does actually makes sense to me. Such cool cars. For me it would have to be a N/A engine too, perhaps the big daddy but i'm not convinced i need that much power, and with a manual gearbox. I also think i would go for the mk1 body, with the wide arches. That's such a classic/fantastic look.

What a MACHINE,the ultimate wet dream for a 60 years old ralley car lover, but 1 thing. I havent won the euromillions yet. But man when i do.MST can be sure getting a nice order for a few cars of them. What they build is absolute stunning. I suspect Left hand drive is also optional for that price. That MK1 and this MK2 must be a very wet dream for the most of us. Happy holidays to all and good luck with the lotery,s. Then you can make your dream come true. At least mine will come true.

Respect to the owner for the spec. I'd love to see the rest of the collection!
Personally I prefer the Mk1 shape and might stick with an H-pattern 'box, but that Millington Diamond is essential. Interior is spot-on too.

DREAM CAR! - I used to own a 1.3 Gia 4dr (1978 S) I dreamed of modding my cart back then (1980-'s-90's) and here was my Ford "fever dream"!
STOCK 4dr Ghia body in Venetian Red with black vinyl room, and all the chrome trim BUT, with a fully seam welded shell! The engine needs to be the 1.6 X-flow, with ported head, and large valves, and a POTENTIAL overbore to 1.7/1.8 and high lift cam! 4 branch manifold and potentially replace the downdraft Webber with a decent injection system? Smaller pullies on water and oil pumps and a decent electronic ignition.
My old Escort NEEDED another gear for motorway work, so maybe a MX-5 box? ....mated to an English axel and LSD setup, on slightly uprated springs and dampers at the rear. Depending on the final shove coming from the drivetrain, the rear brakes can remain standard or go full disc conversion. The fronts will require a vented disc conversion, linked to a "Quik-Rack"! Front and rear dampers I would like set up for fast road use!
The interior I would like to remain in standarde Ghia fabric trim, in camel beige, but with some slightly higher back Recaros of the period, and all the wood trim and dials, as well as the standard centre console, but maybe some USB and better radio options? (I don't do "Hi-Fi" in cars, only traffic, news and occasional podcasts, etc) I don't see the need for satnavs either as I used to know how to read maps, AND plan a route!
Wheels should look as standard as possible too, and if the power delivery is hugely different, then maybe the 13" painted steels could be "banded" before adding the optional chrome trims? The spare wheel well, I'd like filled with another fuel tank, to compensate for the extra UMPH, drinking the juice so heavily, and still have what we might call "normal" range! (the spare can be substituted with a tubeless repair kit and air pump!)
The IDEA, was to produce a car that resembles the car I inherited from my deceased grandfather, but with a little more "pep" and a whole lot more fun available on tap! Useable, but likely to startle a few more modern hot hatches and Ford aficionados!
TO THIS DAY, I dream about the car I lost, and wonder where it ended up! I learned how to drive INSANELY FAST in my little 1300, and learned how to balance a RWD car on it's nose, and DANCE ON A SIXPENCE! I LOVED it when it snowed, and packed snow, or ice, filled my heart with JOY, instead of fear, or loathing!
If Money were no object, I would commision MST to rebuild my "old friend" and I would drive it EVERY DAY! NO OTHER CAR has given me more pleasure!
PS - The '78 Ghia models were supplied with the oblong headlights and chrome trim grill! I always thought the round lights were just a cheaper and lighter option for the sports and "budget models"? On the MST Wk2, there really should be a square headlight option! It suits the more "slablike" grill and angular front edges of the wings!
I cannot believe Johnny DID NOT SHOW US the new 6R4 Metro prototype, and the Mk2 RS2000 X-Pack that is being worked on! WHERE was the factory walk-about? Where was the interview with the head honcho at MST? - OH WELL! ...He'll just HAVE TO GO BACK and do it all again! ....lol Ain't life hard?

Cheers for ya vidio

That exhaustt sound alone is almost worth the cost of entry on it's own. I think mine would have to be a bit quieter inside though. So, probably not the sequential box. Otherwise, holy hell, what a thing. You just made my week Jonny. Amazing.

My first car at 17 was a mark 2 escort, £50 barn collapsed model ,as opposed to barn find😂 £70 reconditioned engine and more than a few hours on the spanners with my late dad, still one of my favourite cars. If money was no object, a new MST would be top of my shopping list👍

It’s great that MST are making these cars. A thoroughly enjoyable film in what is the perfect environment for this car. I have to absolutely agree, if my lotto numbers ever come in I’m taking some of that money to MST and having one of their awesome cars. In the meantime I’m gonna have to get my kicks rewatching these MST reviews. Brilliant work, you’ve made my week with this one! 👏🏼👍🏻

Hi Jonny, these cars from MST are phenomenal and thankyou for showcasing a customers car especially in with the scenic backdrops of northern Wales.
You are a gutsy presenter to drive such a powerful car in the wet.
I drove 105E Anglia’s fitted with 1600 GT crossflows 40 years ago here in Australia, no need for a heater.
I hope that you can find a 105E Anglia barn find in 2024.
To answer your question, $300,0000 Australian is out of my price bracket for the MST MK2 2.7.
How about an MST 105 if they could build one 😊
    Merry Christmas

I grew up underneath and in the engine bay of my Dad’s 1700 x-flow mk 1 and remember the joy of the test drive at Vospers in 1972 and in 1983 it became my first car. 40 years on if I had £150k for a fun car, only a perfected Escort or perhaps my second car a skip brown tuned Sunbeam Lotus would do. No logic just pure emotion.

If I win the lottery before this illness takes me, I'm buying a range rover 1st, only so I can travel to order one of these things of absolute driving heaven. MK2 only because when they were scrap value I had 2. 2 liter pinto in one. Wouldn't go in a straight line on full throttle in 1st or 2nd 😂 I love your enthusiasm, helps us live the moment with you 😊

I grew up with a MK1,so same drive train MK1 body, but that MK2 looks beautiful, don't need to drive it fast, you can see it's ready, that sort of price is lottery win, normal folk could never afford stuff like that, back in the mid 80's i had rear disc's from a Chrysler working hand brake, back then no one believed it,it stopped on a dime, later when pennys were more abundant,i built 2.1 pinto with Kent RL1 breathing with downdraught Webber's IDF44,back then Capri 2800 i where the csrs to beat,I used to pass them with ease, proper fun times back then,so the spec on these new motors,it must be a jet with after burners, beautiful cars but well out of reach for most of us, insurance must be putting alsorts of clauses in the policy(tracker ghost etc).👍💯
