While I love pedals that have tons of options and things to tweak, I love that this pedal does not. After spending only a few moments with this pedal, I could tell that all those nit-picky decisions were already made for me, so what resulted was a simple and elegant musical instrument. I really appreciate those rare pedal designs where the whole is so much more than the sum of the parts. This is easily in my top 10 pedals I've ever played, in thirty-some years of collecting pedals.
a few weeks ago, my younger cousin wanted me to start teaching him how to play guitar. ive been playing off and on for a few years now, but started taking it pretty seriously about 2 or 3 months ago. so today while christmas shopping for him, i am getting him a fender acoustic/electric along with a buncha other stuff for it, but i decided to look at the pedals this local store had. i ended up landing on the pedal in this video due to my very limited knowledge on effects and what i am looking to play. this will be the very first one i have ever purchased and used, so i decided to look up info about it and was pleasantly surprised to find this video! after watching all the way through, i am 100% certain i have made the perfect choice. i cannot wait until i get home to try this out and further my knowledge when it comes to the guitar and all of its accessories!
Can’t get enough of this pedal. Every setting sounds great. Makes me forget I have other reverb and delay pedals. I could gig with just this delay and reverb if I had to
Just got one and I need to get accustomed to it. I like the idea of just one pedal for reverb and delay. Currently using a Digitech Polara and Way Huge Aqua Puss
Simply one of the very best. I own a DM myself and love it dearly. I told my roommate about this pedal over a year ago, and after buying it, he sold it almost immediately.... to buy the big brother, the avalanche run. I dont think we're going to be replacing them any time soon
I own one already but have considered buying another as I fear being without one.Not even joking,I love this pedal so much it has reinspired my playing.
I’m totally sold. That’s beautiful work team! I dig the simple controls and layout and it doesn’t have that “digi” sound that some modern reverbs have.
I had the V1. Sold it , regretted it bad, and just picked up V3 today at guitar center. I won’t buy many pedals new, unless they are bad ass and beyond , and this one definitely is. U can’t find a better delay verb mix. Even the strymon el cap doesn’t score as high as this, as a total package. It looks incredibly bad ass too.
I really like how it sounds This pedal, it has the "studio quality" of a plate reverb paired with an Echoplex, but without the annoying and exaggerating gimmicks of " lost in space/lo fi oscillation"; it is warm and musical and can be used in a subtle way( which i prefer), even before a distorted amplifier👌🏼
Always wanted one and finally got one. Will add to my ghost echo that I bought twice, sold the first one not making that same mistake. GE is Ana amazing pedal and reverb. Also bought the Afterneath a couple times but it was too much for my skill level. Really really stoked on this one for a small home or show board!
Love this pedal, but would love it even more if it had two foot switches so that they delay and reverb could be turned on/off independently. Great demo!
I don't understand how they haven't placed a button that allows you to deactivate one of the effects from the foot (not both). There are nux pedals that with a single switch you can change between 2 modes, leaving it pressed for 2 seconds
I want one. Im using a HOF2 for all my reverb sounds and it just doesnt cut it for me. I like the options and possibilities it has, but not a fan of its sound and tone. I really want to use an Afterneath v3 and a Slö, but i still would need a more normal sounding reverb to replace my HOF2. Right now im using my rig in stereo, but i think i want to go back down to mono with a amp switcher to take full advantage of all these awesome mono pedals. Well whenever i have money to spend again anyway. Lol. 😝
Hi Marco, the v3 update includes Flexi-Switching which allows the user to choose momentary operation or standard latching style switching. The v2 is a soft touch switch with on/off operation only.
The reverb only section was played on the "Fender Rhodes" (which technically isn't a synthesizer, it's an electric piano afaik). The delay section was played on the Moog Sub 37.
Part of me would like to simplify and ditch my oceans 11 and flashback and just use a dispatch master. I like the idea of a minimalist board but I also like pedals 😬
It sounds great. They don’t demo the flexi switch though. I just got the pedal and it turns out the momentary flexi switch cuts the tail off completely when released.. that’s pretty disappointing and kills the purpose of the switch IMO.
@@junod.jthe flexi switch allows you to use the effects momentarily but when you come off the switch it immediately stops instead of slowly decaying away.
@@fretlvlmidnight Yes, you're right, it should be nice to have the same behavior as the Fender Marine Reverb when you switch it off. The sound should decrease slowly, smoothly. It's less interesting when the sound stops to suddenly... it's strange they didn't do it that way.
Do you think this would be good for high-gain solos? I want something I can turn on during solos that will instantly give me delay and reverb. I'm only asking because it's hard to find videos of people using this with distortion.
@@xenod1066 Yes so it's not really a mix as it's supposed to be: 100% dry /0% wet to 0% dry /100% wet. This pedal is 100% dry /0% wet to 100% dry /100% wet. A bit weird.
Dispatch master has 1.5 seconds of delay in addition to the single onboard reverb mode. For more info, please visit earthquakerdevices.com/dispatch-master
Hello ! I have read in the specs that it is 1M ohm in and 1K ohm out. Is this pedal a buffer when not engaged? Can I use it at the beginning of a pedals chain? Thx for such quality products and have a good life!

