That Eubanks - Michelsen match was absolutely nuts. It really could have gone either way. It just seems like Michelsen was able to hang, physically, better than Chris but what a match. Also, it always warms my heart to see Goffin do well.
So Happy for Carreno Busta to enter the history of the tournament with his 19th wins there. Kudos to Tien, he was solid and they offered us a fierce match, yet pleasant to watch with a lot of long rallies.
Absolutely ! Love watching him play. Came back ATP ranked 1000+ after 7 months out and looked quite rusty at French Open. Finding his form now and already down to ATP 300 ranking and will likely get back inside top 100.
Gotta say its a real pleasure watching Michelsen play. He has so many skills. Definitely the biggest American talent since Fritz ( and almost on that level already at 19 years old as well).
Man, Eubanks with the one hander, I love it. Hope he goes far some day! What a cool dude too! But, congrats Michelsen! Eubanks is getting his groove I feel like....
Carreno beat a 230 ranked player, who came through qualifying and was tired as hell. Nothing special unlike hijikata, who is currently at his prime and is on fire. 😅
@@cizzorzsonandy9773 first round he beat a 430 ranked player woooow. second round is the only tough round, where he played shevchenko (60th), then vukic (94th). really not a tough draw for a player like him bro
Tien is very consistent with his rallying. He just needs weapons that he can rely on to win important points not to mention holding his own serve. Hope he's learned through losing to such a seasoned player as C. Busta.
I never said anything about shame. It's just evident from the way he plays. Even as a rookie, to make it into the top 100, you can't just be consistent because everyone is. I'm personally rooting for him and want to see him succeed. He's a counter puncher like some on tour. The difference is that he has yet to find and hone his weapons to take easy points. Notice how he has to literally fight for every single point he earns. It's not optimal to win like this especially considering he's the U.S. wild card into the US open next week which is a gruesome test of stamina. No shame at all but areas we as spectators can hope to witness improvements during the coming years 😯
At the age of 19 ( he turns 20 on Sunday) could Alex Michelson possibly be the best shot of being the next American men’s major winner? His game is very well rounded and he does not seem to have a big weakness. Plus he seems to be quite mentally tough in the big moments.
He has been playing extremely well from what I’ve seen. I can definitely see him possibly getting to the top. I do think Taylor Fritz is good enough to win a slam, however. Possibly Tommy Paul as well.
@@JahanVijeh it’s possible but at their age(s) I don’t think Fritz, Paul or Tiafoe are or will ever be major contenders. I thought Shelton had a chance but his one glaring weakness ( his return game) will always be an obstacle. Michelson could crack top 20 next year if he continues to improve and wins a tournament. I think he’s almost there if he fully dedicates himself to the game.
@@juismac lol they are not that old. Tennis is leaving the unreal age of the big 3 winning basically everything. There will be many first time winners in years to come, including many guys who are in their mid-late 20's right now.
@@treybarker8018 you are right. I don’t think they’re old at all but from what I’ve seen so far I don’t think those three will win a Slam just based on their game. At a younger age like Shelton and Michelson there is still room for massive improvement. I think we’re already in the era of the Big 2 ( Alcaraz & Sinner) for the next ten years but as you said there will be other Slam winners during that time so hopefully an American man will emerge to be a major contender.

such sportsmanship is truly admirable ! bravo Mr Eubanks
I love watching Eubanks. That backhand is beautiful and that shot at 8:22 is ridiculous
One of the most eye pleasing playstyles on tour, shame he isn’t more consistent
He reminds me of Michael Stich from the 90s.
Why so many breaks of serve between two very tall players? (Michelsen is 193 cm and Eubanks 201).

That was one of the closest, toughest matches I have seen in a long time. It's great to see Eubanks progressing !!!
Eubie v Mich was a hard court war. Real nice to see them go at it like that.
Good to see old school back players like Goffin and Carreño Busta

Eubank's slice is so good.
Low, fast, deep, skidding.
So rare to see someone slicing that good these days.
So happy to see Carreno Busta delivering such a performance after all the injuries he had to live through in recent times! Welcome back Pablo!
