mikelo303 yes! It's a great feature! All of these features add a lot more flexibility to the sequencer and the SE-02 in general. 😁👍 Thanks for watching.
Thanks and congrats for bringing new features up. The PWM was very limited and the update helps. I still can’t understand why it needed to be so complicated, or why they didn’t provide a lower LO for the oscillators. In anyway, it’s great to know there’s a (hard) way for a wider benefit from PWM. Would a delay for the LFO ever come for us?
Paraphony eh? Like multiple notes at the same time? That would be a cool feature indeed! 🤔 I have heard lots of good things about this latest update to the Bass Station II. Making me kinda curious. Lol
I just acquired an SE-02... I was looking to go in similar route, but opted for a Jupiter Xm instead. This gave me the JUPITER-8, JUNO-106, JX-8P, and SH-101 built into one unit... plus XV-5080, RD piano, and a few TR808/909 patches, as well. Oh! And a vocoder engine and room for other expansions, such as the JD-800.
I really hope they don't. Studio Electronics doesn't need a middle man f****ing up their products lol. It's bad enough the SE02 isn't just a 2U rack synth instead of the toy it was packaged in. Great synth otherwise.
Now with this update it similar to the MC 202 (I have one from years:) ). I want to say that I’m also the owner of a SH 101 and when you want to play live and not in studio the SH 101 is much more convenient to use, since the arpeggio and some other function. The step programming used by 202 (it has thousands of notes to be entered...) is a big potential for studio users but not for live sets. So I see the SE 02 very similar to the 202. Honestly I am choosing a boutique gear and likely I’ll buy the Sh 01A... However your videos are super useful to understand the boutique machines. I can say a big problem with hardware is that you realize your ideal set of machines only after buying them nd playing with them for a while. I had a 303 too in 2004 and unfortunately I sold it 😪, but to be honest he was not of great use for extended live sets. Thanks for your greAt videos. Clear , useful and always addressing the issues people really care about!
I've never owned any of the older Roland gear, but I'm sure they are awesome and have their strengths/weaknesses. I just picked up an SH01A and I am already so in love with it. It's a great addition to my setup, with an awesome sequencer and poly mode, it really has a lot to offer. Anyways, thank you very much for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂👍
Thanks for this great vid. I have a question, is there a way to change the length of the sequence through tempo like you can on the Volcas going from 1/1 to 1/2 or 1/4?
Hi, I can’t use this synth as small controller using the KM25, I can’t get the transpose information sent by midi out. It works on the Se02, but no transpose data is sent directly from playing the keyboard, it just transposes from the sequencer
I have a few of the Roland boutiques and the k25 keyboard attachments. I love them and they usually work great! But I recently got an se-02 and it doesn’t sit too well in the keyboard. It’s a bit wobbly and not fully sturdy. I tried switching it into another k25 just to be sure and it was the same problem. Anyone got an se-02 and k25 that has the same issue?
littleBIGsynths did you ever get around to checking? I LOVE this synth and you're to blame :) just wondering if I should return the keyboard cause of the wobbles...
@@cougarman8 sorry, man! I totally forgot! Just checked right now though.... yeah. Definitely wobbly. It has a lot of play from side to side. 😕 It has to be the SE-02 for sure. I dont think the keyboard is the problem. Thank you! And thanks for watching my vids! 👊😊
Thank you!! 😀 The song is by a group called HOME and the song is called Overflow I believe. There is a link in the description if you are interested. 👍🏻
I honestly don't think there is a difference in audio quality when using 1/4 or 3.5mm. 🤔 I believe the only real difference may be that the 1/4 jacks/cables may be more rugged or durable. If you prefer, or have connections that need to be made that are 1/4", then a simple adapter would do the trick. 😉 It is much more practical using an adapter to go from 3.5mm to 1/4 than it would be the other way around. (1/4" to 3.5mm.) Hope this was helpful. 🙂👍
I believe recordong without sequencing would then be considered looping. Like just freely recording whatever you play and then playing it back, right? Well, if that's what you mean... then No. 😔 The only synth that I am aware of that does that is the Yamaha Reface CS.👍
@@littleBIGsynths Korg synths (Volca's, minilogue, monologue) also allow live recording, so do Pocket Operators, I think the Arturia synths too, but I'm only a 100% sure about the MicroFreak (and the Keystep). The Reface CS is one of very few that can record unquantized notes though.
It’s no wonder Moog has discontinued the making of the Model d reissue. This thing is like £500 and the Moog is £3500......No brainier. And yes, I am a Moog fan. This thing is astonishing at this price! ✌🏻🕶🎶
Yes! Exactly! 😀Wouldnt make much sense at this point. The SE-02 has all of the Moog qualities we know and love... BUT with a side of extra awesome sauce! Lol Sequencer, Delay, syncable LFO, XMOD, CV, portable, automatic tuning, parameter automation, and sooo much more.... for $500.... like you said, "no brainer". 😎👍
The pwm was not very convincing . Did not sound authentic at all. suggest you speak to mr Batt and get his advice. Your version of pulse width modulation convinces me not to buy this synth, and the size does not suit my large hands anyway - no thanks .Basic sound ok but too many negatives. J Horrobin UK
Sorry to hear that. Haha yeah, Mr. Batt would know for sure. Lol BUT it is a very useful feature that wasnt there before... so I'm just happy to have it now. 😉 Small synths/ Tiny knobs are not for everyone.... but I absolutely love this synth! Sooooo much power packed in a tiny and affordable package. 😁👍🏻
2024 Here...this synth is STILL a go-to synth.
Nice demo! Like the groove @9:30!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂👍
subbed just because you deserve waay more followers
Real time record is a game changer for me. I was waiting for this. Thanks for update!

Super walk through. Thank you! 🙇🏻♂️
Thanks! 😁 Glad you enjoyed it.
It's also my favorite little beast! :) Great review!
Do you loose your older presets by updating? Thanks!
This sounds way better than any of the ‘logue’ series Korg is offering!
Hoping the next Update will include paraphony ... like Novation just added to the Bass Station II

Sounds great! Very educational as well!
Thanks, man!! 👊🙂
Well I'm HAPPY with the updates bx
Great vid & riffs my man.
My SE-02 should arrive today! That means only 4 boutiques left to complete my collection! I’m really looking forward to this one. Do you still use it?

@@DocFirewire Yeah, I completely agree on the SE-02. It has balls for sure! Still not sure about the JD-08, though.
best feature is that the metronome sounds like Cubase on the good ol Atari ST !
Nice Synth, would be cool if they could overdub.
When are Roland going to come out with another analog product collaboration with Studio Electronics?

OldSkool Synth Boy I bought a tb 303 in 2004 and sold it later that year, for financial and pragmatic reasons, I feel your pain ✊

Best synth ever 🤔
Definitely one of the most powerful synths I own.... and takes up very little space in my studio. 😉👍 Thanks for watching.

Have they fixed the filter stepping?
Is the parameter lock still limited to only one parameter per step? :)
how did you synchronise the volca sample to it?
Does anyone know if you can transpose the sequence from the keyboard
