I like Busta but he lacks the fighting spirit that would make him a top 10 mainstay, he's not bold enough which is a shame because he doesn't really have any weaknesses in his game
Hubi Hurkacz and Botic van de Zandschulp share some similarities: "floating" over the court like a cat, very smooth and effortless strokes, an all-court game, a little bit shy but very composed and well-behaved on court, and the best part: no grunt 👌. I like them both and will root for them everytime!
Sorry have to disagree about Hurkacz. There's something about his strokes that just doesn't sit well. He takes such big strokes at the ball, huge wind-ups and yet the ball barely lands beyond the service line. Is he stringing very tight?? I don't know, but it doesn't even sound right coming off the string bed as though it's a push rather than a clean smack. Annoys the hell out of me.
Another similarity: My coach scouted both for German first league when they were ranked outside of the top 500. Hurkacz went up too fast so he never played but Botic is playing in my team since 4 years.
@@a2casius with "effortless" I didn't exactly mean "easy power" but I have to agree with you that Hurkacz with his leverage could generate more power in his strokes and of course, more court penetration, especially with the forehand. Nevertheless, his strokes look effortless.
What about athleticism and fight to get to the ball? Botic will often times just carelessly slice a wide forehand, because he’s not strong, athletic or flexible. One also has a monster serve and the other does have a decent serve, but not on the level of Hurkacz.
There are players like Hurkacz who make tennis look easy, they just float on the court and then there are players like Thiem who make tennis look ridiculously hard. Both are amazing to watch in their own way. Hurkacz has had an amazing year except the clay swing. I hope he makes it to Turin, can see him being very competitive there.
I think Thiem's brand of tennis is just exceptionally physical, which is part of why he's struggled a lot with injuries. Sustaining that level of physical effort throughout the match is sure to take an awful toll on his body. But I agree, both are amazing to watch.
@Matthew Park Sometimes though being too easy going though hurts him. I have seen losing matches because he was too passive with groundstrokes, some of these he would have won had he played with more intent instead of waiting for unforced errors.
Hurkacz has one of, if not the best, wide serves I have seen in the world right now. Even great returners like Medvedev struggle against his wide serve.

He used to train different sports (most notably gymnastics) when he was younger. I think this has plenty to do with the way he moves around the court, beautifully negating the skinny/tall predicament.
Crazy results by Hubi this year with 3 titles (including an ATP 1000) and yet has a handful of early losses too...feels like Stan Wawrinka during his top years.

Well done to Hurkacz but he's extremely passive in rallies at times. He's improved a lot in this area recently but plenty of work to be done still. 1st serve quality improvement is nice to see, though, he was struggling with his 1st serve for his height.
PCB played v.well for the whole week, including final. Even more kudos to Hubi for being able to win this match. They had a v.close encounter in the US Open and Hubi run out of luck and mental stability at that time. He held his ground this time. I m just disappointed with highlights. Nowhere close to what we've seen during the match. Not too many winners from Hubi as if he didn't win the match...
Funny, watching these highlights without fixating on the score, I was lead to believe that Hurkacz was losing right up until he won... very strange highlights indeed 🤨
Based on these highlights at least ... Hubert needs a better down the line backhand. Could use a better down the line FH too. And needs to go for the occasional injection of pace kill shot - maybe with a lot of spin rather than flat. That's just my impression from these highlights. And from past matches I know he kinda massages the ball around the court - which is fine and we'll IF he has the ability to really smash a ball for a winner. Needs to maintain heavy spin though when he does.
