Had a cousin of mine cut one on me one time on purpose. He was just being a dick . I took the hood prop for the 225 I was running an laid over in the corner of the cab like it killed me . He came running down the hill hollerin are you all right an jumped up on the step . When he did I laid his ass out with the rod we held the hood up with 😅. Till tis day he still carries the scar on his left cheek 😂😂😂 . He never tried to cut trees on me after that
Good job Ole boy. Sometimes I cut the notch at least back to 50% of the diameter. It'll set the tipping point much earlier..and I double stack the wedges.
When your cutting trees everyday their will always be one in your life you will misjudge the length of, things happen. Every one haves a bad day sometimes.Glad your ok brother.
You never know what’s gonna happen in the logging industry. I’ve had that happen. You’re pretty safe inside that skidder. But nothing is guaranteed. Glad you’re ok OL ‘ Skool.
had nephew ask me one what's so good about logging told him any job that has you singing gospel music on the way to work and thanking the lord on the way home has to be good for you
Great you got out of there.hope the 225d is ok. It's just like the one I ran for my dad for a few yrs.. me and that Thang got along fine..those are my favorite skidders..fast as a cat in the woods
Dam Ole Son, I believe you had that one a might short on the fall. Glad you were surrounded by good ole American steel, and The Big Man above. Some days you just wonder what you did right, when things go so wrong, but you get to see the next sunrise for reasons, you don't quite understand. Be well, and take care. PS Glad to see it didn't kick back on you, cause you had just a might bit of a strain on those fibers you whittled down so thin. Peace n Harmony makes the world a better place for us all.
Get yourself a cheap small handheld range finder with a built in angle detector. Walk away from the trunk and take an angular reading up to the highest point of the tree. Keep walking until the reading is less than 45 degrees then you'll know you're beyond where the tip will hit the ground. Might save your life one day..👍 You had a nice sharp blade there...👍
I saw the shallow under cut and a red flag went up! Others have comments the same I see,,,, That was 'only' the top but that can be very expensive!! I like the really steady idle of your saw.
I have to say I have watched a lot of your videos and this is the first time I saw you do something that dumb. You got so lucky with not falling off that ladder . You keep that crap up and don’t get a taller ladder, and stabilize it better you better be doing live feeds so someone can call 911 for you. I logged my whole life and I did my fair share of really stupid stuff but you topped me with that.I commented before you buried yourself and your skidder. I hope you don’t have another day like that. You definitely are using up miracles at a record pace

he’s a real logger allright
Maybe a snatch block and redirect might be some useful info in the old-school encyclopedia.
Copy that 👍🏻👍🏻💯
Our family has a logging company in PA and we have never used a ladder. We always notch it and drop it.
@@olskoolloggin9761 Yes l am.
Sometimes ya can’t always back up to the tree with the Skidder. Ladder works well when pulling a tree over. Especially when 20 feet from house. 🤷🏼♂️
@@olskoolloggin9761 Sorry, didn't see the house l thought you out in the woods.
Hope that hissing sound at the end wasn't a leak
That was a SCARED Rattlesnake ... 🤣😂
Détroit 👌🏻
“Skunk Cabbage” and Timberjack 225, are you a fellow “Maineak” Logger??? Husky 395 is another sign your a cutter in New England?
I sure don't understand his methodology of cutting trees though!!
Pulled it a lil to close to ya lol

NORMAL MAN COULDN'T HANDLE THAT, BUT OL SCKOL ,NAA NO PROBLEM AWSOME I DID THAT ONCE, ONLY ONCE
That saw looks and sounds like a 576 xp
Amen!
Did your saw run out of gas?
I thought you just wedged enough so your saw won’t get pinched , saw it down, not wedge it and pull it down??
Maybe 👌🏻
