    It's beautiful so light and airy. BTW when you first pick the lace you used, right under your hand is a beading lace. It had a edging on it but it could have worked. This looks like a great pattern.

    • @DamesalaMode
      @DamesalaMode  4 года назад

      That is a gorgeous lace but it is antique (so I wouldn't use it for something that needs tension) and I only have about 12" of it.

  • @FlickiChicki

    Because I have an ongoing war with buttons, I used hooks and eyes on my corset cover that I got attached to ribbon so they were slightly easier to attach. But I think I need to make this if I can figure out bust room and I think your fix will work. Thanks!!!

    • @DamesalaMode
      @DamesalaMode  4 года назад +1

      I usually use hooks and eyes on everything because I feel the same way about buttons 😂😂😂

    • @FlickiChicki
      @FlickiChicki 4 года назад

      @@DamesalaMode Grandma left me yards and yards of these hooks and eyes on ribbon/tape. White, cream/ivory, gray, black. I might use them up in my lifetime. So unless I really need a button, hooks and eyes win.

    What is the needle you use to lace the ribbon through the "beading lace"? I haven't seen it before and it looks so helpful.

    I have been enjoying going back through some of your previous projects after discovering your channel during cocovid - this was really fun to see you bring the corset cover to life! Do you have any insight on how this pattern differs from the "1910s camisole or corset cover" pattern from Wearing History? Trying to decide which one to purchase and make myself...

    • @DamesalaMode
      @DamesalaMode  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately I haven't seen or made the 1910s camisole but I just looked at the pattern. It looks like they are very similar, but I suspect the difference is that the 1910s camisole pattern is multi-sized and has instructions. The one I did is one of her Archive Couture patterns so they are one-size and have very basic instructions. If you're an experienced sewist then the one I used is probably fine, but if you're not experienced with re-sizing and construction then the full pattern is probably best!

    How do you deal with what is essentially /waste/ with all the Muslin for the mockup? Like I get that it’s basically essential, but it’s still expensive enough that it makes me cringe.

    • @DamesalaMode
      @DamesalaMode  3 года назад +2

      It's just one of the costs of sewing, unfortunately! I try to reuse any big pieces for other mockups and I buy my muslin by the bolt so it's cheaper by the yard (but that's a big up front expense). It's still cheaper than ruining my expensive fabric.
