Yes it’s a bigger job, it’s bigger than any other club job, and he’s the right man but it’s not the right time. As a Newcastle fan I hope he stays exactly where he is.
I can't see Eddie Howe leaving Newcastle for England. It's too early for him. He prefers managing week in week out, not two games every three months.

Was all Southgate’s fault , every England fan can admit other national teams like Spain , France and Germany have better squads and better players , but we still should of won it. Players like Carvahl would of been shaking playing against Gordon. Delighted all the media , pundits and fans constantly slated the team throughout the tournament

Pickford saves were standard saves, those shots were close enough to him with little power. Him taking the ball and hoofing it was diabolical, no strong leaders on the pitch to get him to stop doing it
It will be Carsley or Lampard because it would be so much easier for the FA to get them than someone already in a job and in the PL

No! Bellingham's Overhead kick got Southgate out of Jail. They stank out the group stage, limped through the whole tournament got a dubious penalty decision in the semi, he only took one left back with him who was injured, didn't play a left winger for the entire tournament, played Kane for the whole tournament who was terrible and or injured and ruined the shape of the team and he couldn't resolve the Bellingham Foden issue. Why oh why if he had won the tournament would you risk him on the World Cup with that level of stupidity on display? It's like saying if you won the European hundred metres final wearing wellies would you wear them again in the Olympics.

The timing is the reason why I don’t think he’ll take the job, he’s just started pre-season in Germany fully focused on the season ahead, I don’t think he’d go at this time in my opinion. Plus, he loves day to day football management, I can’t see him managing England as you only get about 10-12 games a season and that’s it. I believe he will back himself to succeed at Newcastle that will only raise his reputation, for when the England job comes again.
If managing england is an ambition of his then now is the time, we may not have as talented a squad next time the job comes around

As a Newcastle fan ofcourse it's a bigger job but he doesn't want to coach at international level yet. He's got years ahead of him and will be a future England manager, he should stay at the toon and prove himself as a top manager first. England will likely get Potter but if the FA were more ambitious they'd get Poch in.

Cundy keeps banging on about how England didn't make their fleeting ascendancy count v Spain. That ascendancy lasted no more than 5 minutes after the equaliser came (completely against the run of play) and if it wasn't for Pickford and some sloppy finishing, Spain could have been 4 or 5 ahead. England stank the place out throughout the Euros and the only unanswered question the FA need to come to terms with is: how did they make it to the final?
Howe will absolutely not be leaving if he knows whats good for his career, the england job is career suicide and has been for at least 25 years. If he stayed at Newcastle continued on the same path he'd be able to land any premier league job bar City.
He doesn’t want any other PL job. He wouldn’t leave for one, but he will leave for England I think.

Any current Premier League manager given those players would have had a much more spirited performance and would have actually tried to win matches let alone the final, even a guide dog could see that Southgate was tactically inept and far too defensive in his mindset, he didn't rotate players freshening up the team on the pitch and he wouldn't deal with Kane who should never have been on the pitch in that final.
Southgate was clueless! Next person hired can't help to look good after that idiotic PE teacher.
Here's something that I think is so interesting. If Rice or Guéhi had scored in the 90th minute, the game went to extra time, Gareth did nothing at all differently, and England won on penalties, all these pundits, talk show hosts etc. would be saying give him a knighthood and keep him on for the next few years. He would've done nothing differently, but the result would've changed everything.

Fair point and Redknapp senior nailed it, if Rice's header had gone in or if Oyarzabal (think that's correct spelling) had been an inch or two further forward passing Stones and had been ruled offside, then you would be heralding Southgate as the new footballing messiah. To continually keep slagging him off is just dumb. His biggest failure (arguably his biggest strength) was his player loyalty, Kane in particular, and I'm amazed no one has made anything of the admission by Southgate in the final press conference that Kane (as we all suspected) was indeed carrying a knock. Also, much as I love Jordan Pickford, his long ball distribution (presumably trying to find a non-existent Kane) did us zero favours against Spain, we should have just played it through the midfield, Spain would not then have had as much possession as they did. And by the way I was a teenager during Italia 90 (had you on in the car that evening)

The FA is the problem appointing a manager in Southgate almost as a diversity hire, Howe despite any increase in salary would be a great choice as he is probably the best English manager presently and the money that is generated in the economy when England play well eclipses the increased salary.

A top class serial winner manager is not going to leave club football to become a part time international manager playing ten games a season, Eddie Howe is the natural choice but it might be too early for him, because it is only a part time job I would love to see Glenn Hoddle asked back, he knows the game inside out and to be honest, his was the last England side worth watching.
If Howe left Pocchetino would jump at the role. Either way, Newcastle are still on a very upward trajectory, quickly eroding the shackles of the PSR regime that protects the cheats that now dominate the league having splashed enormous sums to get to the top of the mountain.

Kane wasn't fit but the real problem was Southgate was obviously forced to play Bellingham and kane should of been feeding Watkins and Jude also affected Foden and if Jude was playing should of been next to Rice and he also done what the public wanted this time when he should of picked the players he always did regardless of prem form as they were a team and it's what Barnes said and i think he's right, he basically sold 4/5 players at once and caused a toxic atmosphere with Jude there

Howe is the safest bet in terms of continuation and politics but not as tactically better than Potter. Potter will take tactical risks.