This was a pretty sick video, but Stefan Fast is dying a little inside right now because you didn’t ask him to make this video for you haha. That dude just gets pedals. ❤️ Also, convince me to buy your Westwood pedal!! I’ve added it to my cart like 4 times and I always seem to think “ah, maybe next time”. Keep making incredible gear, I’ll never replace my Gray Channel 🖤💚

Yes this will be great fun! The gift that keeps on giving!
This is in my top 2 best sounding reverb pedals of all time. I hope they do a stereo version someday. I’d be all over it
When I was looking for my first delay pedal the guy in the shop recommended this. I’m so glad he did! Love this pedal!
Very cool! thanks! and thanks guy in the shop
Can’t get enough of this pedal. Every setting sounds great. Makes me forget I have other reverb and delay pedals. I could gig with just this delay and reverb if I had to
This pedal and the Avalanche Run have the best cleans of all the pedals on the market now! Gonna buy both!
Enjoy!
@@EarthQuakerDevices I have bought DM, and it has met all my expectations! Superb!

Yes! More video manuals, best demos for these pedals

I face the dilemma of having a DM or avalanche run. It will be my first pedal. What’s your opinion or experience about them?
hoping for a tap tempo delay in the V4, reverb is perfect as it is but for live use it’s not really optimal to control delay settings
I ordered mine today. Paid $100 on Reverb. Legendary pedal on the cheap…yes please.
I have this pedal since 2012 and it is amazing.
I use it with my lap steel through a Music Man 112RD-heavenly!
I've been looking into snagging one of these recently and this pops up! The sounds coming out of this thing are so massive!
Fantastic on bass too!! One of my absolute favorites
I own one already but have considered buying another as I fear being without one.Not even joking,I love this pedal so much it has reinspired my playing.
happy to hear that!
I've played a bunch of Delay/Reverb pedals but this is compact and enough for me. Glad I use one. 😁
I’m totally sold. That’s beautiful work team! I dig the simple controls and layout and it doesn’t have that “digi” sound that some modern reverbs have.
Cory's ambient stuff is some of the best I've ever heard. His Transmisser demo is amazing. This one is just as amazing.
Great sounds! Would love to hear a run thru of the wiring on that Tele
Im high but goddamn I'm vibin so hard to this demo, youre a talented musician man

came for the guitar demo, stayed for the keyboards.
Great review, and killer playing!!
Thank you!
Love this pedal, but would love it even more if it had two foot switches so that they delay and reverb could be turned on/off independently. Great demo!
You could get a attatchment to the knob so you can control the reverb with your foot.

Modern day classic.
what you played around the 2.45 mark was epic

@@EarthQuakerDevices of course, this is the first pedal I got about 7 months ago. I have 8 pedals now, its the best fun ever.
Sounds absolutely amazing!
Is there any way to independently turn the delay on and off? A separate foot switch, expression pedal, etc?
Sorry none of those features are on it!

I have been waiting for years for them to make a tap tempo version! Please!
get ready to wait eternally! Thanks for using it!
Not needed, EQD is spot on with this: no endless fiddling, just straight-up amazing sound at any setting.
Excellent-I dig that you do demos of pedals that have been out for a while now. Thank you.
Glad you like them!
Nice touch
I own a V1 and a V3. Maybe I should purchase a V2 to round out the set 🤘🏽
what is the difference?
Excellent presentation.
Thanks for watching
Does it have a less obvious/overt setting....something to fill out and warm up the background?
Yes, pretty much anything below too much is just right.
@@EarthQuakerDevices Truth!
Just ordered 👍
Good choice!
Excellent Demonstration ! Thx
Great video! I was wondering why the control rows got flipped between V2 (which I have) and V3. It threw me off when I first saw it.
sometimes we change control locations when a circuit is revised
Great and complete review!!
If I could only use 1 pedal, I'd always go for this one!!!
Just ordered one of these guys.
I still don’t understand why I don’t own one of these yet

Hi Marco, the v3 update includes Flexi-Switching which allows the user to choose momentary operation or standard latching style switching. The v2 is a soft touch switch with on/off operation only.
Can I ask what is the synthesizer you demo'd the reverb only on?
Moog Sub37 Tribute Edition
The reverb only section was played on the "Fender Rhodes" (which technically isn't a synthesizer, it's an electric piano afaik). The delay section was played on the Moog Sub 37.
That moog riff sounds so much like bleed by deadmau5
Dope Moog at 3:34 !!!
Part of me would like to simplify and ditch my oceans 11 and flashback and just use a dispatch master. I like the idea of a minimalist board but I also like pedals 😬
No reason why you can't have both. I saw a pedalboard the size of Delaware the other day.
The Oceans 11 didn't have any settings that I liked whereas this has two great ones.
It sounds great. They don’t demo the flexi switch though. I just got the pedal and it turns out the momentary flexi switch cuts the tail off completely when released.. that’s pretty disappointing and kills the purpose of the switch IMO.

what organ synth is that ?
Moog SUB37!
Am I crazy or the reverb actually sounds better than the avalanche run?
it does sound much better, i sent back the AR as soon as i got it, felt sterile

What is the difference between this and a Boss RV-6?

Just take my money. Gawd.
Beautiful. When both effects are on are they parallel, or does a bit of delay feed into the reverb? Or vice-versa?
When both effects are on they are in series. Delay>Reverb. The Delay feeds into the Reverb on the Dispatch Master.
@@EarthQuakerDevices It's awesome. Thank you.
It totally sounds like it’s parallel!!😅 I was look EVERYWHERE for this answer @EarthQuakerDevices ! 🎉
