Thank you for spelling Glenn correctly I was named Glen in 1962 due to the popularity of the name at the time. People ask me why only one 'n' instead of Glenn? First I was not worthy of having his exact name, one n was enough to complete a name for me. When I joke around about it I say " My Momma didn't st st st studder!" then appropriately change the subject. Phenomenal guitarist and performer, I watched his show on TV or anytime he was playing on others TV broadcasts including Hee Haw! Roy Clark and Buck Owen's pickin & grinin Glen made guest appearances all across the country with many different and famous people during the peak of his career.

Look up "The Wrecking Crew". A couple of dozen master musicians in the 50's-the 70's who were the most in-demand STUDIO MUSICIANS Ever to NOT have their names associated with most of the greatest music of that era ever to grace the airwaves. Mr. Campbell was one of them until he hit the road and started singing and recording himself !
He’s known as one of the greatest guitarists ever, has 10 Grammy Awards, sold 45 million records, and is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but somehow “never got the credit he deserved”?
Yes, Glen was often overlooked, underappreciated, and underrated . . . as a guitarist, as a musician generally, and as a general performer. Alice Cooper said that Eddie Van Halen told him that it was a dream of his to have a guitar lesson from Glen one day.
It's funny how greatness recognizes other greatness, Campbell was no joke, his country bumpkin persona belied one of the greatest session guitarists of the 60s.
I remember Glen from his show and all the other appearances on TV when I was a kid. It wasn't until a few years ago my boss asked me to dub a video of his "Goodbye" Concert in Kansas City that I truly appreciated how insanely talented he was as a player and a composer. That good old boy attitude and smile truly hid a musical genius & virtuoso.
All I can say is, *"WOWWWWW!"* Mason Williams' masterpiece has always amazed & thrilled me on its own. But I was blown away by how Glen Campbell made it his own, here; another great musician & and master guitarist, himself. This performance *proves* it! Thank you, Glen, and may you *Rest in Peace...*
His guitar talent was beyond reproach. We saw him at one of his last concerts at Ravinia Festival. It was almost 100 degrees at showtime! He said more than once "Hoo - it's HOT up here". He forgot lyrics, repeated verses and needed to be guided by his daughter on stage. But when he play the guitar? He fell back into that magical, ingrained talent and did not miss a note. It was an honor to see. Thank you Glen, and God Bless.
Do I miss that man . . another of the Greats that has left us with Music and memories. . R.I.P. Many miles with 8 tracks and youthful optimism and Glen. A 73 year old fossil now.

Saw Mr. Campbell on his last Tour in Houston Tx....wow what a show he and his children put on....one could tell he was just slighlty lost at moments in between songs, but once he started playing.......he was on it!!! One of the greatest muscians i have ever seen or heard.
As a young kid, watching Glen Campbell on the "Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" was my inspiration to learn to play guitar. One of my life regrets is never being able to meet him personally.
What an amazing talent Glen Campbell was. I still have his 45 recording of Where's The Playground Susie from 1969. In those days you only had the radio to listen to and a hits of the week from TV. It was a lot harder to become a star in those days and a star he was. 😀
I also was born in 1962 and my name Gregg 😂is spelled with two Gs. Also being born in that area afforded us the privilege of knowing his music and the other great performers of that era from that show Hee-Haw which was a must in our house every week!! In all the variety shows Carol Burnett, Dean Martin ,ect. You just couldn't have shows like that today. And we were blessed and also we get to see him over and over again now thanks to RUclips..
Damn. There is talent and then there is a select group that is beyond gifted. I loved finding this piece with Glen fronting the Boston Pops Orchestra. My dad loved them.
Nunya Biz Glen WAS the best!!!!! If you do your research, you will find that he was the most sought after sessions players in L.A. Never read a piece of music, never learned to, but all he had to do was hear it once and he could not just play it, he played it with finesse. Yes, he could shred the living daylights out of a guitar!!! He has played for MANY of the top singers from Sinatra to Cash to Beach Boys and that is only a very tiny list. Elvis is another.
@@kathyflorcruz552 I remember watching The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour when I was a kid. It was too bad that his looks and voice were more focused on than his musicianship. He's more than just a guitarist he is a professional musician songwriter and lyricist. We'd be hard-pressed to find another like Mr Glenn Campbell
Loved the Boston Pops! Feidler's great quote: " I won't play boring music!"
