07.20 - While you were pricing the cutlery, there was a shot of a small Carlton Ware dish (Australian design "Windswept"). Depending on the price it is fairly collectable !
I'm not a reseller as such, but I do go to charity shops/warehouses, bootsales as often as I can but I only buy things that would sell for at least 10x what I paid. it doesn't happen often but it does happen, it's also the excitement of looking and finding the stuff.
Blimey George, finally found the upload function and blessed us with some content. Good watch as always, did that nice lady ever find any work do you know?
Hi, I noticed in the past you sold singer sowing machines, what is the postage cost. Great content to your video's. Also Do you have to be registered self employed, when you earn over a certain amount.
Usually if I have time, weather ok and im passing charity shops will have a look but never rely on it. A lot round my way just price items to high so items sit there for weeks and months. Odd charity shop has an arrangement that house clearance type people go in and get lots in backlog. I may find something once in a blue moon.
I started to look in our charity shops, in a row only one was selling things at a great price help the aged, the others right next to it were selling way above including bernardos ( just up the road is a main depo for Bernardos much cheaper), i think they are seeing what resellers get and try for the same but it is not working, because not everyone who uses the shops are reselling so they are loosing out in my mind. My sister lives in Sheffield and stainless steal was there fortay it is all closed down now, so maybe hang onto the cutelry set it will be worth a lot more later
It all depends on the branch and the area. I can't believe the prices of your ones compared to the ones in the West Midlands. Might be worth travelling around
@@RetroReselling yes exactly - then again cost of living in Essex is probably double that of Wolverhampton now. Been lucky meeting house clearance guys too I think they're genuinely one of the only ways to do it now
They are worth it but does take some hunting especially for me in Central London. I have recently found a electric metre for £10 that I flipped for £75. Yesterday I found a New Balance Limited Edition London Marathon bag still sealed in plastic for £15 and sold it already for £50. I think I could've got more for it, think I underpriced it. Clothes in charity shops are really expensive in my area though, hard to find anything worth flipping.
I'm just about to go VAT reg. Are you on a flat rate scheme? If so, am I right in thinking it is 6.5% year 1, rising to 7.5% after? (For the sale of 2nd hand goods)
Viners is a decent brand but not worth much as there’s so much of it, if you ever find Habitat cutlery it goes for a lot, also wooden handled MCM cutlery but you have probably sold that before. Loved that chore jacket.
In close on 3 months of searching charity shops in and around stockport i`ve actually bought nothing! Either the items are overpriced/in poor condition or just not worth the effort of flipping! I generally look for videogame related items/toys and shoes/boots. Small stuff easy to store.
I find that fairly affluent places that are on the edge of cities, or affluent small towns have the best stock. Sometimes some of the more obvious stuff might be overpriced, but I regularly find stuff to sell on. I Got five gamecube games for £1 each at the weekend at a charity shop in a small town. They thought they were DVDs, and because there weren't many people picking over the shelves, I was able to snap them up, due to the lack of competition.
I'm just selling bits and bobs to make a few extra quid as I'm I've been on long-term sick due to neck issues. Mostly my own stuff I've collected over the years mainly Marvel and Star wars collectables.
@@funkyphil I'm just a part-timer myself. And source mainly from charity shops when I'm out and about. But I'm pretty sure you couldn't be full-time and source only from charity shops, as I go through the odd sparse period, sometimes a few weeks, where there isn't any decent stock at a decent price. But I think charity shops can be worth your time, if you're able to get to ones in decent areas. Otherwise they can be pretty disappointing, like you mentioned.
Depends on where you live, Chelmsford being a bit of a hole it doesn't prove as fruitful as out of the way affluent areas, I do exceedingly well in charity shops, and make full use of the 80% off sellers fees weekends that ebay run, which seem to be every weekend currently
Not sure you needed to leave that whole section in to be honest George. If she was desperate then showing her desperation on here does nothing but belittles her.
The amount of money she wanted was quite specific and you can't trust anyone these days. I think it's fine being left as she wasn't laughed at in any way.
Cutlery is a minefield! Lots of stainless sets, even by good makers are virtually worthless. stick to quality silver plated, older the better…or even better, leave it!
Charity shops have become worse and worse. Can’t stand talking to the managers anymore, the “check out our eBay shop” or “no we put them all on eBay now”. It’s always the same sort of woman, with the same haircut and accent. 😂
Are Charity Shops Worth It For You & Your Reselling Business??
A lot of the charity shops are selling the good stuff on line

Lucy and yak is a great pick up. The dungarees are awesome and resell extremely well.
I found that Guess Who in a charity shop in Bexleyheath about a month ago but the box was alot worse off than yours, I sold it for £18! Good find
Surprised you found anything at a Bexleyheath shop, even Dartford’s are above retail!
@@666JPF me too, had a bit of success at welling (near bexleyheath) but only this one thing at bexleyheath, Gravesend isn't bad

Lucy & yak was an absolute find!
Lucy and Yak decent, my sister loves that brand. Ive sold 3 pairs of their Dungarees for over £30 each

The Gap jacket is nice , well done, a worthwhile trip George 😊
Ahh..bless ya for helping the old girl x
Had a look around Chelmsford last Saturday, I cannot believe the ridiculous prices in them these days
that metal gear solid sound effect did me
Some really great finds George. I really enjoy watching your videos. Looking forward to seeing what you find at the car boots.🐈
Thanks 👍
Look out for jigsaw roll up mats, I found one for £2.00 still in the box never used

Exactly that! I've got to learn the shops to avoid & which ones to hit more regularly.

😂 straight to the underware tub great videos as always
The cutelry is pronounced Veye ners and is a good quality brand .😊
Charity shops prices would be more expensive if they had to pay all there staff good for the volunteers
I've been approached by the same lady on a number of occasions in Broomfield.
Oh really! Never seen her before personally
I'm just about to go VAT reg. Are you on a flat rate scheme? If so, am I right in thinking it is 6.5% year 1, rising to 7.5% after? (For the sale of 2nd hand goods)
I'm not currently VAT registered. Looking to once Lenny starts school and I get more time to push the business more.
Lucy and yak is a great brand! Could easily get £50 for that mate

Hi, did you take off your tax and also fuel for driving around to all the shops?
20% basic rate tax + around 10 miles at 30p per mile 👍🏻
The Viners cutlery is pronounced like Miners.
Nice long video. That lady that came up to your car was crazy.
Yeah I'm never sure if they're genuine or not. I'd rather give food or drink than money
They have cottoned onto resellers buying cheap and selling high.
Sellers buying for couple of quid then charging £40 on their own sites
This will be last week of sales before the new tax year starts 5th April as they want to reduce last year's stock levels for the new tax year.

charity shops are becoming greedy
I go to everything a pound Scope clearance shop X

Oxfam charity shop M&S donate things that never sold in the sales, so all new with tags
a charity shop is supposed to sell stuff cheap so poor people can get things cheaper than a store.
Missed that bit in the T&C's ....

she's a scammer, she asked me multiple times for money yet has a car
The difference between charity shops near me and you is vast 😅😅
