      505 over the 300? if I'm on guitar and percussion and other things? ... i am using most my guitar rig on the ground... but do you think with the switches at your hands .. for a guitar player/singer.. thats also looping with bass, uke, keyboards, drum pads... do you think the 505 over the 300?
      thanks

    This video is exactly what I've been looking for! I've been scrolling through videos of rc 505 trying to find how to best route everything (where to put mixer in chain, how to connect guitar/synths etc) and this is the only video I've found that actually gives me so that info. When I saw who was in it I correctly assumed it was my best bet. I've seen some of his performances and they're actually what inspired me to get an rc 202 (will upgrade when I can) and a novation circuit. I'll probably use my mpc one instead of the circuit, but now I know the best way to route everything. Thanks! Awesome performer!

    This is brilliant! First of all - a great setup that is really well thought out. Secondly, a very nice explanation of how it is set up. And thirdly (and most of all), a great performance. There must be a hundred steps to make that performance work and you did it perfectly. Truly amazing.

      William you will be very happy with your new boss RC 505. People are saying it is the best one available and I can believe it. I noticed several people are asking about how to MIDI sync it with drum machines. It is so simple it's not even funny. You just link them together with a midi cable and they figure it out on their own. Everything seems to auto sync with tempos also At least that's how easy it is with my equipment.

    Great video Reinhart. This is one that I can really appreciate especially since I just bought a boss RC 505 Loop Station. An incredibly awesome machine with unbelievable flexibility. My Rig consists of that as well as my new Behringer Model D also extremely impressive. I also have a pair of wk-3000 workstations and a Yamaha shs10 keytar. It is all midi. There is also some pedals and a couple Mike's with effects petals and of course the mixer. I record to a Tascam DR-05. if I ever were to be bored I suppose that will no longer ever be a problem. Lol. Hey Joe and Reinhart, do you have any info for how you use midi with your rig? I’m just getting started with this. I use Ableton loads and would love to figure out how to use MIDI to trigger the start/end of the individual loops.

    • @JoeSmith-zi3bi
      @JoeSmith-zi3bi 5 лет назад +1

      Rob, I'm not sure that I can help you much on that considering the fact that the only thing I use a computer for is to store my digital recording files. People find it interesting how that my very high tech sounding music and Beats are made with no computer attached. In my setup I use the boss RC 505 C and a pair of identical Casio WK 3000 digital synthesizers and the Behringer Model D 3 oscillator analog synthesizer. Then occasionally I will bring in my beloved red Yamaha shs10 keytar. All of it is connected through MIDI. I can set the tempo on any of my devices and all other devices will match and synchronize automatically. Both wk-3000s, the boss RC 505 and the Yamaha shs10 all have their own built-in drum machines. I can trigger the starts and stops with the Synchro start stop features that all of the drum machines have built in. I can use either the start-stop button on any of the drum machines or by just pressing a key. I would assume that if you go through the menus on the boss rc-505 or the Appleton live program and make sure your midi channels are matched accordingly. . . Then there should be an easy way to accomplish what you're trying to do who is triggering start and stop looping.

"This jack plugs in here and runs to there and is responsible for xyz...", "I place this before that so I can better control xyz...", etc... @@ReinhardtBuhr I'm just rocking an RC 3 foot pedal with a Marshall Code 100 right now. (I actually just got the code 100, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it yet...) I plan to sell the RC 3 for the RC 505 with the dual pedal add on like you've got, but I'm not too sure where to go from there. I'm thinking a decent P.A. may ultimately be what I end up having to play through, but Im not too familiar with them yet either. I'd like to get a mixer, but don't know a good one from a bad one (or how to use one). Then ideally a drum pad/beat machine that has an actual pad I can play with sticks. Possibly a mini-keyboard as well, but that's a bit further down the road.
      I'm basically as green as it gets with all this tech (if you can't tell), and I can't find anywhere online where someone's tried to dumb it all down for the newbs. If you did regular Looping Tech 101 tutorials I'd be forever in your debt! I also think it could take off on youtube, given the high quality of your videos. Again, anything helps!

    Hey Reinhardt, thanks for sharing your music, your set up, and your ideas. You are using all of it so beautifully, BRAVO! I would like to ask some questions if it's alright. I use loopers regularly at my performances. I have a TC-H VL3 and RC-505 set up. I've been exploring ways on adding a midi synced drum machine to my set up. And thanks to you, I discovered the Novation Circuit on your video and I brought one home. I set it up as a slave to the RC-505. The RC-505 manual is not an in depht one in terms of the midi settings. Before I bug you out with my specific questions may be you can direct me to a resource that you may know of where the RC-505 midi settings are thoroughly explained? if not: I'm having hard time optimizing the way devices talk to each other. One of the issues: 1- The tempo generated from the loop on RC-505 is registered on the Novation in double time, is there a way to fix that? 2- As soon as I end the loop recording on RC-505 novation is triggered, is there a setting on RC 505 that will allow me to manually bring the drum machine in later (like on your set up) while it stays synced? 3- Can you share your midi setting scheme on the RC-505? Thanks a lot and all the best.

    • @ReinhardtBuhr
      @ReinhardtBuhr  5 лет назад

      You just gave me a new video idea, my wife just got the voice live touch 2 and we midi synced that with my looper plus the novation and it works amazingly! I will make a video explaining everything very soon! stay tuned and thanks for your comment. Did you use the settings from the factory or did you tweak anything?

    • @EMREMUSIC
      @EMREMUSIC 5 лет назад +1

      @@ReinhardtBuhr Glad to hear that. Looking forward to seeing that video. I tried both, some issues with both tweaked and not tweaked. When using an init memory slot that is not tweaked, my FS-6 foot switch (which I use to trigger loop recording on track 1-2) triggers Novation in unintended ways. And when tweaked, the foot switches work as intended, I assign the midi port as the assign 3 switch. But then the tempo translates as double time to Novation. In your system midi settings: do you have the omni on or off? The midi sync I suppose should be internal since we want the 505 to be the master. Really appreciate your fast reply. Have a lovely day in Capetown and love from NYC.

      Awesome man, thanks a lot, I am going to bed now but playing tomorrow and then I will go through all the settings, one more question, what is all your switches set to on the back of your foot switch pedal? and do you use a trs stereo cable? best regards@@EMREMUSIC

      Great, sweet dreams. In the meantime; putting the answers here for you to see when available.
      Same for both A & B: Polarity: left side , Mode: momentary. Best.

      And yes, using a stereo TRS cable connected through the middle input between A&B.

    So happy to have discovered your music and massive talent. I dream of being able to get into live looping and this is a phenomenal demonstration, as are all your tracks. Love the head cam view to be able to really see what’s going on. That must take some working out to get the arrangement and timings all nailed, and memorised!