Arthur Fiedler and Glen Campbell on the same stage!! Lit AF.
Says slot!
Brilliant, must have been wonderful to be there. I’ve loved Classical Gas since I was a child. Bonus that Glen Campbell plays it too.
I farted
I was a huge Glen Campbell fan as I was growing up. He was a formidable guitarist as well as a fine singer. Very sad that Alzheimer’s took him from us. R.I.P. Glen!❤️🙏🏻💯
He was a GREAT!
Absolutely brilliant player and vocalist! Definitely on the underrated list of guitarists.
Underrated??????
The first half of your comment is spot on the last part makes me wonder if you know who you are talking about...
@@darthtortugas Yeah I've seen the same comment about Peter Frampton, and others. If these guys aren't top notch, then who is then? Campbell was one of premier session guitarists in the day, and has been touted for his ability for decades. Don't get it. It's like a troll comment.
Not underrated by his peers - just noobs who think he's just some country boy.
Loved him and his music
Look up "The Wrecking Crew". A couple of dozen master musicians in the 50's-the 70's who were the most in-demand STUDIO MUSICIANS Ever to NOT have their names associated with most of the greatest music of that era ever to grace the airwaves.
Mr. Campbell was one of them until he hit the road and started singing and recording himself !
Damn good movie. I have it. Definitely a piece of musical history.
it's a real eye opener to see who really played on all our favorite songs, and Glen was one of them
Please don't use the term 'Wrecking Crew' around Carol Kaye (one the greatest bassists) who was also a 'session artisit'
@@blueriverlore true, but the movie about the wrecking crew features her heavily
THANKS for sharing about "The Wrecking Crew", Terry! I'd never heard of them but I'm sure going to check them out, now!
The man that made me want to pick up a guitar at age 10. Never anyone like him before or after. A master's master.God rest Glen Campbell..
Those of you who have only just now discovered what a GENIUS guitar player Glen Campbell was, you are all in for a real treat!
One of the greatest musicians ever and never truly got the credit he deserved. Gone but not forgotten!
Glen was a renowned session man, had #1 records, movies, a TV show and toured almost to the end of his life. He got credit.
True!
Eddie knew Alice was a friend of Glen's. He asked Alice, Do you think you could get me a guitar lesson with Glen?
It's funny how greatness recognizes other greatness, Campbell was no joke, his country bumpkin persona belied one of the greatest session guitarists of the 60s.
I find that to be a common misconception...he definitely was not underrated, especially among other musicians that understood his immense talent.
@@rhondaquintero7369 I'm talking about the general public, and people like the buffoons at rags like Rolling Stone magazine.
Eddie got his wish... Both Eddie and Glen are jamming upstairs! R.I.P
Too few people realize what an amazing guitar player Glen was. He was right up there with the best.
Glen Campbell was one phenomenal guitar picker! It was a very sad day when he died.
My god, it is 2021 and I still cry that Glen is gone. I would say he was one of the "Guitar Gods".
He was like a rhinestone cowboy riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo.
One of THE greatest songs ever written and I was in Vietnam when it came out. Never forget it. Helped bring me home.
🇺🇸 God bless you Sir.
Thank you for your service
Campbell is still one of those top all time guitar players. Talent folks. Real talent
Top Shelf Talent....Few will ever come close...Thankyou Glen Campbell
Do I miss that man . . another of the Greats that has left us with Music and memories. . R.I.P. Many miles with 8 tracks and youthful optimism and Glen. A 73 year old fossil now.
Heard this tune for the first time on the Andy Williams show in the 60's. Mason Williams was playing. Always been one of my favorite pieces of music. Love it today in 2021. G.C. just brings it home. 🎸🎶🎵📯🎺
Love glens music
Even today
Adios
Terry lynch
He was the best. Loved his voice to. Rip.
Saw Mr. Campbell on his last Tour in Houston Tx....wow what a show he and his children put on....one could tell he was just slighlty lost at moments in between songs, but once he started playing.......he was on it!!! One of the greatest muscians i have ever seen or heard.
Haven’t heard this tune in so long. It’s awesome. Glenn and Boston P … can’t go wrong
As a young kid, watching Glen Campbell on the "Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" was my inspiration to learn to play guitar. One of my life regrets is never being able to meet him personally.
