    Ivashka has had a strong season so far and has really uped his game even more this week. No surprise his first title is a hard court tournament cause he plays fast and strikes The Ball hard. Congrats to ivashka well deserved. Nice to see him climb further up The rankings.

    I, like many others probably, have been keeping a close eye on ivashka after the close duels with nadal on clay and fed on grass in Halle. I really like his game it’s great to see him win one he’s had a great season especially for a guy most people had probably never heard of before this year.

    • @pauljohnson6019
      @pauljohnson6019 3 года назад

      Federer was seriously injured on grass, so that doesn't count, a fully fit Fed would have walked over him! 100% Fed and mentally strong beats anyway, apart from Nadal on clay.

    If you watch closely you will notice that whoever managed to hold the baseline won the point. When Ymer started doing better at the end of the match he wasn't allowing Ivashka to push him back. In my opinion a lot of it came down to the serve. Ivashka was pushing Ymer back from the outstart if every point, giving himself more angles and making Ymer run farther.

      I think that's Ymers biggest weakness. Naturally he plays a bit more passive, standing too far behind the baseline, letting his ability to place the ball do the job. Not sure this will be sufficient in today's mens tennis.

    Ymer doesn't do well against big-hitters, I knew he was in trouble when Ivashka won the other semifinal. Most of Ymer's opponents this tournament hit with less power and more spin, which enabled Ymer to counter. Regardless, I hope he takes this result as a positive and keeps it going.

    Ymer is an excellent player who has played so well in the past and got bagelled in the finals is pretty sad. It really didn't look like he had any energy and just going through the motions. Maybe it's the fact that he rarely gets this far in the tourney. He's young and will learn from this. And hopefully next time he will be in better shape to finish. Congrats to Ivashka who took advantage of Ymer's poor play and destroyed him.

    The issue with Ymer is that he can't seem to put the ball away. He doesn't have that "ummf" (weird way to say it) that other players have. He won't miss much but the other player will never really be bothered by his strokes. He and his coach need to look at this I think. I had this problem when I played also.
