TBH there’s a very simple solution to cheaters in multiplayer games. Let people run their own rooms on your servers and/or let people run their own servers. Giving more people access to the banhammer to root out cheating and/or general unsportsmanlike conduct is how you get rid of cheating. You’re never going to come up with a perfect technical solution to a social problem, there will always be people looking to game the system in some way, so make it so that those who choose to also get socially isolated for it.
If you are hard into the technical route however, You can also take the route of **detecting** cheating and doing nothing as ostensible as bans, but rather group all cheaters together in the same rooms, but be sure to have the players be geographically disparate from each other and the server location so that the increased lag between their actions makes them rage.

The way to beat these invasive anti-cheats is by not giving the games exposure or at least mentioning the problems every time the game is mentioned.

As long as there is a reporting mechanism the other players can use then cheaters online account can be banned pretty quick really - sure they will annoy a few games worth of gamers before hitting enough cheating reports to get that ban. But ramping up to a permanent online play loss and having to buy the game again with a new email address etc would be sufficiently off-putting to keep cheating at only mildly irritating levels, which is all Kernel level ones ever manage while actively screwing up the whole system for no reason... I REALLY want Microsoft to ban third party kernel drivers. It would force all these developers that use intrusive anti-cheat to actually implement their systems in a humane way. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that anti-cheat must work at a kernel-level. The most effective forms of anti-cheat work server-side, your game client should merely be a dumb terminal, sending basic inputs to the game running on the server.
If a player's aim is near 100% perfect or their sensitivity + accuracy is too fast for a human, ban them. If they are constantly finding targets around corners at a much higher than average rate and have checksum mismatches on their game files (they're likely using wall-hacks), ban them. If they're sending keyboard inputs too fast and their connection extremely unstable, ban them.
There are tons of methods of drastically reducing cheaters that don't require super privileged access to a system. You cannot stop them all, no method can (including Vanguard which is not impervious). Anyone who tells you kernel access is required to effectively remove cheaters is being extremely dishonest and borderline malicious at best.
