Well I played in the woods from the time I wasn't old enough to argue with dad to about twenty years ago when I had to stop cause one of my boys just nineteen turned up with leukemia... infantile type and I did the hospice. That really took the wind out of my sales and then when I was helping a elderly gentleman with house chores cause he had diabetes, couldn't see well, and so I did his housework and cooked his meals... just a helping hand when you get old. One day I'm there doing some cooking, cleaning and just the what not, I looked around the house to see what he was doing. He wasn't in the house after checking so worried I went outside to see w h ere he might of waked off to. I find him on a ladder and I asked him; What are you trying to do? He told me he was cleaning the gutters. Just so matter of factly and I didn't want to insult him but I didn't want him on a ladder either so I asked him to please come down and I would gladly see to it for him. He tells me: I'm just fine... and then he dangles a foot out. Says he is just fine and then he lost his balance and fell. I just couldn't watch him hit the cement walkway and dived in and caught him breaking his fall... he never reached the ground or anything but he weighed three hundred plus and it tore the pocket on his tee shirt. I was not so lucky... his falling and me catching him cost me the rest of my life, my business and eventually every thing I owned. It broke my neck in two places and broke my lower back in five places and blew out one disk. I was in the hospital from that day for almost six months in induced coma and from that day I have finally learned to walk with a cane. I am a very naive person giving people the benefit of the doubt and trying to help others stay sober for which I can say I found several who gave it a try but only one made it in the twenty three years that I have been sober. I found giving my problems to god to help me with my own problems a lot easier. Sure my lip has been in the dirt a few times but I just stay sober and mind my own business from now on as I have been busted up since the first day of oct., in two thousand five or forteen years ago. In that time they have tried different surgeries and then one morning I wake up with a pain pump sewed in my stomach and it didn't hurt where they put it in but the pain in my lower back was still very high. They have finally found the break and they won''t fix it cause they can't guarantee that I would make it through surgery. I was just a kid in my early years not even a teen ager yet when my dad put me on landings and sent me out to set chokers for him and his gypo logging crew. You know, a man can get hurt in a neighbors back yard and it could change his life as he knows it. The young man on the landing is keeping in touch with the self loader log operator and yes he could get hurt but then no one is safe anywhere guaranteed. He looked just fine to me, he was focused and knew how to operate a chainsaw... any of us who have used one with a long bar has done what it takes to start one so no his method probably won't meet OSHA but its hard to keep them happy and do the job as called. I really think the operator is doing a fine job of loading, the young man working the landing made calls on how to cut different trees to manageable size and take the dog leg out of the small one. You give it your best shot and if it is not perfect then get over it as it is over now and no one hurt, I did see him glance up to see if the guy would need help with the log wrappers. They nodded without screaming at each other knowing nothing need be done cause job is done and no one got hurt. I could see that from my house in Wasilla Ak., even though I wasn't there, I have been there doing the same job over sixty years ago!! Great video
