So im a vocal producer and use a VE-20 which i run through the RC 505 and then im trying to hook it up to ableton live to produce music live. .I was hoping I could get every loop to appear as a seperate track so I could properly mix and master music and then use DUBLER to add subbass + extra drums... and ya.. wondering how to best go about that? Do I just record it live as one take and then add the subbass after? or do that through the looper? Or just set up looper tracks in ableton and then loop the tracks through? Im soooo lost rn but grateful for some of the info in your video which helped with running it smoothly to record through ableton + syncing it

Hello, To synchronize the rc505 mk2 with Ableton, you must first configure the rc505mk2 in the USB menu to put storage on OFF then in the MIDI menu on CLOCK to put USB (AUTO). in Ableton configure the RC 505 mk2 in SYNC out and then its other equipment in Track

"all" is still relative to us... :-) We tried a "free tempo"_Loop on the RC 505, e.g. sing or play a free form phrase and once looped (where - obviously - the 505 will determine it's own cycle/loop temp) drag Ableton with it and further develop the composition. Result: Ableton does NOT sync properly to the 505...!!! How come? Boss gives blah and Ableton gives blah, too. Even 3 minutes didn't catch up with this issue! 🙂
When I hit system 4 times to change my rc 505 from usb storage to usb audio it’s doesn’t do anything my loopstation just says usb storage idling and I don’t know what to do
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but my rc 505 isnt looping anything in Ableton. I can play notes on my impulse novation midi, I setup my input and outputs and syncs exactly like you have in the video, yet when I try to play something and have it loop like you’re easily doing in the video, it just doesn’t loop. I’m sure there’s an oversight somewhere.
Sounds like it's just not recording your input. Make sure that your usb routing is set to LOOP IN ;) Hope that helps! Otherwise drop another comment :)

Or is the RC and Keys just plugged into the computer separately? I feel like I’m close, but it’s still not looping on command. You’ve been a huuuuge help with these videos though.
Try your actual computer’s input and output settings (in sound preferences for Mac), I had a similar thing happen but then when I changed my macs output to RC-505 it sorted it, hopefully that’s it!

Did you find a solution in the end Mitchell? I spent hours last night trying to figure it out. The problem was the big sur update wasn't compatible with the last boss update so you have to download the most recent boss firmware and driver then play with the settings in your Mac. There is a video on RUclips explaining it all

Really appreciate the video man! Quick question, I have this set up currently, midi keyboard triggering a vst, routed into the rc-505, then back into ableton However, whenever I play anything in sync with the rc-505's rhythm sound, it sounds in time as I'm hearing it and playing it in real time, but once playback begins, there is always a noticeable delay, enough to make laying down a beat pretty much impossible I've dabbled briefly with delay compensations etc. but it almost seems inevitable that there will be a delay because of the signal chain, is there a way to avoid it?? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Then the settings in the rc505 need to be changed. You need to set usb to LOOP IN

okay, so you have an external audio interface? How is the RC505 connected to your computer? for the sync to work it needs to be connected via USB ;)
