Beautiful tree, beautiful vid, Master faller. I hope my little 4ft x 90ft elm wedges over a little easier this weekend, got a little more forward weight and lean in my favor, 20 mph tail wind will prolly do all the work.
Excellent job! That old oak was there since before the founding of our country. Beautiful grain and color to it, I hope you get some good green out of it too!
New bar , new skip ? That saw could tell some stories I would guess . You do a great job not pulling fiber on the stump . Thanks for another great video .
I'm actually impressed that you didn't screw up. With practically cutting off all your holding wood. As the great John Wayne said, " Better to be lucky than good"
I'm pretty sure that he used a bore cut, it's what you use when you aren't sure how solid the center of the tree is, i think, i'm not claiming to be an expert. Just adding my 2 cents.
He's a logger!!!!! Cutting the heart out is what you do! You want to avoid as much fiber wood as possible. The buyers will nock the price if you dont. Watch and learn this man can teach you alot.
Greetings, you were a little worried, but in the end you came out of this fight as a winner. Well done and I wish you well and good health 👍💪🙂🤝. Greetings from the 🇨🇿Czech Republic, Hošťálková. Good luck.
Sorry I know this was quite a while ago but do you remember how many feet was in that tree?? That’s a massive oak bud!! Can’t believe it was 💯 percent solid. That’s awesome!!!
Well done as usual. If you can give us an update, I'd like to know what the end user did with it. Lots of knots and lightning strikes makes it seem like quite a few low quality boards. Wondering if maybe it got used for something special 😉
@OL' Skool Loggin I like how you take the extra lip off the face cut to make it easy to skid. I also think it is funny when people do not know why you make the shallow face cut. ( Waste not want not ) You are logging to make $ right? ( Yep... thought so ) :) That is beautiful timber. Thank You for the video friend.
Hi Ol'skool!!😀😀 Nice job!! I hate cutting those kind of trees that are as wide as they are tall. That thing was a beast. I don't know if I could find a mill around here that could even saw the butt log Take care my friend and stay safe and healthy!!😀😀❤
To me it always seems trees like that stand neutral. I fell a cherry of the same shape (half the size of this one) but the prevailing wind was outta the north so decided to fall the tree to the south which made things very easy. Awesome video. Topping that thing was probably quite a job?
Massive growth rings by the look of it! Maybe 100-150years? Out in the open sucking up all the water and sun. In Britain, likely in a woodland, you could find one that size 800+ years old
Skool teacher. You r the damdest thing I ever seen brother. You remind me of Matt Dillon. When he got on an outlaws trail, it was all over And when a big tree sees you. It might as well go ahead and fall down. Cus it’s going down. Give em hell Skool Teacher. AC
That sure is a different animal than fir or any of that straight up and down lumber. All those limbs really got to make a guy think about where the weight is. I can't believe how that mother held on with such little hinge wood!
don't get much lift with them plastic wedges !! never cared for them !! need to get some steel ones for them biggins or tree jack !! hate see a man beat his brains out !!! just carry a couple for when you really need them I know their heavy but their there when you them and you get a lot more lift !! I cut some big ones liked that before I know what its like !! always enjoy your videos and thanks for sharing !! be safe !!

Oak trees are something else when it comes to harvesting, trimming, or removal. Nice work in bringing it down.

Looks like a 2x5’ post either side. Nothing crazy?
pretty heavily weighted towards the lay. only 2 limbs off the top face the camera. probably could've used a bit more but went as planned.

Justin Musselman I was curious about whey he plunge cut the center of the notch .

Sad to see something 150+ years old come down. It still looked pretty healthy
That thing is a monster! Nice harvest brother!
I mentioned them before Hilift wedges, have a look on line. Enjoyed that !
That old beast had good balance and dam good foot print 💪👍
Wow what a creature , you seem to find them all ! Surprised it was clean inside nice work👍🏽👍🏽
Good job taking your time and doing that one safe.
We have some monsters like that here in Eastern Iowa.
Ol’ Skool, our Hero!
Looks like a boundary Oak.
I just had a 150 footer takin down. Base was 6'2" .About 200 years old. This was nice indeed.

Bravo that was amazing skill on the saw and camera
What was the demamiter of that tree
diameter
6 feet 2 inches

Surprised something that big had survived so long!!
Whole lot of know it all do it all done it all post here. That young man done did it . Come back
That is a true blood beauty of a tree! Good job
How old is that tree ?

Clearly 90% of these spectators commenting have never cut down anything larger than a Christmas tree 🎄
That used to be a nice tree. So sad. By the way, who taught you how to fell a tree? Why would you cut into you notch?
He cut the guts outa the tree so it didn't split bad because he was taking it with the lean
He’s cutting his hinge out for whatever reason, if it’s a leaner you bore cut it from the side, not the notch.
Trust me he knows what he's doing y'all don't have a clue one of the best feller's out there
That big o sun-gun had some fight in er! Nice work and safe cuttin
You should have more subscribers , that was awesome !
Some days we eat steak , other days the steak eats you !
Way to small in the front. You have to get under the big sods

Badass logger!
Nicely done old man.
Nice job looked a little windy there
Very nice wood! i hope you build something nice from it
That sure is a different animal than fir or any of that straight up and down lumber. All those limbs really got to make a guy think about where the weight is. I can't believe how that mother held on with such little hinge wood!
Was it lightning strike ?
When a tree is so big that you can make lumber logs out of the limbs that's a big damn tree
It looked solid.
Nice cut
Enjoyed your vid. Bet that tree was 150 yrs old if it was a day!
Sweet job!
I would’ve thought it was hollow
Good to watch 👍
That was one hell of a good job.
Keep safe
Nice log!
Holy Crap! I think you need a bigger hammer!! lol great video!!

Face cut was way too small... the tree had no clue what to do while being cut
Didn't need any wedges....just proper cuts......lot less calories burned
Work smarter not harder old man
I'd like to have what was left over for firewood. Cool vidsow.
That was like, 1/4" of wood holding? (whew)…….got her down tho....
Good job old timer
She is a mighty old oak, ol school, careful here bro, make that 390 scream, leme know how old she is please be safe
LOVE IT.
You leave a pretty stump. Bad to the BONE.
You've cut timber before and lot of it I can tell !
that sum-beech ill make lot a wrisky barrels !!!!
Nice Job! Lot of wood in that bitch!
Is your 390 stock?
Would've made it a lot easier if the under cut was the right size
Yup, probably no need for the wedges either🤷♂️
@@louisvandeventer2497 probably not. Especially beings it looked like it could be dropped any direction
@@kevinallen206 yeah, he looked for the lean at the beginning too🤦♂️🤦♂️
Class dismissed !
Looks like a waste, unless ur gonna make lumber out of it ?
what???? no chaps???
Cant believe it stood that long you had 0 hold wood 🤔
Good job, ignore the comments from some do it the way that fits you best , no rot in bottom of tree signs of good wood
always sad when a big guy falls like that... but it was dead anyway
👍🤠🍻
Face cut was too shallow. Also, you can double up wedges. This took you about 3x as long as it should've.

Some trees you don't cut
ye this one you didnt.. =)
yep some you do this was in that category !
😱✌
Bravo that was amazing skill o
Weston
Why?
why what ?
My dad would have had that on the ground in quarter of the time
and probally dead as well
You sleep with that saw. Tree was struck by lighting and is not worth anything. Destroy forests for greed. Looser
