I would have divorced him if i was married to him. The Steve Irwin loss is still a trigger for us. As animal advocates, he was one of the rare "good ones", that TRULY cared for the animals, and tried his best not to displace or disturb them nearly as much as his colleagues. He was a true "good 'un", and his death still resonates years later. He is missed, and now, with Bob Barker's passing, we have lost two major advocates for the defenseless in a relatively short time.

    The fall of Cosby is really something. He established himself on television and stage and earned a doctorate in Education. At one point, he was worth so much money between his show and his work for Kodak, Jello and American Express that he contemplated buying NBC. Not investing in the network, but buying the whole thing. That didn't happen, but one can only imagine what the television landscape might be if Cosby was the owner of one of the "Big 3" networks. What we didn't know at the time is that his raging ego appears to have lead him to think that he could do as he pleases. He was wrong. By the way, Irwin only died at the scene because some numbnut in the water with him pulled out the barb. Although it hit him in the heart, that barb also acted as tamponade to the wound. If it would have been removed in an O.R. setting, he may have survived. Many stabbing injuries with knives result in the same situation and, if stabilized in place, can--potentially--be survived. You NEVER remove that piercing item in the field. Pax.

    The police ruled that Jon-Erik Hexum was NOT playing Russian Roulette and yet those stupid rumors still persist nearly 40 years after his death. He was exhausted, sleep deprived, working a crazy schedule and had fallen asleep on the set between takes. He’d been acting with an unloaded gun all day, and the loaded gun was supposed to be locked up between takes. It wasn’t. It is surmised that he woke to more filming delays and frustratingly put the gun to his head in mock frustration like we do a finger gun to the head., “Just shoot me.”He put his trust in the industry and sadly that trust was misplaced.
    It has been reported that he was alone when the accident happened. So how can they claim it was RR? If he was at fault then why did the studio pay his family in the lawsuit? The narrative doesn’t make sense. He was a good guy with a heart of gold, yet he’s remembered only by his death, inaccurately at that. If anyone remembers him at all. Most don’t. He deserves better.

    • @Jeremy-ql1or
      @Jeremy-ql1or 7 месяцев назад

      Russian Roulette or weird dramatic gesture, it was a crazy thing to do. I can't imagine how being tired would make a person more likely to do that. Or you would at least check the chamber before doing it. And doing a dramatic gesture like that when there was no one there to see it was really insane.
      "If he was at fault then why did the studio pay his family in the lawsuit? "
      That's not uncommon at all. Large companies will often pay off the family even when they know they would win a lawsuit as the payment is usually smaller than the legal fees would be. It would also avoid keeping the bad publicity for going on longer.

    • @LadyKC67
      @LadyKC67 7 месяцев назад

      @@Jeremy-ql1or sleep deprivation can make one do all kinds of stupid stuff. If I’ve lost 2 night’s sleep I refuse to drive for fear someone could get hurt. I also have trouble waking up, if I rush out of bed and try to do something, I’ll bump into things, knock stuff over, spill stuff. It’s not pretty. Some people don’t wake as easily as others. And that’s on a good day. Add in sleep deprivation and it’s a recipe for disaster. Especially if he’d fallen into a deep sleep and was awakened abruptly.
      If he had been working with an unloaded gun (are there some on a set that are never loaded? Can someone answer that? I don’t work in the industry so I don’t know), and he knew the loaded ones are always locked up, then I could easily see why the mistake was made. Dumb mistake, sure. I’m not arguing that. Unfortunately he paid for that dumb mistake with his life. A mistake he can never correct. At least not in this lifetime. But it’s wrong to call it Russian roulette, and it’s very wrong to say he was stupid in general. He wasn’t. He was actually very intelligent and had a degree in philosophy. One mistake in life (in this case fatal) doesn’t make one stupid in general. And to mock someone over one dumb mistake is wrong and it hurts the loved ones that are left behind to hear those comments. It’s cruel. (That’s not directed towards you specifically, just people in general.)
      The studio was unethical, period. I don’t want to get into detail as I spoke with his family and I don’t want to betray their confidence but some of the witnesses were coerced into not speaking out. That alone tells me the studio knows they messed up. I have heard that the guns are usually handled by an educated weapons master that makes sure no mistakes are made with the guns on set and lock them up when not in use. That particular day the weapons master was sent home for budget cuts and an uneducated prop guy was left to do the job on set. Why was that allowed? Why was a loaded gun left on a set with a sleeping star? Sounds to me like the studio bears a huge chunk of responsibility for the accident. There is some reference in the court documents I saw that the gun was somehow defective. But I didn’t see the documents in full so I don’t know what the proof of that was, nor what it ultimately meant in the context of the accident but there is that too.
      Bottom line is that there were several mitigating circumstances that lead to his death, things that we know nothing about. And things that perhaps alone wouldn’t cause an issue but together spelled disaster. We don’t know for sure. You can say that you would’ve at least checked the chamber but you weren’t actually there. You can’t say with authority that everyone would do what you’d do if it was you. People think differently, and circumstances can muddy the waters of clear thought. But saying it was Russian roulette (when the police confirmed it was not) or saying he was stupid in general is wrong. He was actually a really incredible person inside and deserves far better than what has been said about him. And better than the rumors the industry spread to discredit him.

As a child, I watched his cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. As a family, we watched I Spy. As a teenager, I was into his stand-up comedy, owning a lot of his albums. What I loved about his brand of comedy was that it was clean, wholesome and with no f-bombs constantly dropped. He had my parents seal of approval. He was hilarious in Mother, Jugs, and Speed, a movie my friends and I went to see. As a young adult with a child, I remember watching The Cosby Show with my son. To say Cosby was known as America's Dad is an injustice to the millions of others out there who, like myself aren't American. To me, he was the All-Round dad! Finding out his darker side years later was the ultimate shock! While I still have the fond memories of my 'life with Cosby', it comes with a heavy heart for all his victims.
