Beck was an extraordinarily expressive guitarist. Only developed and honed his craft over the course of a nearly 60 year career. Brilliant and uniquely beautiful. ❤😊
Biz! Beck is so underrated. I was lucky enough to see him in the 90's in Wisconsin at a weekend Rock fest. Actually, I have think most of the Becks have all been talented 😊
Jeff Beck played what he felt in his soul. Sad, Happy, even when he covered a song, he played how it made him feel, not just the music. There's a difference between being a great guitarist and an artist. Biz, your brilliant commentary and understanding make your program two steps above so many other reaction channels. I turn in just as much for your input on the songs as I do the music.
Although I have admired jeff's work for many decades- since the Yardbirds- I have mostly been familiar with his blues and blues/rock songs. I am aware that he has played many different genres and performed with many other artists, but am not too familiar with the jazz, etc. After Jeff passed away, there were many tributes from his fellow artists. Brian May, guitarist for Queen wrote a beautiful tribute and recommended that everyone listen to this masterpiece in rememberance of Jeff. Personally I had never heard it, but I feel it is especially fitting for the circumstances, a requiem for a fallen genius. 💔
If you want music with singing ha has had great singers on his albums. You should check out The Jeff beck Group. Rod stewart was the singer of that group and started his career there. Great songs. 100's
Biz: This piece is admired by so many famous guitarists because it (and he) is so expressive in ways no other guitarist ever was. As someone who has 98 % of his vast catalog in my collection and treats each new record of his as an autobuy, allow me to make some suggestions that others may not. Try "Shapes Of Things" from his album Truth. Then try his raucous cover of Jailhouse Rock and the classic Going Down. All three have vocals and you'll hear what Jeff does leading a rock band.
I always loved 'Jody' in particular for whatever reason from 'Rough and Ready'. 'Spanish Boots' and 'The Hangman's Knee' from Beck-Ola. But whatdoIknow?
Jeff Beck was a phenomenon. He could play any style like anyone. But nobody could play like him. Listen to recordings of whales communicating at sea. You’ll understand it’s an ancient language that Jeff Beck tapped into, some how. Biz, great analysis. He recorded a record with Rod Stewart doing a Cutis Mayfield song, “People Get Ready” . Do that one.
Jeff Beck is def 1 of the GOATs. My personal fav is Thelonious, which I just found out Stevie Wonder plays on it as well. certainly Blow By Blow is an album worthy of an entire listen. ✌🏼
I bet Thelonious is named for Thelonious Monk the brilliant piano master of Post Bop Jazz who had many great albums with his bad after leaving Charlie Parker and later, Miles Davis . It makes sense as was “Goodby Porkpie Hat” was a tribute to saxophone jazz master musician, Lester Young who had a worldwide solo career after leaving The Count Basie Orchestra his hat was his signature hat was a Porkpie Hat. Is that correct?
Jeff Beck could get sounds from his guitar that I just couldn’t believe were real 🎸🔥♥️ RIP to a legend!!
BECK IS A LEGEND!

His brilliance is missed Biz .
Deeply feel this one .
Speechless, and that’s ok!
Jeff Beck is possibly the best guitarist that ever lived. He is top top tier.
He could make a statue weep.
Beautiful and soulful. I’ve always loved this album cover too. 🔥🪦💔

Love that phrase “requiem for a fallen genius” you came up with. Perfect for the occasion.

I've seen Jeff Beck three times. Always a top performance. Sounds better than even in the studio
Wired “ Is the song you should be listening to from Jeff beck.

Jeff Beck is much better viewed in a live performance

OMG, now that you have said that, I agree that it reminds me of whales communicating. How primal...
Where were you? The sadness of someone not being there.

Jeff Beck. Legendary. Get into Beck Bogart and Appleseed. Fantastic Trio. 👍🪴
Are they anything like Beck, Bogert and Appice?
@@tonydagostino6158 Could be. It's only been 50 years.
This is why nobody covers Jeff Beck because they can't
He was a race car driver first then music 2nd and he never had practiced
