    I do this on a regular basis, couple of observations I never use the prv to drain use either the drain on the return or disconnect the filling link and drain from there. Always have magnet handy and never squeeze the hoses. Always cover the PCB and have a cheap hairdryer in the van just in case. Get the Viessmann tool kit great extension for the top nuts on the burner. Interesting to see someone else approach 👍

    You are 1000% correct on the rubber hoses in these mate - i powerflush central heating systems and see this all the time a complete nitemare bad desighn I also got onto Viessman uk who dismissed what I was telling them about thse hoses . I do not like Viessman boilers because if this desighn fault ! I don’t see this problem anywhere else apart from the older Vaillant’s thst had them in ! Thanks for sharing this I got one to do in a few weeks with same fault both hoses have been ordered 👍

    I always thought the hoses were supposed to be cleaned out on a service via flush.
    Easy to do but agree they are a pain and not a good design.
    Cant think of any other boiler that requires this.
    Good video as Vs have odd quirks a bit like the old citreon cars.

    Flexicom’s and ultracom 1’s are the same . Block up causing havoc with water quality. I do love to crunch the hoses though, it feels lush. 🤪

    I have about 60 or more Viessmann boilers on my warranty scheme up to 16 years old. No issues with hoses. Some needed to be cleaned originally but no longer. If the hoses caused the issue I would expect to always have the issue. Clearly this is not the case. Very easy to change if needed but almost never need to. Clean if required.

    100 percent agree with you about the use of rubber inside a boiler wheather it be flow return hoses or flexys to exp vessels nothing but problematic . valliant will tell you all about it .at least they finally cured the prob by changing to copper .if they had used copper from begining they might not have needed the canoe filter .another place I've seen it a lot is on kickspace convectors connected with flexys ,just the same problem hydroscopic material entraining oxygen into system and blocking at the point of entry.but I think it's all cost related and suspect a rubber hose must be cheaper than a piece of copper

    Good video Tom any idea why you brought the heat exchanger out to the garden? I take it you was going to flush it out with the hosepipe and also wash the heating surface at the same time? I’ve still got a few Wb1c boilers in service and touchwood they’ve been quite good also got an050 at home a 2016 model and that has been brilliant too. I think viessmann is a great brand
    Across Europe they fill the systems with distilled demineralised water and the new 100 series still has rubber hoses and they don’t seem to have a problem

My five-year-old 050 has been brilliant but should I replace the rear return or flow hoses by now?

      In theory the hoses do create magnetic iron oxide because they allow oxygen to be absorbed through them and electrolysis occurs.

    • @HeatGeek
      @HeatGeek 3 года назад +2

      @@kevincranfield5235 they are made to din standard so I don't think so. I mean they could contribute.. but the reason they collect is because the flow against the rubber creates a positive charge.. the iron particles collect here.. when they heat up and cool down they solidify together then build up and flake off.
      The rust is not directly from the rad. Thats why (and tom will agree) the flakes are exactly thr same shape as the internal bore of the plastic pipe

    • @kevincranfield5235
      @kevincranfield5235 3 года назад +1

  • @Liam_Hirst
    @Liam_Hirst 3 года назад +1

    My theory is......
    After been a gas engineer for 15 years and an avid watcher of gold rush. 😂
    That the internal surface of the hoses are rough/braided. and ends up working like a riffles in a sluice box. Effecting the flow of water spinning the fine particles of dirt until it sticks to the side of the hose. Once enough is on there it either breaks off and ends up else where in a flake or just continues to build up
    No matter how much you flush a system you will never get rid of all of the dirt
    And these hoses are expects at catching it