I assume that's the television show he refers to at the beginning?
@@NotKyleChicago yes. It was Glen Campbell's weekly variety show.
What an amazing talent Glen Campbell was. I still have his 45 recording of Where's The Playground Susie from 1969. In those days you only had the radio to listen to and a hits of the week from TV. It was a lot harder to become a star in those days and a star he was. 😀
What an incredible life. America loves you, Glen. You were the magical boy, weren't you.
Thanks for the sweet sentiment, well put!!
i wouldn't want the life he had, 4 marriages, 9 children and alzheimer's at the end!!!
Love the smile on his face when he played this. You can tell he really loved his music
Son/Daughter...a long time ago, people used to play instruments to play music...it was a magical time...
One of my favorites. I was lucky enough to see him in concert in the 70s.
The guy could move fluently between any scale, mode, key, time signature, etc. Probably the most natural gifted guitarist in country/pop/rock
I went to Classical high school Lynn MA. 1967-70. our theme song!
Glen Campbell , a wonderful example of you don't know what you've got until it's gone . X
Fantastic!!!! That was impressive!!!
Glen Campbell was an incredible talent. Thank goodness for RUclips.
He lives on for all to see!!!!
He was such a wonderful talent and also a great singer one of the best of all time and he seemed very humble also
Arthur Fiedler.. I have seen this man in person. The Boston Pops. Two of the all time greats together here.
I'm 62 & have watched Glen since I was 2 years old. He was the most brilliant guitarist ever.
Indeed.
Damn. There is talent and then there is a select group that is beyond gifted. I loved finding this piece with Glen fronting the Boston Pops Orchestra. My dad loved them.
My Uncle was part of the WGBH camera crew that filmed these shows, he said Arthur Fiedler could be a real monster to members of the orchestra
One of my favorite songs. Beautifully done.
Thank you Glen for sharing your talent with us. R.I.P.
Just simply great with a full orchestra.
Glen Campbell left his Mark on the world . RIP
Glen was simply amazing. He had it all: talent, voice, looks and charisma. Very few come close. Still miss you, Glen ❤
What talent!! Most people didn't know he could shred a guitar with the best of them.
Musicians across ALL genres knew he could & he was in a class by himself in their eyes.
I was basically raised by glen’s cousin... every time I see him.. I see Terry. Makes me happy and sad. Damn that hurts...
That was excellent, and a great reminder of how strong Campbell's playing was.
I loved Glenn Campbell all my life and I’ve never seen anything like this. It was amazing.
love ya 70's--one of the good memories
Glen Campbell was my first crush when I saw him as a Texas Ranger in the first True Grit with John Wayne. One of the top 10 movies ever.
I remember watching The Glen Cambell Good Time Hour the night Maspn Williams premiered that song in 1968
Seems like yesterday.
Glen was such an underrated guitar player. Obviously, that man could play. RIP, Mr Campbell....
He is on the list an absolute underrated virtuosos not to mention a great vocalist r.I.p Mr. Campbell ur truly missed
NEVER underrated - except by noobs who are enthralled by computer generated fake stuff & who think he's just some old country has been.
@@kathyflorcruz552 I remember watching The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour when I was a kid. It was too bad that his looks and voice were more focused on than his musicianship. So, I'm definitely not a "noob." What I meant was when these "lists" of American musicians are compiled, Glen rarely gets a mention, which IMHO, is total BS! RIP Mr Campbell. You are missed....
Glen was never an underrated guitar player. His guitar playing is on over 600 albums from the Monkees to Frank Sinatra.
God was generous with this man in handing out talent (and drive) .. not only an incredible singer, with an extraordinary range, but also an incredible musician who could play any style music and make it sound better. Miss that we can never hear him perform live again but appreciate all the recorded performances left behind.
He was pretty funny too sometimes. 😂
… and great hair.
Glenn Campbell and his guitar what more needs to be said!
A gifted guitar player that will be remembered forever 🎼🎵
I remember watching Glen Campbell's show. My sisters and I loved it...
What a legend. Nothing he couldn’t play and play well. Bought so much joy to so many people with his music
WOW! First time I have heard this in a long time! I remember my older sister introducing me to Classical Gas back in the early 70's.
